What pistol did you shoot today

Agreed! The Germans made some beautiful gear but it was a bit too sensitive to dirt, sand, grime, etc. And expensive to make.
Ahh, but so much fun to shoot 🙂
I must admit that while I slather mine in lube for general plinking, I will wipe it down to minimum lube if I take it out into the woods. Ditto for most of my other guns
My choice of weapons for the walk in the woods would be my slingshot with 38 cal steel ball bearings..most people would dismiss they as a weapon…they would be wrong…they can kill…I have hit soda cans @ 100 yards…most people couldn’t hit that can with a scoped rifle…lol…they all need to be rebranded…That will be my ..what did you shoot today story…I made this slingshot box for those late night shots.. try not to hit the plates …kinda wakes up the neighbors…lol

Major Leak After Regulator Adjustment on FX Impact M3 (.22)

So one should never remove all air from the gun? If a regulator needs to be reduced, is it better to just degas the chamber that it is regulating?

Also, are you saying that instead of locating the leak I should indiscriminately change every O-ring incase it is causing the leak?
I wouldn't say never, avoid it if you don't have to for the reasons vetmx said. There's a bleed screw on the action BTW and you can unscrew a guage slightly on any gun in a pinch. Look at reg 2 first because it's not a full disassembly. After you've done that, gas it up and see if it leaks. If it still leaks just do a full rebuild because you're already there, it's a mechanism. I put humas on my m3 after an oring and a piston failure on a reg.

I'm happy to try and help where I can in the thread too.

A friend sent his maverick to 190 bar because moar power and beers. We ended up rebuilding the whole gun chasing leaks later on.

The impact isn't that bad to rebuild if you like Legos, and the oring count is only overwhelming at first. Ernest Rowe videos can help walk you thru it.

Huben  Latest GK1 wunderpistol wonderment

View attachment 557294

FWIW, I've achieved 1 MOA average groups at 100 yards with less powerful air RIFLES than GK1s, with at least 16X rifle scopes. However hundred-yard pistol shooting is some magnitudes more difficult.

As powerful air pistols go, the GK1 is pretty danged small and light. Gven the shroud attachment isn't the most bulletproof arrangement, I wouldn't mount as large/heavy optics as a 16X rifle scope to it. Per the photo above, the little, lightweight 3-7X vintage rifle scope was the most magnification I feel comfortable mounting on my .22 GK. Even with the shoulder stock, that ain't a hundred-yard rig; bench-rest, or not. Too small, too light, too little magnification. Not sure the GK is capable of 1 MOA average at 100 even if it had enough scope (magnification).

My GK1 ia .22, the buddy I bought it from subsequently got a .25, subsequently sold it, and last I heard preferred the .22. I haven't shot a .25 GK, nor want for one simply due to ammo and air expense.

With powerful air rifles and optimum pellets for hundred-yard shooting, I consider .22 and .25 accuracy equals. I'd think the same true with GKs. In my opinion a GK in either caliber is not a hundred-yard small-bird hunting rig.

.
Thanks for your very helpful comments. I've not considered the rigidity (or lack thereof) of the shroud. I was actually thinking of experimenting with a 21-oz scope that goes up to 12x. I've got to think about this. What I've heard of the GK1 is about 65 yards for hunting smallish birds, so it does seem that 100 yards is likely a pipe dream.

It is interesting that you both preferred a .22. If I heard correctly, .22 dominates in Europe due to the legal power limitations, and .25 dominates in the US. In the .25, one can do a full 17-shot mag with the JSB 25.39 at 880 fps within a narrow power band. I don't know how the .22 compares, but I don't think it can do 17 shots of the JSB 25.39 at 880 fps within anarrowrange. Perhaps the 20.83 or 18.1 grain in .22.

Can you kindly share one final bit of data. WIth your .22 for longer range accuracy, what pellets and fps? Thanks again for all the insights. Great forum with wonderful people!

