Crosman  1968 Crosman 760 PowerMaster

Just picked up this Crosman 760 ”Power Master”. It has a April 1968 date. I shot my cousins every summer back in the late 60’s. My wife also said she had the same gun when she was a girl as soon as she saw it. It shoots strong at over 500 fps with eight pumps. I bought it as non working but I guess the guy didn’t know how it operated because it works perfectly. Cleaned right up. All original. Hardly used in nearly 60 years. Love the “tootsie roll” cocking forearm. It is fun to have an American made pump bb rifle to shoot. Brings back very good memories. Anyone else have one? View attachment 547438
Looks amazing. Over the last few days I have been trying to soak up as much information as possible on the 760. I grew up shooting what seemed to be millions of BB's through ours. I would strap it to the handlebars of my bike and head out to creeks, ponds and no telling where else. As I got older I moved on to bigger guns but would always come across the old 760 in my father's work shop. I would pull it out and plink off a few rounds and put it away. My father passed away in 2017 and while we were cleaning out his house I came across the 760 and it brought me to tears as it was one of the few true connections I had with my father. It was such a hectic time thatI just put it away in my gun safe and haven't hough about it till this week.

I pulled it out and was saddened to see the condition it is in. It will not pump, will not cock, it has rust spots on the barrel and the black finish it worn, pitted and scratched. Luckily the wood stock and pump handle are in pretty good shape. I found the number 127 which I assumed is Dec 70?

I would love to refinish the wood furniture myself. Was curious what the best way to refinish the metal body would be as well as the barrel? I haven't taken it down yet but given the issues I mentioned before all the internals should probably just be replaced.

Don't mean to hijack your thread but seemed like the most recent on the 760 subject. I will get some pics and some other questions for another thread. Thanks in advance guys.

30 yard benchrest against myself at 13

Spring is fading in and out and after watching my Moto Gp racing had a little time ( yeah like I’m busy) printed some 30 yard targets on here and had a match.
Four guns , same rest, 13 yard cellar
FX DRS 22 700 mm. JTS 25.39 Element Nexus 5-20
Zelos 22 JTS 25.39 Athlon Heras 6-24
RAW HM 1000x lrt JTS 25.39 Athlon Ares 15-60
Daystate Revere 177 JTS 8.7 Vector Veyron 6-24

any bets on the finishing order ?
It would be my wish to actually compete casually with a human , but there’s barely 22lr comps here.

Legality of Florida iguana hunting

Thanks for the story. My family are big Disney fans and often talks about going to Disney World. If I go all the way to Florida I’d have to set a side a little time to book and Iguana hunt. Not sure I could convince myself to eat one though😁.

I'm w/you, Shoot yes ,eat ,I don't think so! I'm not a spicy food eater to begin with ,and it looks like most chefs spice the heck out those lizards when cooking.

What did you order / receive airgun related today? Thread

Ordered rifle case from Pelican website, it says delivery on 4/12, the day came and went with no delivery. Then Fedex updated to 4/14, which is today. Well...the package is still over 2 hours away at another city with no updates to delivery date. I should've ordered from Amazon, they have thus far under promise and over deliver. Fedex is so unreliable...done venting.

What springer did you shoot today?

I’ve only shot the 75 a few times. Compared to the HW45 or Beeman P1 it’s dream. I’m not at all familiar with a IZH. But would like to. Crow forgot to send
I agree, the HW75 is much better to shoot than the 45. I like the way it fits my hand, but the ergonomics of cocking to me are still tiring. The IZH looks weird but is much easier to cock and the trigger is much better. Mine has the optional trigger that can be adjusted up/down on the trigger shaft and pivoted to fit your finger better. I think the pull weight on mine is about 3 oz, so light even my Wheeler electronic gauge has trouble measuring it.
I have been trying to find one of the FWB 100 series SSP pistols but have not been having any luck

Pesting from a blind

The latest regs for turkey still say shotgun muzzleloading shotgun or bow or crossbow. Might be worth checking with the DNR, maybe a local game warden. WI DNR is known for being a bit… zealous… with anyone who doesn’t follow their rules, as I am sure you know.

Is Stoeger's new PCP compressor a hidden gem?

I was going to post the same thing. From some very convincing reports I have seen from several sources, the Omega Trail Chargers are also made in the same factory as the GX CS4. They have a few upgraded parts/materials but mostly the same unit. Considering what is on the market as I type this, and how few options we had just a few years ago; you cant really do better than a GX CS3 as an entry compressor. When I started into pcps $1500 was the only real budget option, and everything else needed lots of work in upgrades or was several grand. I have a CS3, and while I do consider it a throw away unit; I can fix and rebuild it a few times before that point.

As for moisture, all compressors will condense water vapor in the air. If you live in a humid climate you should invest in a pre-filter setup no matter what brand you chose.
I stick with gx. My 2 year old cs2 is still going strong

N/A  EVOL vs Epic two

Hi I also want to add this , Epic service is by far very good , the guy here who has a few epics , when he needs a part , the messeges factory and they send him seals ofr parts like next day , also if he asks a question , the owner of company answer's him same day , this is is a great company who cares about us , If you try to contact evol I tried with toms cell , he first lists no number and if you email , like many here did no answers , this is not good when you lay out $3k and u on your own

Umarex  Lost Zelos O ring battle

troubles started with this eBay plenum. Couldn’t get one of the three joints to seal. Then took bottle off. That hasn’t held full air since.
So tube back on and got the plenum to hold air. It’s actually the Huben leaking. Have had a dozen 7x1.5 and tried lots more. These are amzon
oring kits . It’ll be nice to play with the other guns. View attachment 555532
That stinks. Stil it looks good with the tube.
Huben , I’m surprised

GX CS4 Compressor - Initial Impressions

The inside inlet filter (blue and white) is removed and replace with a Western Enterprise AW-15A 1/4 inch NPT male to 9/16 rh inert female then just use the hose and fittings from your mig /tig hose to regulator and the adaptor aw15a. then I twisted one of the slats for air in the back to fit hose through.

Thank you for that information.

Adding an edit for one more question. How long have you been using nitrogen to feed your compressor?
My reason for asking is when I was trying to find the fitting thread size I emailed GX support. The answer they gave me was do not do the mod as the compressor could not take any pressure on the inlet side. I am guessing they thought I was going to release the full charge of a nitrogen cylinder into the compressor instead of a regulated 10~15psi I plan on using. Or less psi if I get a good flow rate at less psi.
