Akela .22 Ranch Rat Rifle

Thanks for the heads up on what the spring replacement does, I was thinking of it like a hammer/trigger spring and lightening the pull. Trigger on this Akela is actually quite nice. As for power, I run it at max. I get thru-n-thru shots on the rats most times, but the pellet has little energy coming out the other side. So not worried about equipment. And as I mentioned we wear eye pro in the barn when we do this.

Oh for any thermal scope guys out there, the answer to the question "is the recoil from the air rifle enough to trigger an auto-capture of the shoot to a video file on the scope ... no. I have that feature turned on and it's not triggering. For you non-thermal guys, most if not all thermal scopes allow a feature where your scope's operating system will save to video file five seconds before it senses "recoil" to five seconds after. You then download them later to your laptop or desk computer. But the PCP rifle pushing a .22 pellet apparently doesn't generate enough recoil to trigger it.

Shot a big "Jethro" rat in the barn night. Blew him off a barn rafter and decided to go double-check his "status", but I needed to turn on the barn lights. I didn't have a tac light with me. I've mentioned before this type of a barn rat rig could use a white light, so got off my duff just now and ordered one of the barrel/tank bands being made for the Akela that have a small picatinny rail for lights. I didn't see any on Amazon, but found them on ebay.

What's your thoughts on the new FX DRS Tactical? Prices and lots of pictures here

I bought the .25 cal in 700mm. As a slug maker I primarily shoot slugs and the 700mm has the superior Heavy barrel for slugs. I will be shooting slugs at either 34 or 36 grain and although I’ll need to take the gun somewhat apart to tune it, I’ll only need to do that once and since the DRS Tactical already comes without the buffer tube and stock it’s already apart for tuning.
I already three Huben airguns: the GK1 in .25 and K1’s in both .22 and .25 so having a semiautomatic isn’t why I bought the DRS-T.
The plus points for me are the lightweight, the accuracy and the looks. I don’t have a PRS gun yet and I’m hoping that this will be my PRS rifle. Yes the DRS PRO is a true PRS rifle but it costs three times what the Tactical cost. I will definitely be using it for small game hunting as it is much lighter than my Huben .25 cal K1.
All the chatter that it looks too much like a PB doesn’t bother me at all, I really love how it looks. It’s bad ass and I know that it will be another one of my favorites to shoot.

Daystate  Delta Wolf - Why isn't it more popular?

I've thought about buying one off and on and was starting to consider it again. I hardly see any posts on them good or bad. Why are these rifles not more popular,? Is it the price, performance, or both?
For me, I hear electronics and I'm out. I would think that is the main reason to scare away potential new customers. In addition to the electronics the price.

AEA  First Big bore

Hey Gents. Looking for my first big bore. Looking for the best and consistancy and reliabliaty out to 100 to 150 yards. Have my eye on the t-rex and the Zuess. Would welcome any other makes. Not set on a caliber yet but will be intended for Deer and hogs here in Texas. What's the deal with AEA? Seems like I have seen a lot of negative feedback on them. Should I stay away from AEA all together?
A lot of people repeat what they hear online, but dont have personal experience with AEA. Some people hate on anything Chinese. I have had good luck with them. I have 3 aea, 2 bintac ( built by aea), 1 karma (built by aea ). Most are over 1 year old. I also have a brand new 60 day old eastern European gun that cost $2350. Guess which one leaks air.
Take your time, continue to research like you are doing, and dont rush into your purchase.
For that distance take a look at the 30 inch challenger and challenger elite big bores. I would also check out airforce as mentioned above

Diana  Please suggest a scope for Diana Bandit

The PP750 that is marketed by Artemis, Snowpeak and perhaps others, is a great gun.

The trigger is easy to improve, and I added two more notches to allow the "pull" of the butt to be shorter.

I don't know where you are located, but here's a listing for specifications.

I removed the rear sight and added a rear scope mount adapter. One could make one with basic hand tools but I was lazy.View attachment 585552

I used a piece of plastic to cover the cocking lever pin.

Likely several others have photos of the trigger adjustment, etc. I ordered some ball tipped set screws to replace the trigger screws which made the trigger even smoother.
Nice!! What grouping can you get on average at 20 & 25 meters? Is 30 or 35 meters asking too much for the pistol?

N/A  Big bore air rifle ammo

@fritzoskinnick It's just lead, but if you are in doubt I recommend consulting with an attorney for answers that you can have confidence in. It isn't worth risking one's freedom IMO.
Best reply I've ever received. Thank you for the advice and I think I should, considering it's a touchy legal issue.

