Let's talk timers!

Which for sake of conversation I'll Not agree with ....
Having witnessed many times of a shooter in his "Box" sitting with there gun fiddling around with there gear, pellets, position etc ... only to start timer once all situated, THIS IS NOT RIGHT !!!
All that is required of a shooter to do their 4 shots is allotted to 5 minuets period.

Lots of abusing the time limit during matches.

I'm usually wrangling one of my sons and their equipment as well as my own, and sometimes both sons, and my shooting squad still typically finishes the course 45 minutes before some of the worst of the wind-waiters. Everyone knows who those folks are. They'll sit there and wait and wait and wait for the wind to be what they want before they pull the trigger. It's cheating, plain and simple.

Let's talk timers!

If a shooter is chronically taking advantage of the timer in this manner during a GP or Nationals, it's up to their squad mates to gently nudge them to follow the rules. If they continue to act in the manner described, involve a marshal. It's the shooters responsibility to follow the rules as they are explained during the shooters meeting. If the squad they are shooting with isn't interested in enforcing those rules, so be it. This is what typically leads to slow downs and backups during a match for those who've wondered.

As a side, I think timers should start when the shooter enters the shooters box, even if it's to check strings before setting up your gear. Either that, or remove the 1min for set up.

Feedback

you can have mine, if it was possible to donate, i care not for such shallow metrics.
I think that it has value in regard to selling in the classifieds. When I’m looking at an item that I might consider purchasing I always check the feedback of the seller.

Karma Airguns EQ Trigger Adjustment and Upgrade Kit

Shame!!! A big request for a great PCP rifle, and in the next moment adding a detail for trigger optimization. People, the rifle still does not have a presentation of shooting at 50 and 100 meters, and the problems are there. Very very unfortunate!!!

And what results would satisfy you? The combinations of barrel length, caliber, and projectile choice (slugs and pellets) are exponential.

I'm not fanboying Karma in any way. But the request for "evidence" portrayed as a criticism runs a bit rampant around here.

Chasser 177

Got a shot to shoot today, And after two co'2 tubes. got the hang of the pistol It shot great going to use it to get back in to pistol, cheaper way, when i am steady with the old hand, it will be time to go with the Mark ii or the lll. great little gun thanks
Is this the Diana Chaser that you have? I’d like to hear more about it. I’m thinking about building up a light carbine for my nephew for his birthday. It’s not until October but I’ve been kicking around the idea. Please tell us about power level, shot count and noise level And general overall opinion. Thanks.

Crazy price of used guns

I was curious as to what folks feel a "good discount" from the new list should be on a gun. I buy and sell (buy about 50% more than sell) a LOT, and I am, well, let's say VERY impulsive when something new and shiny launches, I am usually one of the first in line with the AMEX out and a smile on my face. I also tend to over buy certain brands/models (RAW, older FX, Kalibergun, and others), so I end up with multiples of the same gun, and when I see the boxes piling up, I tend to realize I do not need 3 HM100x.22, so I re-list one or two.

I feel like I am almost a bit too low on used guns, as once I purchase something, I just count that money as gone, when I sell, well, that is just a bit extra to recycle into something else and tend to get multiple responses in the first few minutes and a sale happens quckily.

New is where I struggle. I have a new Evol (newest with SUB MOA barrel, etc.) posted at roughly 20% of a discount from new. I by no means am married to that price, but would rather price it to sell in the first few days than have it linger. I get that not everyone is a buyer for every gun posted, but feel with what I buy new (high-end from reputable sellers, AoA, Utah, etc) that most members would see them as a good value. Some sell in 5 minutes, some sit for months, or never sell, so is that more just that folks want certain brands or models, or should things be priced at more of a discount off the bat to get more traction?

I am into the Evol I have listed for roughly 2800.00. Have it listed for 2300, would I sell for 1000.00, no, would I sell for 1950.00, most likely. I also know guys like to negotiate and have had more than one member get mad when I do not, so now I have built in a bit of a buffer to allow for some back and forth.

Long post for a simple question, I guess. What is the discount form list you feel is fair as a starting point when selling a new gun in the classifieds? Do you negotiate or just list it for what is a fair price?

Karma Airguns EQ Trigger Adjustment and Upgrade Kit

Manufactured by AEA Precision Airguns in China and Karma Airguns employs a proprietary in-house barrel rifling process. We need to bring production back to America.

How much more are you willing to pay for the same rifle? Statements like this are isolationist and reductive.

Battery power for my GX CS2

I think I've used the 6 amp hour for 3 refills of one of my P35s and it's voltage while not connected to a load is still over 18V but under 19V so I plan to use it one more time - but I think one more refill will drive it below 18V resting. I'll also keep an eye on running voltage which I'd like to keep above 15V.

