Interesting challenge...

A friend posed the question ... "What airgun can I get to get rid of a couple of rock squirrels ?"
Now rock squirrels are notoriously tough and the dig like gophers on steroids and can destroy a lot of stuff by undermining, chewing it up, or eating it.
So having killed hundreds of these buggers over the years, I know what the challenges are. The problem is that she needs something easy to shoot, like a pcp, but I don't see her as accumulating and learning all the things involved in pcp ownership and shooting. So to me, traps or a CO2 rifle seem best as spring piston, pumpers, and pcp involve too much in peripherals and/or practice/knowledge to be practical plus there's the weight.
To that problem, I know my Sheridan F model could be pretty good with a red dot and there have been others like the Sharp UD2 that are simple to use and powerful but what is there CURRENTLY available? I went to the Crosman and Umarex sites because they HAVE had models in the past that might be practical , but current stuff is garbage ...
Any ideas for a simple to use, powerful enough (12ish ft lb) that doesn't require the learning time and weight of a springer or the support equipment of the pcp? The range is 30 yards and under and the cost isn't a huge concern, just ease of use, simplicity, enough accuracy, and weight...

Thanks Scott, actually a good bit more than 10,000 have sold since 2017.

Vevor water cooled, looks like a GX CS4 clone...

Looks like they added water cooling to standard 3 stage cylinder of square box compressors. Looks like 1/2 the volume of coolant of the cs4. Should work pretty well. The square box 3 stage were pretty good, so long as you didnt overheat or start under pressure.
I'll state up front that I don't have any of the compressors involved in this comparison, but I'm curious about you stating it is a three stage compressor . . . I only see air lines that would indicate it to be a two stage compressor, if I am looking at things properly.

Can you explain where the third stage of compression occurs? The two I see I illustrated below, but I don't see a third . . . just curious, as three stages of compression is massively better than just two for robustness, and most of the cheap compressors are only two stages . . .

Akela .22 Ranch Rat Rifle

I like that idea. I'll check it out. Thanks!

BTW I didn't explain, I went to the bullpup design because walking through the barn at night, it's not uncommon to look around a piece of equipment and be eyeball-to-eyeball with a rat. A powerful air pistol would be great for the walking shots light that in tight spaces, but we didn't want to buy yet another air gun. So we went with the compact bullpup design. It's worked well for both the aimed long shots, and those fast walk-ups.

What's the advantage of shortening the hammer spring? A lighter trigger? I've been impressed with the trigger already on there and haven't thought of making a change. Is that it ... to get a lighter trigger?

The hammer spring controls the amount of energy that hits the valve. The bigger the hit, the more air. Tuning an airgun can involve lighter springs so less air is released so the rifle is more efficient with air.

Rick at Airgun Revisions can probably help you out.

FX  Fx dream line valve seat won’t seal

Still not sealed the valve seat it was stuck solid when I removed the old one the new one is easy to fit in and take out should it be harder to take out if fitted properly should I need to give the seat a light tap in with a punch for it to seal properly or should picking down on it with the valve stem be enough for it to fit snug
Not sure about tapping on it. Did you try to fill off a tank or compressor? New valve and seat may require a quick blast of hp air from a tank initially to seat.

Other  Gentle Shot Cycle

For me a Walther LG400 fits that description. Every aspect of that rifle is just so “smooth”. She is only putting out about 6 fpe but that is enough for some fun ten meter target work or you can slap on a scope and quietly knock down little silhouettes out to 45 plus yards. She just sips the air and it feels like I never have to re-fill that tank.

Thats just two females scissoring. Im looking for this adapter, but with a male foster fitting.
If your compressor doesn’t have a male foster connection then use this adapter as well.

Recs for someone to restore old Daisy 880 Ted Williams rifle?

Nice rifle!

Another vote for Baker Airguns.

Other  Break Barrel VS. Underlever

I think the average better accuracy of underlevers comes from the TX200 and HW97 having more weight and modest power output. As long as there is no lockup issues with a breakbarrel, it should be just as accurate, but less weight means more recoil. I only had one RWS48, but even after a tune, it was never as accurate as the 97 or 200. I attribute that to the jumpiness of the gun at near 20 ft lbs tune. Similar deal with the Sig ASP20, it was fine shooting off a rest, but hold sensitivity made elevated shots difficult.

Diana  Please suggest a scope for Diana Bandit

How do you sight in your scope ? what are the steps you took ? I use a very easy sight in process .

Shot a tight group. Used whatever calculation (don't remember) clicks per inch vertically and then horizontally to try to get it to the center per manual

But no matter how much I dialed the adjustment wheels I kept hitting the exact same spot over and over. I went like complete max (should've been a foot away) and still hit the same spot.

Then I dialed it in in the opposite direction to the max just to see if it did anything. Still hit the same spot.

One of the dial metal lid fell of randomly so I wonder if it was damaged or returned or something.

Other  Light Weight Slugs

You’re right to think there could be issues beyond accuracy. Very light slugs in a big bore can sometimes cause the valve to open and close more abruptly, which might lead to extra wear or even damage over time, especially if the rifle is tuned for heavier projectiles. They can also result in higher velocities that push the pellet or slug past the optimal stability range, hurting consistency. It’s not guaranteed to cause damage, but if your setup is tuned for heavier slugs, it’s worth keeping that in mind before running a lot of super light ones through it.
