Newbie needing your help regarding Compressor choices

I use and like a GX CS2. Mechanically it is the same, I think, as the CS3 but it does not have auto shutoff. I would not trust it if the compressor had it so that is not a big deal to me. The CS2 is cheaper (I got my first one for $250 delivered from the GX website using their 10% off code) and more compact. Both the CS2 and CS3 come equipped to run off your car or 120V (using a power supply). I added a little setup to use my 18V Milwaukee batteries for a third power option. The parts to do this were only about $20 on Amazon. You need a battery dock and a 18V to 12V step down converter. I run the CS2 in my kitchen usually and I can watch TV in the next room while it is running. I have to turn the sound up a bit but I can hear the TV.

A CS2 or 3 should pump up a little Bandit in a minute or two.

N/A  Skout Evo vs Daystate Red Wolf

Then I was scuba driving back in the day I bought dive computers and steel tanks that were high-pressure and smaller and would hold more air. I paid more money for the equipment, My friend all made fun of me, years have gone by and now my friends have the same equipment that I had years ago. My scuba tanks are 35 years old and still in service.
I have just got in to air rifles about 5 years ago my first pcp was a Benjamin Bulldog 357 I have move up to the Daystate rifles I like the Red Wolf, to get it to do what i what’d I put a Helliboard in it, for me that was the easiest way to program it.
I now own a Black Wolf and it has made things easier to tune, some of my daystate are 7 to 8 years old and had to be serviced, 7 years is not bad for an air gun to make it, I think it will last another 7 years I hope
Wow, blast from the past! Thanks for your reply. I decided on a Blackwolf and besides the initial sticker shock, I've been very happy with my decision. Hopefully it remains "one and done", though my eye does still wander a little...

PCP Rifle  SOLD DNT ZULUS DH V2 ZHD. 3x12. RV2 LRF***SOLD****

This is a new Zulus HD V2 3x12 LRF. Obviously box is open. I purchased a few of these with the intention of putting this on one of my other guns.
I since sold that gun so I no longer need this optic. I did install a battery and everything works as it should. I will provide proof of purchase for any warranty purposes.
$675. Shipped. Payment can be made PayPal friends and family Venmo, or Zelle.
I do have a 5x20 and a 3x12 on guns now. I have to say I was pretty impressed with the image quality, especially at night. I did test the LRF out to 100 yards and it was spot on with the ballistics I entered. ****SOLD****

N/A  Skout Evo vs Daystate Red Wolf

I'm still trying to decide on a "big purchase" new gun. I'm shopping .22 caliber and I want a versatile gun that is precise up to 100 yards.

I like the Evo a lot on paper, as I do most of my shooting at a range with benches. But I'm not sure I want to completely give up the idea of other types of offhand shooting due to its weight. I do like buying from an American company, especially if the USA starts trade wars with Europe. I like how Skout builds their guns for ease of service and repair.

And now the Red Wolf. I've actually held one (unlike the Evo) and it's very comfortable in the hand. I hear it's very accurate as well. I like how it adjusts automatically to changing bottle pressure. I don't know if the Evo does this. What I'm not crazy about is being stuck with one caliber on something this expensive. The accessories are also pricey - I like spare magazines.

I'd love to get some buying advice from those who have owned one or both of these. Thanks!

new guy to airguns

Stopped by the LGS and bought a higher set of rings. Mounted the scope and now have plenty of clearance. Range time. 3,000 PSI in the rifle, 50 yards to the targets from the bench. Sighted in the scope. Love that "pft" as I pull the trigger and "plonk" as the pellet hits the target. 50 pellets shot, still good air pressure with out any adjustment. Magazine failed, it wouldn't turn any more to place the next pellet in line for the firing pin, presume the spring died. Helllo Amazon! Ordered two more mags. All in all quite pleased with thee entire PCP experience.

Other  Threaded barrel options?

You also mentioned gas. This is the Diana Chaser pistol/rifle. C02 - 22 or 177. Already has a moderator. Basically silent. Very accurate. The 22 caliber I have shoots 14.3 CPHP’s at 560fps. 177 probably in the 650+ range. 35-40 good shots on a single C02 cartridge. Also makes into a pistol. Very light weight. Around $129 new.

N/A  First PCP - need advice (Notos vs Stoeger Scout)

I'm sure the Notos has a role, I think of it as a modernized Prod. I may buy them for my grandkids when they get a little older. But I don't think it, or my Prod, is a great all around airgun. You mention you have a compressor. I think both the Notos and Prod are great for hand pumping because they store so little air. The Prod has enough power for hunting small game with a retune and the Notos reportedly has low 20s fpe right out of the box. That is enough if the biggest thing you want to kill is a rabbit.

The Scout, even in 22, should get you about 10 more fpe including the ability to get heavier for caliber pellets up over 800 fps. My P35-22 is tuned to a little over 30 fpe and has killed a small raccoon for me, for instance. It will also give you at least twice as many shots per fill, even at the 50% higher fpe.

In terms of noise, I have a Bullshark and a P35X which both have the same sort of baffle arrangement as the Scout, I believe. I think they are pretty quiet. But they also have the adapter for a 1/2 UNF moderator to be added if you disagree. I believe the Notos moderator has to be destroyed to be removed from the gun. The good news is the Notos comes with a moderator, the bad news is the upgrade path is a bit difficult.

Are the AEA Precision Center puch pellets that good?