🥳 Are you celebrating your airgun ANNIVERSARY? 🥳

I'd rather celebrate getting out of the hobby and selling everything off and make that my anniversary (n)
There's just too much crap you have to have to pull the trigger and minimizing to less makes me happy
I'll stick to a 45 for home protection and be done with it

The thing I HATE!!!! About dogs...

Don't get me wrong. My son's emotional support dog and our "spazmoid" Blue Heeler are literally FAMILY to me!! Recently a feral stray learned what happens when you hurt my family, and I'm there.

I got up this morning before 3am, which is semi-normal for me, but the WAY I woke up wasn't good. My Autistic, adult son got me up because his dog was throwing up. I grabbed my flashlight and we let her out. She starts eating grass like it's Filet Minon and she's starving.

A little back story ... she had to have her stomach attached to her abdominal wall because she had been developing bloat - where the stomach twists. That is extremely painful AND dangerous for the dog, as in life-threatening.

That's been corrected, but she still has a nervous stomach (she's on Prozac for her nerves).

So anyway, I gave her a pill we'd gotten from the Vet for her stomach to eliminate gas and discomfort and she did her thing with the grass.

She ate a ton of grass, puked, ate more grass, pooped and ate more grass. But not in a frenzy like she originally had been. Then she wandered the yard and came back in the house, where she drank a bunch of water.

She went to my son's room, and jumped into his bed (her #1 place to sleep during the day...she seems to feel safe there). Then after a few minutes, went out to the living room couch - her usual night time routine.

She seems to be 1,000% better, but obviously, I'll be keeping an eye on her.

This is what I hate. I get the same gut punch when someone I care about is hurt/sick, and it's worse when it's one of our dogs, because there's nothing I can do ... I feel totally helpless and I feel I NEED to fix whatever is wrong and all I can do is pet them and talk to them reassuringly, all the while knowing they don't understand my words.

Knowing this dog means SO MUCH to my son makes it worse.

Air Arms  AA S510 AIR LEAK

Thanks trucker,

it needed heat to get the cylinder loose.
there is a tiny burr inside the tube vent close to the breach. it chewed the O ring when I unscrewed the tube.

I replaced all of the O rings, but noticed the O ring that seals the Reg Housing into the breach had been damaged on factory fitment.
The Reg Housing was extremely difficult to slot into the breach. Silicone grease everywhere.

Has anyone replaced the NBR90 with NBR70, with success?
NBR70 seem to work in other pcp In my experience. (Weihrauch, Daystate, RTI P3).

Refitting the tube to the breach, the burr chewed the O ring, as previous.
I can’t fix the burr.

The tube leaked from the same vent hole.
For Whatever Reason there are bleed holes everywhere in this section of the action. An engineering nightmare compared to the likes of my Weihrauch 100s.

For such a nice and accurate rifle this section needs to be seriously redesigned.

Other  B-3 springer

The single-sear trigger in these and many other smaller / cheaper / older guns is what lets them down, big time. 8-pound trigger pull in a 5-pound gun just does not work, as you can't keep the sights on the target while pulling the trigger to break.

Polishing and lubing the sear / latch rod interface helps, but it isn't a long-term solution, I've found.

Air Venturi  Avenge X Firing Valve Replacement

Great description
It does, however, make me wonder how the picture in my head from reading it compares to reality.
Is there a schematic and parts list available for the X?
Edward
I see this is from last year, but if anyone runs across this thread and needing a visual of the work…check this YouTube video. This is part one of 3 parts. I was able to change the closed captioning to English on a computer just fyi.

What pistol did you shoot today

Are you taking about one of these.. I will make my minimal free shipping twice over with this part alone…lol

Yep, that’s it.
The four tiny indents in the top hole are the only points of contact of the square shaft that passes through that hole. As you might imagine, that’s not much contact area and a lot of slop could develop from wear if that area isn’t kept well lubed.

DTN ZHD520R battery start-up problem

Is anyone experiencing a similar problem?

I began setting up a new ZHD520R-V2 using the application and the USB-C power cord. I started with the firmware download, and finished with a successfull sync with the ballistic data from the App. The batteries were on the charger at .5 amp and now indicate full charge. While unplugged from the USB power adapter with the batteries properly inserted, the unit will not power up. I tried both batteries with no success. With the battery in, and the unit plugged in with the USB connector, the unit will power up normally. Upon startup, I immediately unplug from the USB power and the unit will handoff to the battery successfully. The unit will even go into standby mode with a quick tap of the button and come out of standby mode back into full function while on the battery. It is only when I shut the unit down that it will not re-power up with the battery.
After the handoff the optic seems to function normally. It even indicates the batteries are fully charged as does the charger.
I am hoping this is a bug in the firmware.
