Population Problem

Population problem? Not sure it's really a problem but I sure do have plenty of cottontails, seems like i can shoot almost daily. Lucky for me my dog sits by the window on lookout duty and alerts me when 1 comes into view and 2 outside cats perform cleanup duty when I do my job. Shots range from 95 yds and under if I want to stalk for a closer shot. Sorry no videos as I spend my $ on lead.
I hear you! Rabbits are everywhere now at my place. Just heard the same from the lady at the plant sale, a good population of them this year. I'm not a
videographer either , my strong suit is pulling the trigger😁. I can only take cell photos & email to whoever. I could not physically carry the necessary equipment to do so IF I could work it! I have a fellow air gunner that(graciously) volunteered to post my stuff on another forum for those that might be interested.

FX  FX Impact mk4 V Beeman commander

If your only focus is accuracy you don’t need to spend anywhere near 2k. It’s like a crazy wives tail in the hobby. I would however think the impact provides a MUCH more enjoyable shooting experience. It’s definitely built out of more quality components and is much more versatile.

Skull mount in process...

How do you get all the stuff off the skull? I thought about cutting the head off the last raccoon I shot and throwing it on some fire ant mounds to see what they would do to it. But I did not want to mess with the dead coon or the ants. I guess I could have boiled it.

I usually boil until tender, pick off the meat then soak in Dawn dish soap and water to soften stubborn tissues. It takes a while and careful work with wood and plastic implements to clean the green skull without damaging the still "soft" bone.

I get a lot of raccoon skulls from a trapper friend. I put the skinned head in a protected place and let the insects (ants and beatles) and natural weathering do the work. This approach works well but takes a long time.

Cheers

FX Chrono Odd since last update?

Anyone else noticed that since the last update (a little while ago) that it will give occasional spurious reading, IE you can run a string of say ten shots and one or two will be usually high but sometimes low reading spoiling the string,
At first, I was blaming the gun but after checking with another LMBR chrono these oddities didn't exist, so what has changed to make what was a reliable chrono a pain to use, mine is the original version and I checked it out when I got it in line with an LMBR and a Skan and all the reading where within about 3-5fps of each other, I know people knock the later versions, but this has been very reliable so what in the update could have changed this?

I know that people have complaints about the later versions, but why should the update have changed what was a pretty reliable chrono?
Does FX have a forum presents here?

PCP Rifle  SOLD Theoben Rapid .177

This is a Theoben Rapid in .177 that was made is 2010. This rifle holds air but has a problem with the barrel seals, a puff of air comes from the chamber area upon firing. This rifle may have been updated by Alan Zasadny, however, I have been unable to definitively confirm this info. Dovetail scope mount milled into the top of the action. No magazine, or fill adapter (fill adapters are available online). I’m sure with minimal effort the rifle will be shooting at full potential. Price is $650 shipped to the lower 48. Payment by USPS money order or bank cashier’s check. PayPal (friends/family only, goods/services - I’m almost toe the IRS threshold and I don’t want a 1099K issued). If you have a a strong forum presence and a decent amount of feedback, I’ll take a personal check too.

Anyone have a better AEA Megalodon fix?

It only happened to me once, with the "22 barrel version. But never again after that. I recently purchased the "15 version as well (both are in .457), and it works flawlessly with or without the handle. Perhaps there is a luck factor at play, I don't know. But I did put some grease on the hammer, the bolt handle and on the edges of that crescent-shaped slit. Perhaps you could try that as well and see if it makes a difference.

If Tom is the one who sold it to you, then he should find a solution. After all, this not user error, but a known flaw of the gun's design.

RTI  Mora

This 5 shot 50 yard group was yesterday with my Panthera 25/700 and 50 grain Alteros at 920fps. Just ordered a Mora sniper in 25. Was told the Mora will do that at 100 yards. Hard to imagine airgun accuracy at that level

Here's 4 shots at 100 yds indoors with my 25 caliber Mora Sniper using AEA 29.5gr pellets.

RTI  Mora Regulator Adjustment

I've watched videos and read posts about adjusting the Mora regulator. They say to degas the gun every time you make adjustments. The latest manual from RTI says that you can increase the 2nd stage reg by turning the adjustment screw clockwise.. To decrease reg pressure it says to Crack open the bleed screw and turn counterclockwise. Only mention of degassing is when you adjust the 1st stage reg which is rarely done.
Is this procedure revised since the earlier Moras?
In practical use, the 2nd stage reg can be adjusted without degassing the gun. To INCREASE reg pressure, turn the adjuster CLOCKWISE. This can be done freely. However, when DECREASING pressure you must do so in very small increments so as not to damage the regulator. Turning the adjuster 1/⁸ of a turn COUNTERCLOCKWISE at a time, then cock and fire the gun and repeat this process until the desired pressure is achieved.

Looking for air gunners in the Charlotte NC area.

There are a few of us in the mountains to the west, but I don't know anyone in your area.

If you click on "Members" above, there's a pop-down menu with a member map. That might help.

Cheers,

J~
Thx J- ... how far West? We head over to the Elijay, GA area from time to time for vacation. Beautiful country out there.

Also, thx for the Members map reference ... what a great resource!

Brad

Looking for air gunners in the Charlotte NC area.

Thank you for the references. Unfortunately, the Tar Heels Airgun Club in Mt Pleasant (closest to me) appears to be inactive as of 2023 (2 years ago). I've attempted to interact with the group on Facebook, as well as email Chris, without any reply.

If this club is still active, please let me know.

If not, I'd love to organize with anyone in the area for some meet ups at or around the Foothills Public Shooting Range (50-250 yards) in Cherryville, NC.

Snowpeak  Preordered my MAX1

Hopefully most guys will get their max 1 rifle soon that pre-ordered. A few things I wasn't expecting. There is no 1/2x20 thread on the end of the barrel. I have ordered baffles to go in the space at the end of the shroud. They will be coming to Texas so for those that want those hopefully they'll be available in a few weeks.
The guns are set quite high on the regulator from the factory. 180-200 bar.
On the plus side you can fill the rifle all the way to 300bar.
The 25 was shooting 33gr around 940fps on the one I tried.
Not sure if you turn down the reg if that will speed up or slow down. Haven't had any time to play with it, just tested one for a customer.

Other  Have to zero the scope after 5-6 shots on springer because scope rotated- SOLVED

As title, my springer keep giving me a high left group after re-zero few shots, found out that my scope rotated to the left no matter how tight I tighten the screw
There are square cushion pads between the ring and scope that made the scope rotated. After removed and cleared all the glue, tightened those screws as hard as possible, its good to go now

Snowpeak  Max 1 -- I'm drooling

Did you get a moderator for yours? If so, could you take a picture of it where is is attached to the shroud? I got mine today as well, but am wondering if there is an adapter I could use to mount an air stripper.
Just looked at it and it doesn’t appear to be the common moderator thread size. The short moderator chamber didn’t want to screw off easily but states in the manual-removable moderator. I’m going to pad it and hope that does it for me.
