Selling for a buddy, he doesn't use it as much as he would like to, to keep it, so he's asking I sell it for him. It used to be mine, I got it from a member on this forum. It's been used plenty of time in the day to search for iguanas as well as at night. It works phenomenally, and is very nice, the buttons are all in close proximity where you don't need to over reach. These are typically priced at $2500

Selling for $1450, comes with original box, manual, battery charger, etc.

N/A  Please, some guidance for very accurate/target air rifle + associated hardware. Finances are a concern.

Hello,

I used to shoot long range rifle and competitive action pistol sports but a major health change has made that very difficult.

I’ve been working with some spring pump air pistols that a dear friend gifted me. I’m enjoying that however sitting and standing still and for any significant length of time is very difficult for me. Having to pump each time is trying (not impossible but very limiting).

The participants of this forum have been incredibly kind and helpful in getting the air pistols back in service.

I must admit that I miss the sport of prone rifle shooting very much and I believe that I could practice this in our yard.

My dear friend has offered to make me a safe target and backstop, I've got some spare wood pieces left over from a few years back.

Would you be kind enough to guide me as to a very accurate rifle for under $500 or so (if that exists?).

I would imagine that I could transfer one of my rifle scopes to this new platform.

I would similarly imagine that PCP is the preferred platform but I”m open to suggestions.

Realistically I would be practicing at 50-100 yard distances. I plan on only shooting paper targets for little groups. Not sure which caliber is the most appropriate option.

I don’t own any compressors so I’ll need your help as to which make and model I should consider. Funding is a difficulty for me on a limited and fixed income but I really miss the sport and doing things that keep the brain active. I don’t want to buy something that will fail on me in short order.

thank you.
scroll to the bottom of this page Daisy 853 ($139 to your door ) very very easy to pump SSP . sounds very cheap but it is right on target with my Anny @ 20 meters . $2600 rifle .

Daystate  Wolverine

Nice to see a thread about Wolverines, haven't heard much about them lately. I've got a .177 standard with a Forester stock talk about attractive, often show it to non-airgun people who loose their minds when they see it..."What kind of wood is that!" I never shot it much, I discovered Taipan Veterans about the same time as the Wolv came along...I don't think I e

ven put the mag in it. What's to like (love) about this platform it's no muss no fuss no adjustments just air it up load cock and shoot...repeat...plus out of the box accuracy...not the best trigger but consistent...About a year ago...I was taunting a buddy to buy it from me. (he bought a Royale 400 instead) I shot two 10 shot groups a day apart no warm ups or best group of the day, just printed 10 shots at 55yds and again the next day...yeah one flier per day/group to keep it honest. Does best with JSB 13.43s at around 800fps. Also shot one 30y challenge card with no practice or warm up think it was 194...just to say I did it. Point is no Hassel competive gun out of the box...nothin' else I've got will out shoot it...but the Wolverine is a big bench gun...to me. If you are in the don't want to adjust/fiddle with it, like me...I highly recommend the Wolverine.

Can you explain to me what "Dwell Time" is please?
Dwell time is how long the valve stays open. Valve opens, pressure builds behind pellet, it starts moving, valve stays open as pellet starts travel, dwell ends and valve closes, air expands as pellet continues down barrel. Long dwell time more full pressure air behind pellet farther down barrel, diminishing results for final speed, increasing wasted air. Search function is your friend. Better explanations available than I'm capable of writing. Faster closing time= shorter dwell = better efficiency = more shot per tank = quieter firing.

Please - Need suggestions for scope rings **UPDATED**

Hawke Tactical 2 piece medium rings on my HW95K with a 4-16 x 44 mm Hawke compact 30 mm scope. Use alcohol wipes to thoroughly clean ALL mounting surfaces and tighten ring caps to 18" lbs with ring bases to 30" lbs.

You need to think this thing out.I agree with Motorhead: Get a Benjamin or a Crossman. They are plenty accurate and do not cost a lot. Yes, you need to fill them with air, and that is another reason to get one. They have a large shoot count.
I usually buy used, you can do that and save,in the mean time Study.
Will you be able to use a hand pump?,will a springer going to be to hard to cock?
I think the best deal is a Crossman Challenger.take your time and good luck(y)

Daystate  Wolverine

I know the guilt feelings and the wife concerns been there and still going through it….

The Daystate Wolverine HP R .22 was my introduction into the PCP world. Coming from a model 48 RWS Diana .177 that I got when I was 10. Let’s say the daystate was a huge upgrade and new learning curve for me. Picked up the gun from AOA in 2020 and have loved the gun ever since. I have never touched any adjustments other than the Scope due to experimenting with different pellets. My one and only complaint is the weight of the gun and using it for hunting due to the weight. I just recently picked up a FX Impact M4 .25 to try a bullpup. Time will tell but I don’t think I’ll ever put the daystate back in the corner. It’s too nice of a gun. I’ll share a pic later today of the Daystate. The M4 is still under construction…

Skout  Skout EVO precision with slugs

Thanks for sharing your experience. Following with interest. Im thinking about buying an Epoch Compact just for fun and maybe hunting. Not necessarily for EFT. So I appreciate you taking the time to post and share your real world findings. There are a lot of features in the Skout design I like. Electronic trigger, Ambi safety (for us southpaws), Bullpup design, hammerless valve system, adjustable up and down regulators without degassing the gun. And I thought the barrel attachment with tapers and a ratcheting nut system would be very solid. Maybe it coming loose was just a fluke? The first shot with higher velocity is troublesome to me. For a hunting gun an accurate “cold bore” shot would be important. Hope you get it sorted out and dialed in! I’m having fun following along.

If I didn’t have out of town guests this weekend I would have attended the match. For the time being I’m going to watch and wait to see how things sift out with your Skout. Maybe I’ll see you at a Mormon Lake FT match this summer.
Rick

You're welcome Rick and yeah looking forward to seeing you out there.

As soon as I got the EVO, seeing how the barrel holding mechanism was done, I though to myself that it would bite me at some point but not this quick, LOL. The spring tension holding the latch is hardly anything and Skout should have designed a "LOCK" into the system anyway so this wouldn't happen, that's all there is to it.

Reminds me of when I used to put my precision rifles in my drag bag and when I had to walk a long way to the next stage the windage turret had moved. Miss, miss, oh it's way right???, compensate left, then after the stage, well lookey there, the turret is .6 mil off. So I ordered a scope with locking turrets right away.

Moderator clipping question

The OP is chasing his tail. It is all about confidence in your gun. You must know between your ears that any observed fault is yours not the equipment. This is a rule you must observe to become a better marksman. There is a very easy and simple way to determine if your moderator is clipping, Simply insert a test rod through the moderator into the barrel and observe that the rod exits the moderator exactly in the center. If it does, clipping is not your problem. Unfortunately, nobody makes these test rods, so you have to make your own.

What did you do airgun related today.

old vet,the pellet price wasn’t bad I didn’t think. About the same as 5-6 years ago. But I’ve seen Meisterkugeln listed much higher The Targets are where you get burned. Shipping prices all most doubles them. If I ordered a couple thousand of them I’d probably be ok as shipping is the same. Beer thief I’ll give the card stock a try. Thanks guys
