Chronograph Madness

The only other Chronograph i've seen with repeatability accuracy is the Pro-chrono DLX, but they specify it in timing ns... kinda frustrating, you'd have to do the maths on sensor spread & calculate a %.

Adapters - all the work is still valid, you'd just add a 20.1mm round end to slide into a NateChrony, which also uses adapters!

World first - work has started on open sourcing the adapters & helping people make NateChrony compatible adapters:
All my HT-X3006 adapters are already out there: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:6977381

I think I can just create a single dovetail adapter that fits the Nate, which would allow reusing the mounts I designed for the HT-X3006.

I want to be able to use the sights on the pistol when firing. What is the distance between the sensor bore-line and the top of the Nate Chrony? If it's more than ~ 1.5 cm, how big is the sensor area? On the HT-X3006, I can offset the pellet path a few mm to get the sights above the housing.

Thanks!

FX  FX DRS Classic V2 - Wish List

You missed the key word in the title of this thread..., 'Classic'. Personally, I have no interest in any of the other versions of the DRS platform, only the Classic. I would like to hear what others would like to see changed by FX on the classic models going forward.
I do love my DRS .22 Cal 600 mm with super powerful plenum...... But.....

I really would like it to have a bigger air capacity to have better shot count.

Battery power for my GX CS2

BSJ, can you power the GX compressor with a Makita battery? Thanks for the other information. I was just repeating what I saw in reviews so I am not surprised it is not totally accurate.

I thought some of you might appreciate a little data. I used the 6 amp hour again a few minutes ago and the voltage afterwards was below 18V as I expected. It is now on the charger (acting normal with two bars showing). The lowest voltage I saw when the compressor was running was 16.6V. The four gun fills were all of my P35s which store about 250cc of air at 250 bar (or less but I pumped up to 250 bar each time). The start and end voltage and a little more fill data is as follows:

P35-22 160-250bar 20.7-20.1V
P35-177 150-250bar 20.3-19.4V
P35-177 130-250bar 29.6-18.5V
P35-22 150-250bar 18.6-17.6V

The voltages in each case were no load. As you can see, the battery gains a tenth of a Volt or more just sitting there waiting to be used. I could undoubtedly get an additional gun fill or maybe more from a battery but I don't need to and prefer to be careful with the battery protection acting funny.

I consider this to be a total success. I now know I could take this little light compressor with me to a gun range or otherwise and with a battery or two have plenty of air. I can even put the compressor right at my shooting bench and not have to carry the gun to the truck or something to fill it. But I can also use the same compressor in my kitchen close to my shooting bench at home using 120V to save a little wear and tear on the batteries. And if I run out of battery power I can hook it to my truck and fill that way.
That's the kind of experience that made me give up on using an SCBA tank.

Traditional Rifle  SOLD Walnut Prosport .177 and 2-7X32 Airmax.

Air Arms prosport in walnut .177, purchased new 11/23. I don't see any marks on it, the bluing is deep and practically flawless. Favorite pellet is QYS domed 8.48, but will shoot several others pretty well. Last crony average with the QYS was
875 fps.
I have been through the rifle completely, cleaned polished, etc. Custom delrin guides on factory spring. Trigger is tuned and has a Rowan set back trigger blade. Front of compression tube is blued, the cocking handle has been blackened. The 4 stock screws are polished and blued, the safety is blued, although it shows some wear now. There is a blued stop pin hole reducer in the middle hole, and can be moved to which ever hole you like. The stock has 6 coats of pure tung oil on it. I have taken very good care of this rifle, selling it because it sits more than I shoot it. There is a post on AGN of the stuff I did when I tuned it.

Rifle and like new Hawke Airmax 2-7X32 along with owners manual and factory trigger blade and spring guides included $750 plus $50 for UPS insured and tracked shipping. No trades.
Personal check or Money order, I will ship when it clears. If you want to talk on the phone that's fine as well.

Electronic bubble levels

Hey guys I agree with all of you.
But ones I got to 65 and the condition in my eyes - I need reading glasses at least 2 diopter to see what I have in my hands. It was coming slow, I asked for eye surgery years ago they told me it will come back. So I learned to walk around the roadblock.

I can see the target @ 2-300, but I cannot see what is attached to my scope bell... anything shorter distance is just all blur.
Anything darker room or darker sky - I need these reading glasses to handle my fingers.

When setting up my gear at the bench, when all done I am very happy to put the reading glasses aside. And this way are my scopes focus tuned as well.
And I hate to wear glasses and trying not to use as much possible ... trying to save my far vision.

