Results for Monsoon Windy 60 ( Rochester Brooks)

Unfortunately the weather forecast was all over the board for Saturdays match, but 13 brave souls came out to participate. Got to the range at 7am, held off on setting up the practice range because it started raining by 7:30. People started rolling in around 8 onwards as it continued to rain till 9:45. Set up the practice range for a quick sight in, started the match at 10:15, mind you the winds were a constant 20 mph gusting to 30. Unfortunately we had continuous storms coming in from the southwest all morning. We shot till 12 rain free till a cold line and the next round of horizontal rain came in, people ran to their cars and the storage shed till 12:30 to finish the last 1 or 2 lanes. The one good thing was it was 65 to 70 degrees all day, so at least it was warm. I want to give a special shout out to Ted Andro who drove in from Ohio, under less than ideal conditions.

Beeman  Talk about pellet fussy.

The JSB's are all over the place in size, I have the 4.52 and 4.53 exacts but they just don't perform as of late.
I have noticed a decline in accuracy on the JSB around the time they went to screw top tins. I try to buy the FX and AA rebrands as they seem to be more consistently sized. Contrary to popular belief it's not because AA or FX owns special dies. Its because they make the rebrands in big lots from a single JSB die. Where as the JSB brand will have pellets from multiple dies. Thus less consistent.

The single die AA and FX are great as long as your gun likes that size. If not you're SOL. Seldom happens though as these tend to sized better than most other JSBs that often run small.

H&Ns FTTs always fit snug to annoyingly tight. I think whoever does their sizing is on crack. 4.51s almost always fit tighter than 4.52. That's been the case for the last 20+ tins of them. At least they're consistent 🤣

Moderator clipping question

"It's interesting how a tune on the same exact rifle in someone else's hands can produce drastically different results" Airgun VOODOO! I used to get frustrated with the idiosyncrasies of our equipment but now it fascinates me. It's NOT like dealing with the simplicity of powder burners but it's just ONE of the things that makes airguns so interesting (to me).

Beeman  Talk about pellet fussy.

Thanks I'm not shooting rested. I don't have any luck shooting springers rested. I hold them. I lean my left wrist on the sandbaged ammo box in the photo. I tried six ways from Sunday holding this gun differently in the past and didn't do any better. Somedays its just me having a bad day. I check that with by shooting a known good gun. If I mess up that one, I don't take any of the days results seriously.

Yeah, calibrating the shooter is an important step. That's the first thing I suspect when groups are poor. LOL! Maybe have someone else try the rifle?

Figured that you had the rest problem covered, but mentioned it just in case. That makes (springer) sense 🙂

Having one pellet that shot well kinda eliminates the other pellets as "not suitable". I'd focus on that pellet to see if the good groups continue. If yes, then I'd just go with that pellet.

What about the scope? All good? Maybe the internal scope tube is "floating" or there's some other mechanical issues.

Cheers!

Problem solved.
When you're stupid, that's how it is. I'm sincerely sorry, but this is my first FX, but despite that, I'm stupid because I was looking at the position of the pw at the top and not at the bottom...
Thank you a thousand times for your help, and in the future I'll try to be more attentive.
Dang…lol. It happens. Just like to add that 125-130 bar is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much for hades.

Ahhhhhhhm, THAT will do it to you every time and no, not stupid just inexperienced.* Personally, I'd still add some lube to the hammer and trigger, you can add the lube from the outside after removing the spring, just a few drops around it, it'll work in.

* I f'd my new Tequila gun by trying to open the cocking lever the wrong way direction, we all have made mistakes.

Other  PP700 optics set up?

Anybody know of a long eye relief pistol scope (18 inch eye relief ) that would focus down to 50 feet (about 15 yards ) something like the Bug buster but with long eye relief . i have a bug buster but the cheek weld is Resting my cheek on the Hammer !
Thanks
Just had the same requirements and couldn't find a ready made solution!

I went with this, even though it's fixed parallax. https://bsaoptics.com/product/edge/

Using the correct tools for the job, https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B2LRWXX...0?ie=UTF8&psc=1&pd_rd_plhdr=t&aref=FVo0OMltd0 I refocused the objective to 15 yards. That limits its usefulness at other ranges, but got me to a sharp 15 yard focus. Great image quality at 7x, especially for $70...20250420_115852.jpg

Self Employed Air Rifle Technician Required

Interesting, don’t see many help wanted posts here on the forum. Looked up Stonham Aspal, appears to be a very nice small town surrounded by green agricultural lands. Just curious what your typical customers are - landowners that use airguns for pesting or possibly field target competitors?
A mix of customers, pesties, farmers, people shooting squirrels in the garden, and a lot of restoration work.

Hunting safety in populated areas

Many times I've cringed when watching some " Iggie" videos of the shots taken. I realize that my view is different than actual though. I have gone almost exclusively to air for my pesting on the farm(s) because of my location and slugs are only used in field shots for G-hogs. I have done real time penetration tests
on scrap metal siding/roofing with my rigs & ammo at my practical ranges to negate any possible damage to structures at my permission . I volunteered this info to my host , not that he needed reassuring , I just felt it would open other doors farther down the road. I take no roof shots w/ my more powerful guns except roof peaks or corner of gutters and no shots over 40 yrd.s around buildings. This is just my personal take of course.

Budget Gun Battle!

Have
The Zelos with it's adjustable regulator likes whatever you tune it to I was shooting Apolo 28 grain HP slugs with reg set at 2,700 , and hammer turned 4 in . I got a Chronograph now , so soon as I get my Zelos back together I will see how fast there going ?
Have read that our Zelos are over-sprung and that adjustments with the stock hammer spring are not very effective. On the FB Umarex Zelos Owners Group, a guy name of Dave Goldfarb is reworking his .25 with lighter springs and a new valve. It is showing promise as to making the Zelos Hammer Spring much more responsive to adjustment and reducing valve noise/ping when firing.

Here's the link to the Group - https://www.facebook.com/groups/umarexzelosownersgroup/