I am ready to order some pellets, the AEA pellets cost more that the other pellets, just curious if users think they are worth the higher price.
I went through 2000 rounds and was very pleased, until I wasn't. I got a tin that shot all over the place. I got some JTS dead center's and they are just (if not more) as accurate as the AEA's were. For now I am sticking with the dead centers.

Sig Sauer  New to this just wanna be safe

I got my new pcp gun today it’s an sig sauer virtus. I spent the extra money and got an air compressor. My question is,,say I’m down to about a quarter tank and I want to go ahead and refill it. Can I unscrew it from the gun with a quarter tank of air left in it or do I have to somehow bleed all the air out first and then unscrew it to fill it up or can I fill it up while it’s still attached to the gun.?? I know that there’s warnings saying that it’s a very high amount of pressure and I just don’t want it exploding on me or something. Sorry if this seems like stupid question like I said this is my first one.

Welcome to Airgun Nation. Congratulations on your new PCP rifle. Beware, the rabbit hole is deep. HPA is a tool and you have to respect it.

YouTube is your friend. Here is a good video on your rifle to get started. Rick puts a lot of work into his videos.

I would youtube your compressor as well and watch whatever you can find.

Have fun!

RAW Rapid  Need Help - RAW Micro HM1000 - Acts like not regulated

Only 2 places within a RAW regulator where set point drift can come from ...
The screw in brass seat / bottle valve depressor disk. It being loose or a bad o-ring under it reg goes into bypass.
The soft seat portion that is pressed into the end of inner spool not sealing .. again bypass and set point drift.
Thank you Scott, appreciate your time.

Hornets nest

I have a European hornets nest on my field target course. I got stung so it’s war.
The nest is at about five feet above the ground. I can reach it all without a ladder. It is attached to a number of branches I can cut with clippers. And dump the nest into a trash bag.

My plan is to put on a full leather motorcycle racing suit. Full face helmet gloves and boots. Thick wet towel around my neck. Nothing exposed. I will dump a full can of wasp spray on the nest starting at the hole. So I block them in . Then cover the nest and go in and cut it out.

Anyone ever try this?
Am I gonna die?
What is wrong with my plan beside is changing after I get punched in the face.
How about a torch that is used to burn weeds?

RAW Rapid  Need Help - RAW Micro HM1000 - Acts like not regulated

I will say right up front I have not examined a RAW regulator. You are already getting help from much more knowledgable people.

But for the gun to be effectively unregulated it should exhibit a bell shaped curve with velocity at high pressure lower, then it rises as pressure decreases, and then falls again at low pressure. I think that is what the data is about. Confirm the diagnosis. Unregulated guns can be tuned differently than this but this is what my guns have done when the regulator failed. They are SPA and Huma regulated.

It was not exactly unregulated behavior but the regulator in two of my SPA guns was acting very oddly recently with low velocity initially rising as the pressure came down. Perhaps I did not go low enough in pressure to see the fall and it was unregulated behavior. I fixed one of them by lubricating the O-rings of the stem the bellville washers are on and the cylinder they slide on. I haven't tested the other, it may be fixed too. I saw debris in them and cleaned it out throughly but only lightly lubed the O-rings and didn't lubricate the cylinder at all. This was after I had a failure of a Huma in my Caiman X that seemed to be caused by a gross excess amount of silicone grease in this area. Later that same regulator failed because it didn't have any detectable grease on the O-ring sealing the adjustment stem at the top.

Long way of saying my experience is that especially the area of the washers is particularly sensitive to having the right amount of lubrication. The stem the washers are on is effectively a piston and has to move pretty freely up and down. Up to seal the gun, down to readmit air after you fire. It only moves 1mm or less but it has to move for the regulator to work. If it sticks the regulator won't work.

Airforce  Airforce CondorSS .22; your choice for the most accurate standard pellet

One thing about upgrading AirForce guns

My first AirForce gun was a TalonSS i got for $100. Fixed the tophat and gun worked fine. I was already using Huben Power regulators so i ordered the MAX-ATH. Then I found Trajectron.com and all the upgrades, hammer, spring, tophat. Then I bought a 19" barrel.

I spent close to $700 to turn that $100 gun into a gun worth at least $350.

Still testing .177 slugs....slow motion rabbit vital shot 25 yards

Fragile little cotton tail rabbits !!!
swear you could dang near shoot em in the ear and dispatch them !!!
natures food for all predators they are indeed !
Taking for food ... Neck or head shots :giggle:

Nice shot and DRT !!!
I don't know why I'm testing for expansion on rabbits, not really needed. I could use pellets and they'd do just fine. Like you said, don't take much to drop them. Only reason shooting slugs is to reach out 80+ yards

Hornets nest

Ball facred hornets are definitely evil bastards. I still have work to do killing this nest. It is full of rubber mulch, so I have been putting off death with FIRE. Lol,4 cans in and those turds are still flying around. They kicked my ass once already, damn terrorist still have my hat held capture as well. 🤦‍♂️

Yea, they are mean suckers. I was trail running one time and felt something whack my leg and was 100% certain I had just been struck by a venomous snake. Nope, it was a mean hornet that was flying by and popped me for no good reason. Since that day, I have made it my call from heaven to eradicate every hornet or yellow jacket nest I encounter.
Let them settle down at night and then get two cans of foaming spray, double fist them and lay down the pain train!
