Taipan  Taipan Mutant Short .22

When I looked into it before I ran across several posts where guys were running them at 12 fpe . Many here on AGN . I could PM you with their replies so I don't derail DBs thread .

Nice score Dairyboy !
Thanks! And yes as @MushroomPsyche mentioned I have had issues with it before on a Vet Short tuned at 12-15fpe. It worked fine for awhile until it didn't. Crank it up i think to around low to mid 20fpe and would work fine back down and had issues. Took gun apart and cleaned and lubed no difference. I know a few others who had the issues when tuned low also. Now would every gun have that issue? Not sure but it has been seen multiple times. But this Mutant solves any issue with that. Also now have a different 12fpe gun so won't need that low power anyways.

Hello and help

Seen a couple of people here post about Utah Airguns. Are they a trusted shop? Any comments about buying used from them?
Very trusted shop for sure. In my opinion their used stuff is generally priced way too close to new. A of A to me has a bit more down to earth pricing on used guns.

2 cylinder tuxing 4500 psi compressor PRV

What makes you qualify to write such a book? Do you think they make their own prvs? Do you think they make their own pipe and fittings also? Why does the gauge go up to 6000 psi?

Fyi: I was able to get another turn and a half with more to spare out of my prv and crank my pressure up to 5100 PSI with no problems.

Fyi2: ... and speaking from experience, anything with a pressure rating has to be tested to at least one and a half times it's intended max pressure. We usually do two or three times the intended pressure just for us before we call an inspector to do it at one and a half times.
Just because the guage has the range doesn't mean it's meant to go that far (like a car speedo that goes to 190 but your governor cuts ignition at 105). You have a lot more faith in Chinese materials and engineering standards than I do. I have the same bov on the 4 cylinder, and it came preset for 3000, when I had some semblence of a convo with tuxing people they didn't suggest going past 300 bar when I wanted 310.

Using a guage with a wider measurement range than you need can help lessen the odds of the bourdon tube in the guage being memory sprung as yours did. You seem to be set on this, best of luck and be careful. Chinesium fails more often than not.

FX  FX Maverick Compact .30 Cal - First shots review

Yes and no, I kept the .25 hammer in the .22, no real issues, my SD isn't 0 but it's not horrible. My shot count is excellent.
Good to know…the .30 hammer weight didn’t work for me when I dropped to .25. Speeds were super inconsistent. Crazy just dropping that little bit evened it right out. Been considering a 22 compact barrel. Glad to know the 25 weight will be good.

Hello and help

Greetings form Georgia. I'm new to the forum and new to the sport. I've owned a Gamo (I think a Raptor) for several years but bought it on a whim with very little information. Having gone down the rabbit hole now, I know that I really don't know much about anything. I mostly use my rifle for squirrel and rabbit hunting. The occasional groundhog. I'd like to buy a PCP and outfit it with a decent scope. I'd really like a Bluetooth scope, but that may be for another day given that I don't know much and I'm on a bit of a budget. I'd really like to spend less than $1,500 including a compressor, but I could justify (I can talk myself into anything) $2,000. Any recommendations? Just looking for a nice, accurate squirrel hunter.

I know on some other forums the noobs get razzed, so I'm prepared with armor and shield.

Thanks in advance for the replies.
Yong heng water cooled compressor is a good first compressor just under $250. It can fill rifles and (tanks if you do it in stages from empty) refilling tanks is no problem. Replacement piston assemblies are $25. If you only want to fill the rifle and don't mind waiting a basic air cooled vevor compressor will work. Riles you have a lot to choose from. There are some nice deals in the classifieds. It depends on how many squirrels you got. Lever action or semi auto. If I had an infestation I would be using my aea sf compact semi auto. Super quiet (internally baffled) and shoots as fast as you can squeeze.

12 oz Co2 quality?

Back in the mid-seventies I recall an occasional dead one. That was when a five-pack of Crosmans was all I could afford or find at the time and it was anger-making.

Nowadays they all hold their gas (unlike me), so I guess we're getting our money's worth. I would like to check that video out. If one brand of cartridge is better than the others, we'd all like to know.

Cheers,

J~

Tango Sierra Notos Moderator

Waiting for my 10 days and 10 posts to come so I can pm Tango Sierra for his moderator and extra mags. If it ever upgrade to a Zelos, would the Moderator work on it?
First post to count towards my 10 to see if you had any luck on the Tango Sierra mod subject.

Huben  GK1 in .22 or .25?

Michael,
First it is a pistol, not a rifle. Pistols are typically used at short distances. The GK1 is NOT a plinker. It is powerful enough to damage unintended infrastructure. I own a V1 and a V3 in .25 and have hit pigeons at 100 meters. It is also a revolver and its munition retention in the magazine is a chamfer machined into the magazine's bores that catch the skirts of pellets. Slugs do not have a skirt and the only way they can be retained is friction. In other words, the gun is not designed to use slugs, nor do slugs at the intended short distances, add any value., only more cost If your intended use is for high power and exceptional accuracy is your requirement, then the .25 is superior to the .22 . The GK1 is also loud. It needs a good moderator. The higher the power selected, the louder it is. Only you know your intended purpose. Your call.
Many thanks. Yes I intend to use it as a pistol with a reflex optic. Primarily steel shooting, maybe some quick acquisition training, and maybe some close range pest control.

Stoeger  Leaning to the XM1 Scout

I got my scout about a week ago from airgun revisions after seeing the recommendations on here..... shoots about a 1-2 feet low at 25 yards... I'm running fx .25 25 grain through it. Ive tried 3 different scope setups. I'm going to try lighter pellets next before I send it stoeger. Disappointed. I bought a refurbished hatsan flash 22 same time and it's dead on. So even though I'm new to air I know it's not me because the hatsan is capable of under quarter size groups at 20 yards with me pulling the trigger.
2 ft low at 25yd is nuts , you running a moderator? Sounds like clipping is your issue. Call up rich @ airgunrevisions and he may be able to help over phone.

How could the tune affect how the magazine cycles ?
The Veteran uses the force of the hammer when fired to reset the anti-double feed mechanism. This is how the gun knows the difference between the gun being fired and the gun being de-cocked. As Dairyboy mentioned in the past, he had issues with the Veteran not cycling the magazine when he had the hammer spring tension backed out to shoot 12 FPE. His new gun being the Mutant with no anti-double feed would obviously not experience this issue which is why I mentioned it.
