RTI  Krait L or RTI P3 Performance

And @Ranchibi is also corrert! I happen to have one of those also, but the tactical version with the bottle. Built like a tank and shoots like a sniper! It's just not in a metal frame like the other two, but Airmaks also has wood stocks and Utah Air has them on sale! And yes, I have one!

@jmohme - I have from .177 through .30 4 guns in one! OP, you will not be disappointed. The .25 really packs a whollap on the pests but a 50g JSB is complete smack down with the .30!

OP, you can't go wrong with any of these.

Omega 4500 Compressor or GX E5K2…

This is high praise for the Carette II coming from you, sir. So the $2200+ price for the C II is worth it over the Omega 4500 water cooled at AoA?
I don't follow prices and to be perfectly up front, the last time I checked the CII was $1995. If you gave me a choice between the two machines, I'd take the CII all day long. Whether it's worth several hundred extra is the buyer's conundrum.

Airforce  AirForce Talon valve won't seat in Huben Max-ATH Universal Regulator

I bought (from a Huben authorized vendor in the US) a Huben Max-ATH 50cc Universal regulator for my AirForce Talon SS, pre-Spin-Loc. The valve won't fully screw into the regulator, leaving about a 3/32" gap between the valve's base and the regulator. It looks like it needs a relief cut in the regulator threads to accommodate the small collar at the base of the valve. I don't know if this is a manufacturing defect or not at this point. I have an email in to the vendor and he responded promptly and said he'd never seen that problem but that he'd do some looking and check for me. The group here is perhaps a larger universe, so I thought I'd post the photos here and ask if anyone else has seen this.

The collar is the same diameter as the crests of the threads

I'll keep the vendor out of this at this point. I think he's trying to figure out what happened too. I wonder if this is a one-off manufacturing defect where somebody forgot to put the relief cut in for the collar, or a design flaw that Huben hadn't anticipated. Anybody else seen this?

RTI  Krait L or RTI P3 Performance

I know nothing of the Krait and while I do own a Prophet Performance, it is the original version and has been rock solid and much more capable the I am.
When I got it I also got two complete O Ring kits, that are still in their sealed bags after almost 3 years. Very dependable PCP.

I also do find the ease of swapping barrels to be a great feature. I have both .22LR and .25 RPB barrels and will eventually get a .30 too.
Being able to pull the barrel in less than a minute is also great for maintenance.

Either of your two choices would probably be good for you. I just wanted to chime in on what I consider the well thought out design of the Prophet.

Good luck and let us know what you end up with and how you like it.

Skout  Indexing Your Barrel?

Not a barrel but a FX liner indexing...
I set the scope to a mechanical center L-R;
Clamp the gun in a mechanical rest, in my case it is a one-piece-rest;
Shoot at distance longer then 50 M, but a 100 M would be best.
Shoot 5 shot groups;
Index by 15 minutes;
In my case some liners project fairly large radius and some liners project much smaller radius., with a group pattern rotating and changing.
I chose the group that is closest to the scope mechanical center.
Index more in 5 minutes increments CW-CCW to fine tune.
In my case, my liners produce best group patterns with closer to scope center in between 1 a clock and 2 a clock.
Also, when all done, shockingly my 1:27 liner plots the biggest radius on 100 M paper (more then a foot radius), meaning to me it is fairly bent. But that liner is my most precise and accurate for scoring 100 M rings.
I have not seen relation between how "bent" is a liner vs how accurate/precise it is.

HW/Weihrauch  HW30 walnut

UPS did me good today, delivered mine a few minutes ago. I tried a few shots, and it seems to be minute of soda can at 10 meters out of the box. It has to be the easiest cocking springer other than my FWB 300s.

AOA did me ok with the wood, much better than average. I will try to take some pics tomorrow when the sun angle is better,. light got not so bright, so here are a few

That is just beautiful. You are giving me great hope for mine. Most all the HW30N rifles I’ve seen so far are great.

HW/Weihrauch  True Glow Globes on sale

These are perfect for that. They're a bargain for $13. The Weihrauch one is like $60 and won't be as bright. They're made of metal but hood cut out makes it at least as weird looking. You'll thank me when you get to use yours.

The clear ring pops off but I like it better with it on there. I dripped some clear acrylic glue along it's seams to keep it in place when I cock the rifle. I still hate how it looks but it works too good to take off.

Be well
Ron
Yea Ron, you are correct. I have both the Weihrauch and a couple of the Truglos. The Truglos are brighter and the FO is a smaller dia. The only thing the Weihrauch has going for it is it's metal. They tie in the goofy category, although the truglo is a bigger sight.

Theoben  Rapid MK2 mods

Up to some more tricks. Valve version 4.0. This time I was able to reuse the stem I made but remade the end cap. This time with enough room for a cobra chamber. So this added two more o rings . The cobra chamber or “air spring” has a .052 vent and is roughly 1cc ,minus the area of the valve stem going through it. Give or take . I’m still going through the tuning but so far is much better that the stiff valve return spring I was using. I’m shooting for about 35 ft/lbs or 790fps with 25 grain JSB’s. I already have a heavy hitting 25 cal ( Leshiy 2) . Pics are of the parts disassembled and complete as drop in. I’m also still running the 7075 aluminum hammer and after three tins of pellets shows no signs of wear. Thanks for that tip Motorhead.

Zan ELR .22 42.3 gr vs Altaros King .22 40gr at 234 yard

Seems like it in that gun huh!
Maybe with some tuning those results might change! Slugs are evil beasts and can be really picky on the speed they like. Really not a fair comparison without tuning for each slug.
Too true! I know this too well. I rarely shoot pellets, I often prefer to shoot slugs, unless the gun just doesn't have the power to shoot them fast enough to expand or accurately.

What did you learn today - Airgun related

I learned that if you convert the Hatsan Jet 1 to the Jet 2 with the double cylinders, make sure you do a good job of tightening both grub screws. Otherwise the pressure will push the cylinders away from the block and transfer port and you'll see a huge drop in fps. Worst case is that the cylinders become dangerous projectiles (luckily I figured this out in time!).
Sounds horrifying. Lol

30-Yard Challenge

Went to the range today. Nice warm temps, keep em' coming.

I had the RAW TM1000X .177 ( just cleaned barrel ) with me this morning. Wind was light and I just had my Randolph front mechanical rest cleaned and now have the horizontal windage knob actually 'working.' This is good because before it would not work and I would constantly pick up my rear Protektor bag and move horizontally from bull to bull. I knew this was inefficient but underestimated how problematic it is for getting adjusted for each shot. Now, I just use the knob and can move left or right across the row I am shooting.

Shot three 40Y Masters Cards and four 30Y Masters cards:

40Y Masters:

189-5X
192-8X
193-8X ( Will submit this for leaderboard in March )

30Y Masters

191-12X
194-12X
198-11X
199-15X ( Will submit this for leaderboard in March )

Wow Tommy, the 199 Card must have a sub 1/4" spread over all 20 shots - Awesome. You have the RAW dialed in!!
Cheers,

Niksan  Escalade Aluminum Bottles

Well, I offered to send the gun back for a full refund, at my expense, they have gone silent.
So, I'll keep heating the bottles and eventually the loctite will break loose.
I'll put my CF tanks on and save the Aluminum bottles for the CPSC if they want them.
But a brilliant policy, Safety pfft, so what if we knew, you have to pay for us to fix our mistakes.

What kind of idjit puts loctite on the bottles?
