Benjamin  Marauder - Need Help (resolved)

Ok. Gen2 LW .177 Mrod with Huma reg setup for FT.

Was at the range yesterday and checking everything. All was great. Small groups at 25/50y.

I ran some different pellets just testing some to see. After a few hundred rounds figured id pull a dry patch and get any excess out.
Like ive done a ton of times i unscrew the shroud, run a dry patch with a patchworm thru it twice.
Scrww the shroud back on and the 2 pellets i was shooting amazing with turned into shotgun groups. Wtf?!
There is no spring in my shroud and the baffles seem fixed.
So then i tried 2 wet patches and 2 dry and same thing.
Today i take the barrel
Off, replace the oring and inspect.
All lools fine. Ran it over the chrony and its spot on.
Wtf?!

Groups go from 1/4” at 25y to now over an inch!!

Ideas?

Does Tuxing own ToAuto compressor company?

Well right now I can not afford a Tuxing twin, I wish I could. Maybe down the line. I think the main problem
we that have these smaller cheaper versions of pcp compressors is this. These small compressors are doing
all they can do Work wise. The larger ones can handle this a lot better. The Twin Tuxing maybe is the lower class
big boy pcp, compressor but it should be more reliable with not having to work as hard. That seems to me as
just good logic. When you can buy a Tuxing twin under $400 I,m thinking of some day going that rout. If any here
do not agree with my thinking, please feel free to post your thoughts. I,m a guy that does not beleave in agreement,
for it serves no purpose. But I welcome discussion, because we all benefit from from different opinion. 🪰Fly
Fly,
you got me curious as to the price of the Tuxing edm 042 that I paid $368 for in Feb.
It’s up to $427 . Thats free shipping from their California center . The price varies.
Sorry I sound like a salesman. Some will denigrate the lower priced compressors
but they work for many of us that don’t feel the need for whatever reasons to spend
more. Saying this I will admit having good mechanical skills certainly helps with
having confidence in these machines.

Pellet packing: Midway USA vs Pyramyd Air

I managed to get somebody with some responsibility to respond to an email and they apologized and sent some replacements out exactly the same way which arrived in the same condition (after telling me that they normally ship things more carefully). Have not ordered anything from that company since. it looks like at least they figured out you need a box. It's a good start

I've ordered a TON of firearms stuff from Midway over the years. They are a good and trustworthy company. I've never had a problem and always very good service. They ship within 24 hours of any order I've made.

But I guess they are simply not well-versed in the world of air rifle stuff.

What caliber? What purpose? Without that I'm guessing but I'd go.
1 - Airmaks Krait X - power and versitility
2 - Huben K1 - versitile with power
3 - BRK sniper XR - not as powerful but overall solid
4 - Raw - real nice, but can be heavy
5 - FX - Too many adjustments and not liking bumps very much.

Again, without context of purpose, I can't truly answer. Hunting? benchrest target shooting? Recreational plinking shooting?

Announcing the Karma EQ Bullpup: Redefining the Power of Air!

That's why I cancelled my pre order, delay after delay, then after release the trigger is absolute garbage. It fills no niche for the price, especially without a bottle "that's coming from saber". I loved it when it was announced, and believed the hype. I've got Chinese and American airguns, and I don't regret this one not seeing my bench.

N/A  Cheapest option for groundhogs

Pittsburgh, but I don't really need to make this a long-term investment.

Thanks, that's a nice suggestion. Saved.
May not need a long term investment, but you may make a long term friend that will let you borrow a rifle when you need it. Have borrowed my rifles to friends from time to time. And once they are filled, they are able to take more than a few shots to take care of the problem critters.

Official Thread - Alkin owners - check in!

@Scotty1: thank you sir! I just wired the yellow /green to ground. And discovered the yellow green wire had a ”ground “ label on it. Yep I’m stupid.
My compressor sits against a wall where my sub panel is on the other side, so I just drilled a hole thru drywall and connected directly into 30 amp breaker. Easy to add “dryer plug” or patch hole and relocate if desired.

Welcome aboard, they all seem to be fine choices. It depends on your intended useage… I vote the BRK because its solid and first on your list.🙈 But please take that with a grain of salt. I am a big BRK fan because of their rugged performance afield.

Airgun Technologies  Uragan 3 177 600mm Tuning

Got a new rifle and it came to me doing 1029 fps, ~24.5fpe. I got it to hopefully shoot silhouettes and HFT so it needs to be >20fpe. I probably should have gotten a different gun but here we are. I’ve been reading a bit on tuning this type of rifle and have had some input on where to start with it by some helpful members. My initial testing has shown JSB exact 10.34 are really accurate and stable at 46yds. 10 shot groups at that distance were a touch over moa, using my fist as a rear bag, forgot my sandbag….

I started tuning today. My plan was to start by cranking the HS out 3 turns and the fps dropped a whole 7 fps on average. Next I pulled the valve and did 1/8 turn in, regassed to 250b and took another 1/2 turn out of the hammer spring, fps dropped down to 906fps. After a 10 shot string I had an es of 15. I put a 1/2 turn back in on the HS and the velocity shot up to the 940’s. I decided to get back into the valve and lower the setting a little more, though I started to turn the valve OUT (ccw) by accident then turned it in another 1/8 turn. After putting it all back together my fps went up to the high 960’s, I didn’t bother shooting more than a few shots and had to put it away for another day.

My initial impression is that I can get to >20fpe, with a stable enough shot string, es and sd, hopefully with no more than a little fiddling with the valve and HS. I was shooting at 12 yards and everything was going in the same hole but that’s really no indication of accuracy ime.

My plan is to get the speed down some more with the valve and then tune the HS tension over the course of a few days, letting the rifle sit between adjustments.

I have zero experience with a balanced valve and only slightly more with a Mrod from about a decade ago, I’m green to say the least. Any input is appreciated!

Oh USPS, let me count the ways I detest you

I recently paid $85 for priority shipping of a muzzle loading rifle. It took almost two weeks to get to me. I paid the extra $50 on top of the normal shipping fee to make sure it would get to me quickly, thereby reducing the chance of damage by the brainless apes who seem to be so prevalent in the shipping industry. After the first week, I gave up on it and figured it would be a splintered wreck by the time I received it. Remarkably, it arrived in perfect condition.

Another time I paid a premium to send some documents requiring signatures to Arizona from California via second day air. They arrived after about four days.

Holy Grail for HFT ?

Hello Rudy. It’s been a month. I know you are meticultus in your prep, but any update?
an Avenue worth following or another HFT dead end?
looki forward to hearing your thoughts
The NX8 is now perched on top of my thomas carbine. Like all scopes so far everything is great out to 35 Yards. If the light is to your rear and it’s illuminating the faceplates then the nx8 is super easy to range, if the sun is behind the targets and or setting so things are darker, ranging gets trickier And you really have to work it and double check. But as far as holdovers when looking through the scope… badabing, I’m nailing the KZ’s Much better! Give me a couple more weeks and I’ll give you my final answer

What Paper Target Did You Shoot Today

Ok, I thought about what ZeroVibe said about our targets getting obnoxious. I only have 2 rifles and my basement to shoot in. Currently I shoot peeps on both and all off hand at 10 meters. I am right handed so I thought I’ll just try to shoot a spot left handed. I had to close my right eye and I could hardly see the spot let alone handle all the other variables of trying to shoot precisely while shooting wrong handed so
IMG_2632.jpeg
after the first two pathetic attempts I reverted to right hand and ended up with the little cloverleaf. I was just as surprised as you all are!😁have a great evening everyone, I hope you all don’t get tired of seeing holes in paper, I’m pretty sure Thomas T didn’t
