FX  M4 converted from MILD .22 pellet pusher to WILD .25 slug monster

Theres the magic ballpark numbers again but for 25. 150bar+/- 5 900-1000 fps.

My 22 wouldn't group at or above 1000, no matter harmonic weight or moderator swaps and my calculator couldn't keep track (bc changes) . Bring it down to 990 and it was good, 980 was perfect for what I was doing.

It's nice to see a common thread for where the fx stuff seems to like to sit

PCP Rifle  NLA FX impact MK 2 for sale

This is a MK2 that has a 500mm barrel in 25cal. It has a bigger bottle. I sent this off to one of the gurus of impact work here on AGN to go through. He rebuilt the reg and completely broke down and replaced every oring in the gun and tuned it originally for the Jsb mk2 34grainers. It shoots lights out. I had him put a saber tactical bag rider on it. An airmarksman medium backbone. He replaced all the screws with stainless ones. I had him put the FX impact mk 3 ambi cocking block and lever on it. It is set up on the left side for a south paw now. It has the K&L pellet probe block on it. It has the saber tactical check riser on it and the saber tactical pic rail on it as well. It has a new ball and spring in the valve adjuster, new power wheel spring(hammer spring). It has a black arts barrel band and the fx 2 screw barrel clamp on it. A 0DB moderator. One factory mag and 2 new mags and speed loader for it never used still in box made from a guy off of AGN. It will ship in fx case. Asking 1150 plus shipping to lower 48. FX  Are expensive PCPs worth it?

Hey I'm gearing up for yotes and turkey myself. Stock 380mm 25 dreamtact at 43 fpe for the turkeys and close stuff pellets only. Money pit 700mm impact at 72 fpe in 22 slugs only. I feel really confident about predator hunting headshots with it since it shoots thru 1 1/8 cdx plywood and aluminum signs ez pz. 30 should be able to do it with pellets no problem I'd think.

The magic number I keep running into on my guns and my buddies' mavericks (500mm 25 and 22) my impact my dreamline. 150 bar plenum preesure. I dunno why it seems like the magic number for us. 15g hammer in the mavericks(home machined brass and cored with tungsten end mill shanks pressed in) stock spring rates.

Now that you've bought, people get mad about having to tune or getting stuck at a point or the liner barrels. All non issues if you can problem solve and find the source.

These guns have excellent quality machining and parts finish (i used to be in aerospace machining too) they work out of the box but the way I see it you are buying high quality components with all the POTENTIAL in the world for you to make it exactly what you need and tune for precision. Fear not, it will be easier to grasp as you go and I think you'll be happy. My fx airguns have made my 22 250 coyote gun and competition built 10/22 safe queens that just get cleaned oiled and admired. I really hope it is a great fit for you!

AEA  aea challenger

I have bullpup .457 and I can say it is the best thing I ever had, even compared with low caliber firearms. It is consistent, putting lead into 1" at 50 yards consistently. See by yourself:

The only think I unfortunately fount is that you have to be careful when disassembling / assembling.
I have broken the trigger sear because of pure lack of attention. Also, it is kind of hard to have spare parts available.

Thanks;

Hatsan  Should I modify a new pcp air rifle and if so which one?

No, he is enthusiastic about the process. There is nothing wrong with that.

My question is, where does he get the experience you say he needs and what does that experience look like?

Just shooting a weapon does not provide that.

Watch a few videos and give it a go.

Uncock, clear, remove air.
Modify, Reassemble, Test

It really is that simple.
If you can't follow those simple steps no amount of experience will help.
I knew YOU would have pearls of wisdom to add, you ALWAYS do. "I don’t care about safety", a direct quote from this guy! I guess you're not circumspect enough to see where this might be headed. I have a much different perspective & approach than you & do not agree with yours. It's not the 1st time. "I DON'T CARE ABOUT SAFETY" tells me all I need to know about this guy. You call it enthusiasm but I'll be looking for him on the Darwin awards! Use your brains people!

Diana  Diana 250 accuracy issues

Need some input. Just bought a new .177 Diana 250 from Airgun Depot for my son. Pitched the scope, tightened all bolts, and put on my Sightmark Wraith that I had on another rifle. I think I have put 150 shots into the target at 25 yards and can't get any consistency. Thought the scope was acting up, so I put the Wraith on my HW 97. Never had it on that but took 3 shots to zero like it usually takes to zero. Went back to the 250 and tried again with the Wraith. Felt like I was chasing cats with it hitting everywhere but where I aimed. Will try cleaning the barrel and check with my Arken this weekend. Or, is it just the rifle? Any advice is appreciated, thanks.
Sorry to hear of your accuracy problem with your new Diana two fifty, were I you I'd send it back to AGD for a replacement, you either got a lemon or my adult son and I were very, very, lucky with ours, mine is in .177, my son has the .22 cal. version, both have been great rifles in every respect, accuracy equals my German rifles, power, smoothness, and fit and finish are way above their price point, we.ve had ours for about six months and have had zero issues with either.
Ours are shooting great with Crosman Premiers, 14.3 in .22 cal. and 7.5~8.5 gr. in .177 cal., triggers are also sweet and the scopes are decent quality, though we would prefer variables instead of fixed, which we may change out in the spring, but both rifles are stacking pellets at 20 yds., 1" at 30 yds,. and about 2" at 50 yds, you really can't expect much better from budget priced break barrel air rifles.
Just saying, try different pellets and if it doesn't get better let AGD know and send it back, take the money or a replacement, judging from my experience with the Two Fifty I'd opt for a replacement.

