Petition to Allow Laser Range Finders in Field Target Competitions

Im conflicted about this.......
Im sure it would add some points to my score. But.... it's one more thing to carry around and manage while your in the shooter's box and "on the clock". If you become dependent on it, then it dies during the match, you're back to doing it the old method anyway

Ive shot matches with some _very_ talented shooters. the kind of folks who only miss 5 over the course of a two-day match. Handing those kinds of talent a range finder could/will lead to courses being cleaned. Course designers and match directors will then start upping the difficulty levels to prevent that, making it even harder on shooters who aren't as proficient.

IMO there are other ways to grow the sport, but that's for another thread.......
well we can ALWAYS make the KZ's smaller.

Kalibrgun  Cricket 1 vs 2

Hello guys, I have been into airguns for a few years, started off on the james ketchings fun supply forum back in the day and the yellow forum.

Been off and on with airguns due to life and such. Recently joined gateway to airguns and today joined this forum to get back into it.

Looking to buy a high end bullpup as a hunter. Currently have an air arms 410 old model, accurate as heck but a bit heavy and long. Also have a talon ss(first pcp 20 years ago) that i recently got working and installed a reg on. Like the size but power with the reg is a bit low and urganomics is bad

So figure bite the bullet and buy once cry once lol

I have decided on getting a cricket and was planning on a cricket 2 .22 from charlie at Georgia airguns. Very nice guy and helpful.

Tempted on the cricket mini as its nice looking and 300 bucks cheaper at 1550 on sale. But already have a rifle and its a bit lower power than cricket 2.

However i have seen a few cricket 1s on the classified here for MUCH cheaper. So I was thinking maybe buy a used cricket 1 and send it to Charlie to work his magic. However besides the cocking lever being moved to the front, what are the differences between the cricket 1 and 2 ? Is the cricket 2 much improved?

I cant find any comparisons it seems and not much info on crickets in general. Most seem to be about the tactical model(not interested) or people talking about the 25 cals shooting slugs.

So does anybody have any info on differences between them? Is a new gen 2 worth 700 bucks or so more than a used cricket 1? I will be shooting pellets and maybe try out slugs for fun but if slugs dont shoot well not really worried.

Petition to Allow Laser Range Finders in Field Target Competitions

Hi everyone,

We’ve just launched a petition asking the WFTF to consider allowing the use of Laser Range Finders in Field Target competitions. This change could make the sport more accessible, inclusive, and aligned with modern shooting practices.

If you believe in making Field Target more open to newcomers, HFT shooters, and those with visual or technical challenges, please take a moment to read and sign the petition

Your support can help bring positive change to our sport. Thank you!
just shoot unlimited or freestyle or whatever the class is that basically has no rules...
WFTF being an international organization which caters more to a global audience of competitors will most likely cabash / smash the idea if not just ignore it.

AirMaks Arms  Katran Compact in .22 - oh Yeah!

Have CPHPs in bulk from early on from the classifieds. Wife is not nor will have any part in pest control. The heavier and so-said better brand stuff I run for pests as they hold a special place for me. In my air gun experiences and parameters to this point, CPHP's get the job done for both PCP and Springers.

Whatever fairy, pixy, or magic they sprinkle into these CZ barrels continues to amaze this average joe. If I could get the pellet or slug into that past Veteran, it was useable on my property - mostly had huge variances in elevation. Don't know yet if that is the same for this Katran. No, I would not win an accuracy contest by any means ... just saying those CZ barrels are not picky and yet turn out some darn nice accuracy across the board. That makes for a lot of ammo options :)

Prior owner already had the Katran sorted for me with said 800 fps adjustment. No reason to crony as I 'hopefully' expected the results seen today with the CPHPs. Although, not disappointed that it is looking like no moderator needed - which is contrary to the vast majority of info I digested going into this purchase.

Best grease for GX CS2 et al gear box

Well I finally settled on a grease for the gear case. The Chevron Open Gear Grease pictured above. No other grease stayed on the teeth as well. The other grease were leaving the gears dry after only a week or so of heavy use. The Chevron grease, after 3 weeks of daily use, still covered every tooth and you can see how it slooooowly runs down and replinishes the gear. This is far better than ANY grease I tried.
Mind you, this is only for the drive gears. Everything else gets Renewable Lubricants Food Grade EP grease.
Here's the Chevron grease in the gearbox after 3 weeks.

What are the downsides of semi-auto?

Very low chance of winning a BR match so these are marginally less precise, triggers not quite as nice as some other pcp's, and you tend to go through ammo and air faster.

But you can also have more fun with a semi. I know I have at times.

For example I enjoy my Steyr's, one a LP5 pistol and so much so that I sold my Olympic single shot pistol especially since I can't shoot good enough offhand to see a difference in precision.

The ProX is also more fun if speed is the goal, like for shooting steel.
Both are more precise than I thought they would be before I tried them.

My next airgun purchase will likely be a GK1 or Mordax so that's how much I like them.

Events  Some thoughts for match directors or clubs trying to Grow Field Target

As a long-time match director, I suspect almost any MD would happily agree to that suggestion.😃 Although MDs have plenty on their plates already, I also suspect they'd welcome a heaping plate of BBQ after running the show in every other regard.🥵

All it would take is a grill, and volunteer to buy the food, cook, serve and clean up after the picnic.

Volunteers?

Anyone?

Hey... where'd everyone go?

.
i just need to move in next door....

Petition to Allow Laser Range Finders in Field Target Competitions

Please explain this.... I have one idea, but beyond that, no idea how'd that could be
When you range a target incorrectly you hit higher or lower of center. Round holes get smaller as you move away from center....squares do not.

30-Yard Challenge

As you guys are all getting so good with the scores that you have been posting...

... thought you might like to see & try out the types of targets that the International Benchrest Guys (like Rickie the Airgunnero) shoot in competitions.

Attached is the WRABF 25 meter (27.34 yards) Benchrest Target. This file has their official target sizes but has been rejiggered to fit on our typical US Letter paper size - so you can print it easily at home and try it.

I've also done some research and attached the ring sizes of the WRABF 25 meter (25 meters is a similar distance to our 30 yard challenge) and the WRABF 50 meter targets. Dang! Those competition bench rest shooters are good.

For comparison, the 10-ring on our 30/40 Challenge target measures .13 inches - which is 3.3mm (millimeters).

Even crazier, all those UK shooters of this target are using 12 ft/lb .177 rifles to shoot this 25 meter target in the wind...

Happy Shooting,

-Ed

Huben  All Things HUBEN GK1 (air pistol) - Master Thread

Given this is the GK1 masterthread, what are all the different types of lubricant that the GK1 needs? Are we talking grease? Oil? 100% silicone? Something else?

For example, people talk of degassing with unscrewing the brass screw under the loading gate - if you do this it makes sense that air will push lubricant out. Do you replace the lubricant - and with what? Or not?

Thanks

Petition to Allow Laser Range Finders in Field Target Competitions

There are a lot of good reasons to allow range finders in a separate class. Posting ranges skunks those who want the additional traditional challenge.

WFTF coordinates over many countries which restricts change.
The challenge for change/inclusion will be more of a cultural challenge against tradition.

Americans are far more receptive to change, or challenge authority or shake things up, for better or worse. We have 4 divisions at most matches, 3 recognized for competition one is freestyle.