FX  Impact M4

Better yet just add UA to your bank account, tell them to do what they want, and charge you whatever they want. The main thing is to avoid the mistake of learning what gun and accessories suit your needs and your intended purpose. Do not attempt this youself. This is no place for amateurs. If you cannot learn to shoot well, they can pull the trigger for you too. When the M5 comes out in 3 months you can always re-sell the m4 for 60% of what you paid if you pay the shipping.😄
Agreed on ua. If you aren't chasing competition pellet shooting control of variables or high power slugs, there's other sleeper fx models I might look at.

Tuning  .177 for Hunter FT or just a nice hunter

This was a fun build. Learned even more about the Kuzey after this one. Required a mod to the plenum of the Huma to seal. Moved the o'ring from the inside to the outside At the valve seal due to the slight difference from the Kral valve. Kuzey uses more of an AirArms design than the Evanix design of Kral. Added a front gauge to get both a tube pressure and reg pressure reading. Uses a double shroud for stiffness. Donnyfl suppressor adapter and all new internals plus a lighter hammer with debounce hammer spring. Polished the trigger and it really breaks clean. I really wish it had turned out this way for the original buyer but didn't know the plenum o'ring wasn't going to seal properly so I just refunded him and got it back to finish. Turned out better than I expected in the end. 10.34 JSB average 890's with about a 15fps spread over the full string. That's with the external hammerspring adjuster on the lowest setting and 100bar on the reg. It's even tighter ES in my testing when I sorted them by weight. Rifle is listed in the classifieds if you're looking for an HFT gun.

Strictly off hand…

Do you folks think the average person shooting informally, off hand at 10 meters can gain any advantage by shooting a dedicated 10 meter rifle? I own currently 3 air rifle rifles. I only own 2 that I consider higher end than the Daisy 880 I’m experimenting with, an RWS 45 that I’ve had since the 80s and an FWB 300s I’ve had for several years. Both of these rifles are very accurate with the 300S being extremely accurate. I would say for me on a good day I can shoot the RWS nearly as well off hand as I can the 300S. Probably over all in my hands the 300s edges out the RWS but not by much. I know I’m not a good enough shooter to take advantage of the superior rifle, especially dealing with the weight. I am just curious as to what you folks think.
I’m pretty sure my 2-3” groups sizes at 20y shrink by 1/8” when I use a match rifle.

Also I hang around some very (very!) experienced 10m shooters. Don’t buy the jacket or pants if you want to improve as a shooter. Only buy those if you want a quick boost in score and wish to slow developing your skills.

FX  Impact M4

I'm either looking to buy new or used. From launch date to now, were there any changes in the Impact M4 that I should be worried about? In example, early versions of the Umarex Notos, it did not have a degassing grub screw. New versions of the Notos now has the degassing grub screw.

Lastly, tell me why you either hate the M4 or love it. Looking for pros and cons. Main goal is to hunt small game with it. When small game isn't in season, plinking.
They fixed the top rail from the m3 and deleted a regulator (that's a personal preference thing) as the most noteworthy changes to me. If you change the top rail and put huma regs in an m3, you can use some other accessories depending on where you want to go with it and maybe save some cash.

I bought early on the m3 and they did a bunch of rolling updates that I had to buy, which came stock just months later. My advice is never buy an fx model that hasn't been out a year, unless you like to tinker and spend a lot of money.

Having lived with my impact a while, if I buy another it may be an mk2 or x that I can put some of my m3 parts on. I also wouldn't do 700mm again for my uses.

I might even try and talk you out of an impact (and I love mine) depending on your intended uses and performance wishes.

FX  Impact M4

Biggest downside for hunting are the slow first shots. I know people have come up with remedies and fx was working on it, however I’ve not read or heard anything definitive to indicate they have started putting anything different into new guns. Even if so I’m not sure how you would know the gun you buy was changed. For hunting and plinking I wouldn’t dive headfirst into the expensive saber upgrades. Get the gun use it stock and see what your personal needs are first. Expensive tuning 🤷‍♂️. They aren’t that hard to get good especially with pellets for the average shooter.

