RAW Rapid  Raw HM1000X: Damned moderator

Hi everyone,
Not long ago, I got a RAW HM1000x in .22 caliber with the integrated moderator (unfortunately), not the offset version. The issue I'm having is that it's pretty loud, since the built-in moderator is basically useless—and there's not much information online.

I know DonnyFL sells an adapter, but I don’t want to add more weight to the barrel by attaching a big moderator like the Ronin along with the adapter. After contacting RAW USA, they told me I could remove the integrated moderator and use a longer carbon fiber shroud with a threaded 1/2 UNF end cap they sell.

So here are my questions, especially since it’s impossible for me to send the rifle from Spain to the US:

1. Is it difficult to remove the integrated moderator? I believe it’s secured with some epoxy and set screws. Will it come off with heat?

2. After removing the moderator, I also need to take off the original carbon fiber shroud. My question is the same—can it be removed easily? Are there simple methods to take it off? Can heat be safely applied to the carbon shroud if that’s the only way?

3. Given all these complications, I considered buying a new barrel for the RAW HM1000X. RAW USA told me they can’t ship barrels to Spain, and I haven’t been able to find RAW barrels anywhere. They don’t seem to be sold in stores. Can anyone tell me where to find a RAW or at least a compatible barrel?

Any help is much appreciated. It’s surprising how little information is out there for such an extraordinary air rifle.

What did you do airgun related today.

Have had my Two sitting on living room table for a couple of days with pressurized fill line, not a single bar dropped anywhere in rifle or fill line.
So i have taken that off and is now charging the REG gauge, which also read the very same bar number i left it with 2 days ago.

I have also started to fill my car with stuff for the range, but so far just the inexpensive 4 rattle cans for the steel targets.
Ammo box already topped up, and spare batteries for chrono charged.

Getting amped up for going to get the new compressor tomorrow, i hope it can all fit in my little car, CUZ i will be bringing a full load out when i go to the dive shop to get the compressor, so also rifle case - overnight bag and the 9L CF bottle in its bag.
But at least sans transport pallet and " casing " the compressor should be able to fit in my small trunk without having to lay down the rear seat.

Not like Saturday and Sunday will be good shooting weather, not even half good, but i have withdrawal symptoms so lead have to fly one way or another.
But really the next week no good weather in regard to wind, so i will probably just have to work / dismantle my Tuxing compressor looking for a reason to its sudden pressure drop.

Also amped about the new regulator in the Two, though with weather in mind i will probably have to make do with hearing the chrono repeat the same number over and over.
The tin of 10.4 gr pellets i bring, not sure if that will be fun even if short range, but if it is bad i have slugs to sling too. ( in total 1550 shots if it get intense )

Lightest ffp scope offering with a budget

I’ve been busting on my vet 2 this whole time for being heavy, but after removing the scope (which came already in it), it’s much much lighter. Got me thinking. I’d definitely keep it if I could find a replacement that was lighter, but I’m not spending the same on the scope as I spend on the rifle. What’s out there for budget lightweight scopes that are ffp?

Thanks in advance.

Light vs heavy slug expansion

Thanks! I’m working with .25, that would be 34 grainers, sadly defeating the purpose… I’ll keep my eyes on them though, thanks! honestly, price is a non- issue as I’m not using them for plinking, I might shoot about 50/60in a good year, a 100 for testing and getting in the groove. plinking is for king heavies in this rifle or even more preffered, my .20 with a low power tune.
He doesn't have them listed but the makes 32.8gr and 30gr in .25

Light vs heavy slug expansion

Varmint Knocker is on ebay, try his XLHP.

Jsb 20.83gr slugs they are very similar to the VK.

Griffin has some LDC slugs very light weight, kinda pricey.

INTRODUCING THE NEW FX LEOPARD

Well it seem people still manage to hit things with this straw barrel.
I will say i do not understand why these / any FX do not come from the factory with the carbon fiber liner installed around the straw, the O-rings work but really. :cautious:
The 700 mm lower rail should be 2 MlOC holes longer and so terminate just about where it do on the 600 mm version

PS: i would trade my old Maverick in for one of these in a heartbeat, but sadly no rewards for loyal customers at FX.

PSS: I have 2 FX and have owned 2 other brand but only have 1 other brand ATM, absolutely not a fanboy, but the Maverick once sorted of its childhood problems given me much fun.

Filter to separate rubber mulch from pellets

Alan, your salvage pellets look very clean. I will give your vacumn idea a try. I have a Ryobi battery powered shop vac that is pretty weak. Seems like it might be the right tool for the task. Water works but is kind of messy. Either way, it saves me a lot of effort to get all the big pieces back in the trap quickly leaving only a much smaller volume of pellets and trash.

I may sell or give the lead to a recycler eventually but I melt it down into bars using the side burner of my bbq grill on the back porch and an old pot I ruined years ago. I have a Lee ingot mold. I fish too, however, and keep thinking I should get a mold for fishing weights. So for now I am hanging onto it. I did melt some down for a block of lead for the front of my P35s (I've made two) to allow them to better fit into my "Rock BR" bench rest and to help stabilize the guns from the weight. I made a crude mold from scraps of steel and aluminum I had on hand. I also might use some to make an anchor for my smaller boat.

FX  FX Leopard

Yeah that's my thought too. However I just looked at then and pricing wise the 500mm isn't even adjusted for not having the rail. Seems kinda shady to do that.
Spot on with my thoughts as well. Measly $50 less than the 600mm. Looks weird without a hand guard/rail. Then if you find one that fits might as well figure another $150+. Pretty Lame. Bet these guns are going to preformers though 💪

Ambidextrous shooters?

As an
My initial thought was maybe you were losing focus from closing your other eye and causing strain but it appears you are trying to keep both eyes open. I think it still might be worth while to pick up a clip on eye blinder for your glasses to keep you from subconciously squinting or having focus drift to the other eye unintentionally. Especially if you are bouncing back and forth between right and left it will be hard to build up muscle memory or ... psychological memory of which eye to be dominate.
I'll second the eyepatch/cover...easy to do and it will accelerate your progress. You're just retraining your eye.

As a side note, this is also good stuff for your brain. Learning and training your body to do something different.

Karma  Karma EQ and SLS: Full Iguana Hunting Review

An excellent video and an Impressive display of the Karma's accuracy and hitting power. The Karma Airguns were exceeding the FPE of a .22 short cartridge. I was looking at a new Daystate Blackwolf or a used Daystate Redwolf Hi-Power but the Karma air rifles have me rethinking and have my full attention.
