What Paper Target Did You Shoot Today

Watched some ytvid's on sighting thru a diopter, really help since 1st I've ever used. Shot another paper before this doing adjustments. Really took my time on this one. #1 was early trigger pull. Shouldn't have shot 17 & 18 as I started a sneezing fit after 16 and didn't wait long enough after. Started losing concentration at the end.
Even off a tripod lots more technique to this than just plinking. Tripod's even has it challenge with the minor repositioning between shots.

Barra  Slugs in the 250z

Sorry if you’re seeing this again from HAM. But I figured I’d share…

Okay so I finally took a picture of a grouping today. I switched to 36gr custom made Franco slug from 35gr(cuz I’m running low 😭😭). They look most like NSA cup base hollow points. They are really really nice slugs and they are very affordable… anyway I had to tune slightly with a reg bump and tune. Reg set right at 2500/2550. Hammer spring about 1/8th turn from flush. *I have the slug power kit and thimble valve ported to 4.4mm…

I did shoot this off a tripod but not in a rigorous type of way. I shot this kind of fast and in very windy conditions. Mostly because I’m impatient haha and I’m a hunter I never get perfect conditions while chasing critters. My range is in a slightly less windy spot but it’s still not nice out there haha.

Anyways this is 7 slugs from 45 yards. Measured with laser range finder.

Don’t know the FPS because my chrono is loaned out to a friend haha but I’ll find out this week. I did shoot at a squirrel earlier at 114.8 yards(I’m a nerd y’all! And got gifted a rangefinder recently lol) and missed low. I wasn’t holding over at so like 6-8 inches of drop at that range. Either the slugs have a great bc or they are moving at decent speed.

Gamo  Gamo Arrow review (my first pcp)

congrats, glad you like it. I liked the .22 so much I got a .177 as well so I am a bit biased. The .177 is a bit louder and has a nicer wood grain on it. I still don't think either require a moderator but I did add them to make it more so. For comparison, below Pic with Taipan Vet 1 .25 long shows that all 3 are at roughly 37 1/4 long with mods on the ends. Vet feels 1/2 lb or more heavier mostly due to laminate stock.

Also, You can remove the barrel shroud and unscrew stripper and it is 1/2 x 20 theaded to add mod direct to barrel. unfortunately the barrel is shorter than the tube so you would need some sort of extension or possibly a tanto with cone would fit. I didn't try this so its a complete guess if any mod would work.

Other  Mil-Comm TW25B for spring piston lube?

There's not alot of load on the cylinder walls. Lubrication type is not nearly as important as amount and how it's applied. I flip flop between traditional petroleum greases and krytox. Krytox will produce ~10 fps less than a perfect sealing petroleum lubed gun. Even if un detectable there's always some dieseling that adds that 10fps over the krytox.

Remember two things.
1 absolutely no grease ahead of the seal or the seal lip.
2 use a 1/4 of what you think you need..

And for the love of God don't slobber grease all over the spring to deaden twang.

I hate rats, but they are hard to shoot!

I put a lot of bird seed and a bunch of chicken out there. The rats comes by 2 to 3 times a night, but never stay long and only stays still for 2 seconds at most. It grabs a bite to eat and leaves. By the time I react to the alarm it is long gone. I don't have the patience to wait for hours with the window open hoping to get a shot off. I could use peanut butter, but the ants would eat it more then the rats. This rat is big and fat so probably has a lot of choices to eat and doesn't take any chance staying out in the open where it can be picked off by an owl.

Other  Mil-Comm TW25B for spring piston lube?

Hello. I am getting ready to clean and lube my first springer. After checking out many discussions and YouTube videos, I’ve decided to go with either Moly lube or Krytox 205.

The best choice for Moly seems to be the Dow Corning M77. It is specified to contain between 60% to 70% Moly. I believe the Honda or AC Delco M77 grease is the same stuff. I cannot find any moly content specs for any of the airgun specific moly pastes.

I’m leaning towards Krytox, however. Which is why I am wondering if anyone has tried Mil Comm T25B. I already have some TW25B and it seems to be a similar type grease. It is specified non flammable and has a temperature range better than Krytox. Has anyone used or heard of using TW25B on a springer in place of moly or krytox. Or any reason why it should not be used?

Thank you.

RTI  RTI Mora just keeps getting better.

Did you start with the valve all the way open? Curious what the start fps was prior to tweaking. Those Jts are screaming! Very nice shooting Joe.

Oh, and what's the reg set to? I've been fine tuning mine (600 .25) for 38 grain .250 Zan's but a buddy is doing well with those same JTS pellets you are shooting and 36 grain H&N .25's

Im strictly a bench shooter so slugs are not anything I've experimented with. As for pellets, my tune began at 110 bar on the reg with the valve adjuster 1/4 turn from fully closed. Ideally I was aiming for 970 fps with the 29.5 AEA pellets. The results were excellent but even so someone recommended I try 1030 fps. Well that speed too is yielded excellent results.

My tuning philosophy for pellets is pretty much the exact inverse of what most guys use to tune slugs. I believe in a short sharp blast of air to get the pellet out of the barrel with the absolute minimum amount of trailing air. This minimizes the vortices that cause drag and pull the pellet offline. So what does that mean? It means a higher reg pressure and a very short dwell time for the valve.

Other  Huben Power Cricket-MAX-ATH Regulator

I put one on an .22 Airforce Talon with a 19" barrel. It wasn't the FPS for me it was dropping the regulated pressure to 1800psi and throwing JTS 25.39gr pellets at 850FPS +/- 5.

I did test it at 2800psi and was getting 1100FPS.

Calculate your barrel volume and multiply by 3 or 4. The Dream has a 25CC plenum and the Max has a 50cc plenum. If your Gauntlet is a .30 the 50CC plenum may not be large enough to add much FPS.

Snowpeak  P35 and Bullshark O-rings

@JimD, if you wouldn't mind and beyond what came with the rifle, where are you getting spares? Getting under the hood of my Bullshark shortly for a Huma regulator swap, and I'm sure what came with it and the reg will do for that part, but thinking longer term. I am only seeing full replacement kits from UK vendors online.

DNT zulus 5-20 mounting bracket question

Check out how far back mine is. I gotta put my eye right against the cup.
I don’t think you will have a problem either wayView attachment 557969
That's perfect, I was actually looking at it backwards online. That's how I need mine. Around 9 inches from shoulder is what i usually do. I ended up ordering one today. I will hopefully try it out on Monday. I'm definitely looking forward to it. Just about half the length and weight of my arken 6-24. Thanks for the picture

Snowpeak  Pinty Bullpup

Your right about it screwing right on, but it's not 1/2x20 threads. I have 3 China pups. A P-15, Bull shark & a Pinty. The 1/2 x 20 mod will screw on loosely & tighten up, but it's not a guarantee it will not clip your pellets. I have tried weihrauch mods on all 3 of my pups barrels & they worked fine, but there is no guarantee the next one won't clip?

30-Yard Challenge

USARB, National Benchrest League N50, Extreme Benchrest/EBR, BR UK, UK Benchrest, etc… all use .224 plugs as the standard plug since they follow WRABF/ERABSF rules.

We can use the ISSF .221’s and below if we want to but. our scores will not be accurate or comparable to the great majority (the world).