Shooting strings at long range, without removing from eye box, I am looking into these electronic LED lights as a go-nogo only, from a mechanics perspective me to believe nothing beats the bubble vial.

What was a reason you got rid of these gizmos? I also like to read negative reviews first :)

Crazy price of used guns

I’ve bought in the classifieds here and other places. Been good experiences nearly always. Buying new or used, an item is worth what you can get for it. Economy is up, it’s worth more. Economy is going downhill and that million dollar Shelby isn’t doing as well. If I want to sell something for a certain price then I know it may take a while or maybe never. Sure there are items I think are overpriced and I might make an offer or just move on. No one is forced to buy anything. Thre are a few on this post that should get over themselves.

Here we go again !!

Sorry for bringing up such an old thread, but not much info out there for some of these Evanix guns.

I know the Rex platform is made to be a big bore, but saw they also have it in lower calibers (.177,22,.25).
Having you or anyone else here had the chance of playing with one in lower caliber, and if you had how was the performance like with power and shot count?

I don't like these skunks either

I'm beginning to wonder if all animals really want is an acknowledgement of their existence, if not to put them at ease, at least to keep them in the negotiation phase and not the nuclear one. The "don't tread on me" rattlesnake shake comes to mind (not the Gadsen flag, blessed be). I keep bees and if I make a happy buzzing noise when I play around their hive they don't sting me; they don't even bump me. Hmm...
Perhaps...haha But with skunks it's simply a matter of logic. Their eyesight is poor. By talking to them, you arent startling them further when caged. But we've all heard the saying that 'music soothes the savage beast'. Perhaps there is something to that.
At least in my experience the trap/talk/cover relocate has been 100% opposed to shooting them, which has also been 100% for me, but 100% of the time with them spraying.

In any case, I think the only singing I would do if ever faced with a grizzly bear would be the chorus of me shtting myself!

If you must keep the food source there, then live catch it in a trap. Go out, cover with a blanket. Dont try to sneak up on it. Their eyesight isnt great, but their hearing is excellent. Just talk as you go up to it, gently put a blanket or towel over the live catch cage and relocate it. I've trapped quite a few in this way and have never had one spray.

FX  FX DRS Classic V2 - Wish List

I agree with all of the above. But it is important to hold the price point on this great rifle And it is really great just as it is. But another version I would like to see is one with an adjustable hammer spring like the last Wildcat. Or an adjustable power port like the streamline. I know most people wouldn’t use it but I like how I can quickly change from heavy to light ammo or change to low power for those times when high power is too much power, with just a turn of a dial On my streamline and Wildcat. That is why I’m not getting rid of either of those rifles. First FX needs to follow up with their promised accessories such as the carbon fiber barrel shroud and they need to change their outdated magazines which are hard to load compared to some of the aftermarket ones which I am using now. They bought out Rat Sniper for the Hybrid slugs they can buy out one of the magazine guys too And have a much better magazine. If they don’t come out with another plentum somewhere in the mid 40 to 50cc volume they aren’t listening to their customers. It’s not that it is needed but it is wanted.

BRK Ghost with slug barrel.

Congratulations! What a very nice duo! I would order slugs of different diameters and weights. I would also call AoA and see what diameter slugs they recommend for that barrel but each barrel is slightly different. How cool!
Thanks.....Yeah, I just ordered it this evening and am super pumped about this setup and can't wait to get it and start shooting it. I kept hearing for a while about BRK coming out with a slug barrel for the Ghost and they finally did. If it shoots anything like my current Ghost, I will be very happy. This barrel is 28 inches long compared to the original 23 inch also.

What Paper Target Did You Shoot Today

1st 10 meter PCP. Received free be pure chance.
No where close to everyone's pic's I see here. And I was shooting off a tripod, 10yds is best I can get shooting wall to wall.
Totally different than my big bore and something to get used to.

Awesome shooting and congratulations on the new Coltri!

Chronograph Madness

...... I need REPEATABILITY better than that, which is a number nobody else specifies, but the Nate appears to.

For now, I need to do some more testing to see where the HT-X3006 fits into the picture. If that flunks out, the Nate looks like a good alternative. The specs look like they would definitely do the job, but it means re-doing weeks of designing 3D printed adapters for all of the various air pistols I have to support.

The only other Chronograph i've seen with repeatability accuracy is the Pro-chrono DLX, but they specify it in timing ns... kinda frustrating, you'd have to do the maths on sensor spread & calculate a %.