FWB  Fair price for FWB

you have to look at the pistol and see what it is, that sound stupid but not in this case
so which FWB 65 is it early, middle, late
what grips
target or sports and are they clean or badly soiled
when was the pistol rebuilt, does it have blue or green buffers or even red
now condition, is all the finish there
what comes with it
are there more than 1 front insert and is the recoil plate there and the screw and if so are the tall front inserts there
you see you have to know what you are looking at
rebuild if needed is what 200 bucks with shipping or maybe you can do it yourself but you must be a very good smith to do it
the small stuff like front inserts is a bonus to you but those extras add value any paperwork added bonus
dirty grips are a no go for me i have never gotten FWB grips that are stained by hand sweet clean
the price is up in the air because they will all be different
15 years ago 300.00 to 350.00 now anywhere from 450.00 to 800.00
so, you might say that is a lot of work to find out all of that and i say it is part of the hobby, to be able to look at something and know its value
prices are up on all guns you can find a steal sometimes but that was on Ebay but with their new unknow why shipping rules you could find and be complete cut off to buy there are other places
and auction gives you time to get answers, a buy now makes you rush

good luck
mike

fx slug pin probe question

I have Huma pin prober on my Maverick, so to be able to flip single shot tray in i must pull a little back on cocking lever as the pin is protruding into the magazine slot when it is all the way back.

Mind you it do not feel like it is seating anything too deep, even the longest slugs and pellets seat just fine,,,,,, though i have not tried the 24 grain Zans in it.
But beasts for instance chamber effortless. can not tell if its stose or a shorter heavy i am chambering.

FX  Are expensive PCPs worth it?

OK, my response to the OP’s question: Are expensive PCPs worth it?

Answer: It is highly dependent on your Use Case for the rifle. Generally, I’d say they are not worth it. The law of diminishing returns certainly applies to PCPs.

Rationale for answer: If your use case is competition shooting and you require the highest accuracy and performance available, then an expensive PCP may be “worth it” to achieve your goals.

If your use case is backyard plinking or pesting or squirrel hunting, then the performance, accuracy and reliability of many modestly priced PCPs will be more than adequate.

Support for rationale: I must have 15+ “expensive“ PCPs (FX, Daystate, RTI, Taipan, Weihrauch, etc.). My 1st PCP was a .177 Umarex Gauntlet. I still have it. I paid $199 for it from Pyramyd Air.
I filled it with a $50 hand pump from eBay. I still have it. The regulator and hammer spring are NOT adjustable. It shoots inexpensive Crosman Premier 10.5g domes amazingly well. It has still never leaked. In 2023 I put a Sightron target scope on it one afternoon and shot consecutive Thirty Yard Challenge cards of 198, 196, 197 with the $199 rifle and Wal*Mart pellets. The 10-ring on the TYC target is .125” (1/8”) diameter.

How much more accurate is a PCP costing 10x more ($2,000) than my .177 Gauntlet going to be - and do you absolutely require higher performance? Very diminishing returns here...

Summary: Expensive items such as PCP air rifles, cameras, cell phones, watches, autos, etc are “worth it” if you get the level of enjoyment that you were hoping for… but they are often not “worth it” from a pure performance perspective.

Just the opinion of a guy who now has so many PCPs that he has lost count (truth).. but who is enjoying the heck out of them, lol - so “worth it” to me.

-Ed

That’s awesome. You’re ready to get some of your old pants and be home. Let me know. I can tell you take care of your stuff whether there is expensive or cheap

FX  Are expensive PCPs worth it?

I agree with "the machine" that more expensive guns will more easily give you a lot of fpe for the caliber but I don't think it's the quality of the materials or machining as much as it is the size of the air passages through the gun. My experience is limited to one >$1000 airgun and 5 <$500 but I was surprised the first time I had my Caiman X apart at how much bigger the valve and ports were than my P35s or Avenger. The Caiman made almost exactly the same fpe at a 100 bar reg pressure as my P35-22 makes at 145 bar. It just flows better. For pellets the Caiman did not need to flow better, it's favorite is an 18 grain and it easily pushes them 900 fps or more. But I've been messing with slugs a little and I turned it up to 120 bar for that and may go higher. I don't really need to shoot slugs but it's fun to see what it takes and what I can do.

While I agree more expensive guns tend to generate higher fpe more easily I also wonder whether that is necessary or wise. I mostly shoot in my yard and I don't really need more than 20 fpe for that. Slugs from my Caiman X will carry 1200 yards so I cannot sensibly shoot it without a good solid backstop. I need a deeper pellet trap too. Mostly I shoot 20-32 fpe airguns that use less air, make less noise, are just as accurate, and do nearly everything I want to do with an airgun. If you think that way, the extra fpe from more expensive guns just is not necessary. I often think of the guy that injured a motorist shooting at squirrels with an airgun. I don't know but I would be very surprised to learn it was a 20 fpe airgun. Especially as the power and range increase we need to be extra careful.
