N/A  Gimme a Brake

Made a brake for the HW30 I’m putting together. Turned it on the lathe and set it up on the mill with a spin indexer to drill 20 holes in it. Looks cool. I guess. Gave it a simulated target crown.
I think I need a black pistol grip cap? I decided on a recoil pad. Brown and black 1/2” thick. No white spacers on this.View attachment 557138View attachment 557137

Very nice!!…I think a grip cap always looks great…and I prefer the clean look of no white line spacers. Thanks for sharing…I really enjoy seeing how others do it. John
PS I’ve always called my spinner a hurdygurdy…because that’s what the guy who gave it to me called it.

Let's talk timers!

If you think enduring three-man squads is a pain, you should try figuring out how to minimize their effect (as a match director). That can be(come) quite a puzzle, in itself.:rolleyes::mad:

I don't like puzzles.🤬

.
hahahaha yeah for sure... put a big gap between em and the others. ...and squad three fast shooters. lol, and put two slow shooters in the squad preceding them. :ROFLMAO:

Arizona State "Spring Fling in the Desert" Piston Championship - April 18 & 19, 2025

You just never know what the big guy has in store for us Mark, so I will just say.....maybe:D(y)
Thx
Dan
Sounds good to me. Heck, I plan on shooting a FT match when I turn 100. that is, if I can still cock a springer. If not, off to the dark side and drag out one of my PCP's.

What pistol did you shoot today

They made so many versions…these two were my favorites…they were a excellent gun but like most german guns they made …they had close tolerances so a little dirt and you were shooting blanks…and are sloppy 1911‘s knocked the down like bowling pins

Agreed! The Germans made some beautiful gear but it was a bit too sensitive to dirt, sand, grime, etc. And expensive to make.
Ahh, but so much fun to shoot 🙂
I must admit that while I slather mine in lube for general plinking, I will wipe it down to minimum lube if I take it out into the woods. Ditto for most of my other guns

1. By new from Utah Air
2. Have UA:
a. Add a top rail that protects the barrel assembly.
b. Add a bottom rail that allows you to set a bipod correctly.
c. Add a Saber Tactical butt
d. Add the scope they advise
e. Tune the rifle for the distance they advise.

UA are experts in building, tuning, and shooting Impacts. The average AGN poster can just barely be classified as an amateur.

Strictly off hand…

I have two I bought specifically for 10 meter competition, a 2078A and an Anschutz 2002. I started with the 2078A and did reasonably well but I learned very quickly that a jacket or suit, gloves and shoes are common among the more experienced shooters. So are dedicated competition guns. Most of them are age maybe 13 to 30 with a few old guys like me taking up some spaces. The Anschutz is easily the better competition gun, that’s what it was built to do. It’s also a bit heavy. The 2078A is more adaptable to other uses but is much less expensive. Because I do this for fun I don’t practice as much the younger and very dedicated competitors and it shows. I have several other rifles and they all shoot well but the two comp guns are more accurate and consistent as long as I am too. It’s funny but when I was competing with center fire rifles I worked hard. Usually did well too.

What pistol did you shoot today

Nope, haven’t seen any butt stocks for it but it appears to have the notches to accept one. Maybe one from a real P08 might fit?

Wish someone made the artillery or naval version of this. Then again, maybe I could get another one and make a longer barrel, and, and, …. 🤔

Valve rod/housing and plenum orings changed I think due to 15 warm up shots issue. Other than that I’m not aware of anything. Love mine (after a lot of tinkering and fiddling, fixing the slow shot issue). Best part to me is the trigger. Absolutely awesome. Don’t like tolerances/QC on some parts, like holes off center but threaded and screws into it anyway. Take apart 10 times and the threads will be gone… you’ll want CF liner sleeve. Reg creeping 4-5 bar over night, polished it up now no more creep. Great gun now, very accurate and consistent. Swapping liners is easy and cheap compared to a new barrel so you can get a new one relatively cheap if you draw a blank in the lottery. Also indexing easy, can’t do that with a lot of barrels.

Strictly off hand…

The real key to shooting well offhand, is to do it a lot. Nobody is a great offhand shooter at first. Get some guidance on form, technique, and practice. Did I mention practice?..When I shot competitively, daily practice, and some days more. It’s definitely a perishable skill..best of luck in your endeavor. John
PS the 300 is a fine choice.

When you lower the regular to 130 bar, how many shots are you getting from 250 bar fill to 200 bar fill? I noticed when the regulator is set at 145 bar stock from AOA, my air full drops from 250 bar fill to 200 bar fill in only 11 shots ( one magazine)
I don’t know what caliber you are shooting but, let’s say you’re using a .22, so the 145 is probably too high.
I’d start at 120 on the reg and power wheel at min. Chrono and repeat at each power wheel setting and record results
if you aren’t seeing any changes with the power wheel setting, increase reg pressure 3-5 bar at a time and repeat.
generally the lower the reg setting is the more efficient the air usage
sometimes you can benefit from using a different spring:

Strictly off hand…

I don't know how long you've been shooting the FWB 300 and your RWS 45 and I haven't looked at your form/posture.

If I had to guess, you probably own both for less than 5 years?

you are probably fighting the weight of the 300 instead of using it to your advantage. The FWB 300 is designed for 10M (this is your go to gun for 10 M).

The other aspect is proper attire and accessories...shooting jacket and shooting glove (some say shooting boots...that's one step beyond me).

If you are serious about 10 m ...invest in a new or used shooting jacket and shooting glove.

Then there's breathing...trigger control ...cheek rest...bio feedback/heart rate control...learning to shoot with both eyes open...etc

or just enjoy as is. In general, I would shoot and keep the 300 if I had to sell my air rifles.

The advantages you gain from the 300= better off hand position, appreciation for a match trigger, confidence in you off hand shots.
Ive owned the 300 for around 5 years the 45 since the mid 80s. I’m talking informal. I shoot strictly for fun and I’m not going into to invest in a jacket , glove etc. I understand the difference between the rifles. I just want to know if the average for fun 10 meter shooter will gain much over a decent shooting sporter type rifle.

FX  Impact M4

I'm either looking to buy new or used. From launch date to now, were there any changes in the Impact M4 that I should be worried about? In example, early versions of the Umarex Notos, it did not have a degassing grub screw. New versions of the Notos now has the degassing grub screw.

Lastly, tell me why you either hate the M4 or love it. Looking for pros and cons. Main goal is to hunt small game with it. When small game isn't in season, plinking.

Umarex  NOTOS accuracy issues.

So it looks like cleaning the barrel was what I needed. I got the patchworm kit and ran a couple pre soaked patches through and then several dry patches. Dry fired it a few times to blow some air through and it started grouping like normal again. I had a tin of Crossman Premier pellets and they seemed to group a little better today so I dialed it in with those. One house sparrow made the mistake of landing on my martin house and never knew what hit him.

First time taking my BW to the range today to get it sighted. Small orange target is sighted at 25 yards. Top 2 splatter targets and the diamond paper target at the bottom left are 50 yard groups.

For the 25 yards sighters groups, I played with no moderator, Sumo Donnyfl, and Donnyfl Tatsu. Groups with Sumo is the best but did bring point of impact down just a tad. No moderator shot the second best.

Regulator is set at 145 bar from AOA shooting 960 FPS with hammer at MIN, using 25 grain monster redesigns. I didn't play with the hammer spring since that speed and pellet weight is where it wants to be. I am pretty happy with the performance.
What caliber?