I think I understand better why the charge indication bars do not work when using a milwaukee battery to the drop down converter and compressor. Milwaukee has used a proprietary technology in their battery protection system for around 10 years. I think it is called red lithium technology. They advertise that it is tools and batteries communicating but there are other views of what is occurring. But it is part of the battery protection technology and is not expected to work when the battery is not connected to a non Milwaukee tool. So no charge bars. My monitoring of voltage takes the place of that protection technology (at least in my mind) so I plan to keep on using my Milwaukee batteries. The 8 amp hour recharged fine and I think this 6 amp hour will too. But from what I read DeWalt and Makita 18V batteries do not have a similar circuit. So they may be better batteries to use in this application (and the GX is reportedly using a Makita battery). I think the same thing would happen if I put one of my Milwaukee batteries into a converter so it could be plugged into the GX battery powered compressor. The tool works but there is reason to be concerned the battery protection may not work.

I may reduce my use of the battery power for my GX soon not because I am not confident in it but just because I'm shooting from home and my bottle or the 120V power supply for the GX are both available. But if I have any issues I will update this thread or otherwise make it known.
GX are compatible with Makita batteries. But they certainly don't come with a Makita battery.
It can't be charged on a Makita charger. And you can't charge Makita batteries on their charger.

Unofficial AGN Monthly Shooting Challenge - April 2025

I shot this today, been meaning to do it. FX DRS Tactical .22 cal 600mm, Element Helix Scope. MDT Ground pod up front Caldwell rabbit ear bag in back.
Hi Charles,
How are you liking your DRS Tactical? When it was announced I was very tempted. I’d had the $$ saved up for my Walther LG400 for a long time but it was out of stock every place in the world it seemed. Then the DRS Tactical caught my eye. Fortunately I resisted and just a couple weeks later I got the email that the Walther was back at Krales.

Airgun Technologies  Uragan 2 questionable* 🤭 raw power

Hello,

After I ended banned on UK AG forum for “spamming”, after I directly answered what was my max power achieved with Uragan 2/ .25/ 700mm, I want to share it here for all interested. Hopefully, people here will be more interested than people there 😅

So… I’m playing for some time with my U2, specifically interested in heavier slugs and ELR with transonic velocities, so I can get better BC than usual. After some findings about HS tension screw on factory default settings, I started tuning the balanced valve. My logic was next: if by default HS tension is too high, what would be the balanced valve tune to make maximum out of it? I was thinking like: if I’m not bringing any new stress to valve by doing so…

Btw my only proof of good tuning was ES; if it’s low- I’m good.

Finally, I achieved some respectable numbers with different slug weights and here’s my “middle ground”:

ZAN slugs 37grain@333mps (1092fps) and ES 6. That’s 98 foot-pounds of energy 😳

Obviously, lighter slugs are going above speed of sound, therefore my future research goal is to play with +40grainers, either with CARM magazine or one by one.

Just for further reference, at the end, when I realized close to what I’m at, I added some minimal tension to HS, but far from questionable in terms of added airgun stress and mostly because ATM it was easier to turn HS little up instead of digging the valve to close it up just for a few degrees.

I haven’t even tested air efficiency but roughly it’s not below 30, maybe even more.

I hope that this findings are helpful for you all, I would be very happy if I give you at least a small amount of knowledge that you all gave to me.

'Been there, done that'..., so to speak. I had a great tune on my U2 .25 700 that was shooting 44gr at 980fps with outstanding accuracy and consistent ES of 3fps. Life was good for a few hundred rounds until the o-ring on the shoulder of the valve poppet split! Pulled the rifle down, replaced the o-ring and all was good. A few hundred rounds later, same story..., split o-ring. I've had the o-ring split 4-times with the hammer spring adjuster plug no tighter than the factory setting of flush with the back of the block.

The problem with the U2 is the valve assembly is improperly engineered to handle the hard hammer strike that produces the best tune.

I'm now running a tune that shoots same 44gr slugs at 950fps but with a much lighter hammer strike. The tune now gives an ES of about 8FPS. All in all..., I am good with the tune as accuracy is still good and so far, the o-ring on the poppet has not split again after a few hundred shots.

I hope you have better luck with your 'hot' tune on your rifle than I have had with mine.

FX DRS .22 for NRL22?

I can take the other side of that and say that the .22 LR generally has more FPE compared to even a .25 high power slugger. So, if we're trying to be fair, why not allow same or similar FPE for NRL-22? I've heard whining that the slightly greater BC of a .25 slug like the Altaros Smooth 49.5 grain or .22 Altaros King 40 grain makes it "unfair" for the rimfire shooters with bullets with slightly less BC. But no one mentions how much easier it is to be accurate with the rimfire due to lock times being 1/10th that of the air rifles... There are Pros and Cons to each, and they generally even out in the long run.

2026 rule change for NRL22 - air rifle .30 cal and below, 110 FPE maximum.