Strictly off hand…

I don't know how long you've been shooting the FWB 300 and your RWS 45 and I haven't looked at your form/posture.

If I had to guess, you probably own both for less than 5 years?

you are probably fighting the weight of the 300 instead of using it to your advantage. The FWB 300 is designed for 10M (this is your go to gun for 10 M).

The other aspect is proper attire and accessories...shooting jacket and shooting glove (some say shooting boots...that's one step beyond me).

If you are serious about 10 m ...invest in a new or used shooting jacket and shooting glove.

Then there's breathing...trigger control ...cheek rest...bio feedback/heart rate control...learning to shoot with both eyes open...etc

or just enjoy as is. In general, I would shoot and keep the 300 if I had to sell my air rifles.

The advantages you gain from the 300= better off hand position, appreciation for a match trigger, confidence in you off hand shots.
Will you give us some more details about attire for 10 mm shooting.

Karma  Karma EQ

I’m still waiting for mine. I would guess it won’t be here until the weekend but I’m happy to see you playing with yours. Please keep us up-to-date. Are you development? I figure again like that might need a good 200 to 250 shots to it is the brake loose the valve and settle down the springs and the hammer in the return valve

will gx cs4i fill a 9l scba tank

Aplogies for the segway, but I'm curious about why people prefer to fill a tank/bottle rather than to use a portable compressor at the range/shooting location.

I'm not arging against the decision to do that, just curious about the tank versus compressor solution.
I don't have to wait, or listen, or worry about electricity(I have one just in case) I can condition my air better on an scba fill than a fun fill because I'm not bleeding off 300cc of air that I waited to fill every time. I will tether to a giant bottle with my buddy and shoot all day, reloading is annoying, waiting for air is worse. Imho 😁. Search my posts about air bottles, the amount of air I store will blow your mind. No waiting ever.

N/A  Gimme a Brake

Made a brake for the HW30 I’m putting together. Turned it on the lathe and set it up on the mill with a spin indexer to drill 20 holes in it. Looks cool. I guess. Gave it a simulated target crown.
I think I need a black pistol grip cap? I decided on a recoil pad. Brown and black 1/2” thick. No white spacers on this.View attachment 557138View attachment 557137

FX  FX DRS Classic V2 - Wish List

I agree with all of the above. But it is important to hold the price point on this great rifle And it is really great just as it is. But another version I would like to see is one with an adjustable hammer spring like the last Wildcat. Or an adjustable power port like the streamline. I know most people wouldn’t use it but I like how I can quickly change from heavy to light ammo or change to low power for those times when high power is too much power, with just a turn of a dial On my streamline and Wildcat. That is why I’m not getting rid of either of those rifles. First FX needs to follow up with their promised accessories such as the carbon fiber barrel shroud and they need to change their outdated magazines which are hard to load compared to some of the aftermarket ones which I am using now. They bought out Rat Sniper for the Hybrid slugs they can buy out one of the magazine guys too And have a much better magazine. If they don’t come out with another plentum somewhere in the mid 40 to 50cc volume they aren’t listening to their customers. It’s not that it is needed but it is wanted.
I absolutely agree about the magazines. I have Steameone13 magazines for my Streamlines and DRS. Had them for my Dynamic. Much easier & quicker to load. The FX magazines look like the won an engineering contest, but belong in my drawer.

Strictly off hand…

Yes indeed, comfort and fit.I see people shooting with shoes with no support, you have to have support, you need to feel "locked in" Practice a lot. Also you need to learn from watching or studying how it is done. I bet there,I know there are "young people " that can beat all of us quite easy. Why is that? They have been taught right and practice a lot.

What did you order / receive airgun related today? Thread

Today I received a Yong Heng compressor that I ordered from EBay and tomorrow the compressor oil and a Tuxing air filter. I’ve been filling my 22 Disco from a scba tank that I was getting filled at the dive shop for the last few years, but I’m going through a lot more air since getting a Taipan Vet 2 in 25 caliber.
