Pellet testing on pests?

I was going to do something similar but with just clay i dug out of ground and processed to be as clean as i can get. Its not the same as a critter but i figured it would be a good media to test. I am getting a corbin slug press and will be able to make a few different slug types like regular hp, hollow ogive, and x punch slugs. My thinking is i would be able to hopefully see a difference butween the 3 and see how much different weight of slugs and speed make. This is in a vulcan 3hp .30 and ive played around with 59 gr zan in the clay....its fairly destructive at 970fps. There is nothing left of the slug but little pieces and a giant cavity in clay. These tests were to see how much clay i would need for my testing so far about a 8x8x8 block contains without too much block expansion. Pluss it was fun and my kiddos enjoyed getting dirty making clay

Airforce  TexRex 457/510

I love my Air Force Texan .51Cal, but I have to recommend the 457 caliber simply because the available slug choices are superior, especially when it comes to long range.
Yes, the better selection of Ammo is the selling point for me!! I have a dragon claw that I love but very limited on the ammo!!!!

Vevor water cooled, looks like a GX CS4 clone...

the vevor works good, but its nothing like the CS4 in design (as you can see) or performance.
we filled the grandson's WC MKIII BT from 130 bar to 250 bar in 45 seconds.
its rpm is much faster than the GX CS4 i have, its about the same as the CS3 i had that lasted about 45hrs before it
failed.
the vevor's temperature runs about 18C above my CS4 when filling my Huben K1 from 170bar to 276bar, but it does it in about half the time because of the higher RPM it runs than the CS4 so you can figure the vevors life expectancy.
it should last a good while just filling the WC's 300cc bottle. if it lasts a year, i'm good with that.
we will see.......... :sneaky:

Testing JSB 13.43g Knockouts @ different velocities 53yards

The 13.43 or any trash can always seem to do well.
I don’t know how much wind, well you were rested on bench, if clean polished bore and lubed sorted pellets.

Does your Pulsar have the slow twist ART barrel?
No idea about the barrel, just bought it used. Shot off bench with bipod and just opened a tin, not lubed or sorted. 0 wind

Backstop,

I calls em, like I sees em. You're an asset to the Nation, no doubt about it.

Hunter,

Don't think you were out of line, at all. Hang around long enough, you'll see some, thankfully rare, that more appropriately qualify for that distinction.

I ordered two 400ct tins of H&N Baracuda Hunter Extremes from Pyramyd Air yesterday for $15.99 each. They offer a, "Buy 3, Get 1 Free," deal as well as a 15% discount. I also picked up some Predator Polymags for my Gauntlet, so got one of the 400ct. tins for free. This is H&N Sampler pack I mentioned before, you'll see the Hornet and Baracuda Hunter Extremes are lowest in volume. You could buy the Sampler and try for yourself, but I'd suggest trying the Hornet or, better yet, the Baracuda Hunter Extremes first and see what you think. Best Regards, WMView attachment 194897
pyramyd also has free shipping on orders over $250 I believe.

30-Yard Challenge

This one is for the leader board. I think it is a 200 16X shot with my Stoeger Bullshark in 22 caliber using my Vector Sentinel 8-32 set at 32 X. I was shooting AEA 18.3 grain pellets about 820 fps. This is the third target I shot with exactly the same setup today, the first is above and the second one was a 197. In between I shot two with FX 18.1 grain, a 195 11X and a 193 11X. So the AEAs definitely shoot a little better. At least these tins of AEA and FX. I am quite pleased to finally get a 200 this year. The weather report says there was a 3 mph wind but it had shifted to coming almost straight east to west this evening. That is better for me because I am then shooting right into the wind. One of my wind flags was still moving around a bit but after a few shots going right were I was aiming I figured out I could ignore the small movements sideways. I never moved off the 10 ring so the shots were still OK.

This gun was a gift from another member. I think he got frustrated with it because he could not adjust the regulator from the gauge end of the gun. The locking nut would turn the adjustment screw because the threads were messed up. I spun the stem in the nut while I watched TV one night until the threads smoothed up. But I've been adjusting it from the other end because I can then measure the overall length which gives me an idea what the setting is. The regulator is set a bit low but it gives me easily two targets on a fill with extra shots for sighting in. At least 60 shots. Plus it is accurate and plenty powerful enough for squirrels. Nice gift. I shoot it in the cherry stock I used to use on the P35-22.

FX  DRS Classic + Element Immersive

I love the 14X emersive scopes on my Leshiy 2 and WILDCAT haven’t put one on my DRS yet because they just don’t look right on conventional sporting rifles. I put a Hawke Airmax on the DRS which has a good field of view compared to most other scopes but not as good as the Emersive.

RAW Rapid  RAW HM1000X .25 or .30 cal

Jerry

I just saw Tim (igolfat8) ….this always cracks me up)

Post up some 100 yard EBR target scores testing various pellets. The AEA 45g pellets at 920 FPS scored a whopping 232 score. But he also had very decent results overall with wind and pellets on his other cards.

I know you are in the midst of waiting on Martin’s .30 pellet probe delivery and my .30 barrel, so I am very encouraged about your prospects of using the .30 for 100y + EFT targets.

My RAW HM1000X .25 took gold in Oregon this weekend!

Im using the factory barrel, and the Altaros 50gr smooth slugs.
Great job Cameron!

My RAW HM1000X .22 has a polygonal barrel designed for pellets. I have great accuracy for 30 and 40Y ( and N50 ) target challenge shooting. Don’t know the EFT long distance discipline.

Is your .25 a Poly? I’m not used to seeing RAWs have much success with slugs, so your post was a shock to me. Fantastic results.

Testing JSB 13.43g Knockouts @ different velocities 53yards

Programmed new settings for Low Med and High on the Pulsar HP .177 and testing it on the 13.43g JSB Knockouts @ 56 yards, pretty good results but I think the "TAKE AIM" slugs, at least in 15g may still do better, had some samples before and gonna have to order more once I burn through a couple more tins I have of these Knockouts.

30-Yard Challenge

My new highscore:cool: 197/200 - 9x's

Hoping I can get to a 200 by the end of the year:giggle: Still figuring out my best position at the moment. I shoot semi-bench, with a bipod up front and my rear hand supporting the buttstock.

Hi S_gru . Great score!

For this challenge, two items will speed up your obtaining that ‘200’ score. A scope with higher magnification, but at least 24X. A rear Protektor bag instead of using your hand to rest the butt stock on while shooting. Those.22 Crowns are very accurate, as attested by Ed ( Epg) and Greg ( NAprof).

Those 10 rings are minuscule and any movement of your reticle as you are releasing trigger can result in unwanted 8’s and 9’s.

What did you do airgun related today.

Got my new Theoben MFR in the house.... but sadly when I opened the box the stock was busted! Right at the wrist!

The seller, here on the forums has been very helpful and very willing to help. Already have a local guy that makes cusom stocks that will look at it for me. Should be a simple fix honestly, but will find out tomorrow.

This rifle is awesome..... shot a few mags through it and the rifle is quiet! The shroud on the end is really something!
