FX  fx impact m4 first 10 shots are slow

If you do any adjustments on the hammer spring or valve spring, it takes few shots for it to settled, reg pressure, same thing, after cleaning barrel, new gun. Just do some shooting, put 100-200 pellets down the line if you have new gun and check again
Good point about reg break- in. Just rebuilt mine and recovery times were terrible. After 150 shots down to about 3 seconds

30-Yard Challenge

Leaderboard Submissions:

Date: 7/7/25
Target: 30-Challenge 197 15X
Rifle: FX Crown .22 Synthetic (600mm superlight)
Pellet: FX 18.13g @ 885fps
Scope: Athlon Argos 10-40 SFP @ 32X

This is a brand new Crown (I'll do another post on the story behind it). This target was the 9th through 38th pellet (counting the 5 sighters shown) ever shot through the rifle - I kid you not!

Date: 7/7/25
Target 40-Masters 198 10X
Rifle: FX Crown .22 Synthetic (600mm SL)
Pellet: FX 18.13g @ 906fps (PW=17 - one click up from previous 30-Challenge card)
Scope: Athlon Argos 10-40 SFP @ 38X

I just shook my head that this thing shot a 197 30-Challenge and a 198 40-Masters "straight out of the box" - made Becky take my picture with the rifle and cards. In my next post, I'll explain what "straight out of the box" is for EPG, lol.

What did you order / receive airgun related today? Thread

Got 16 tins of .25 cal pellets from Pyramyd Air today. They do package them well. However UPS must have some seriously anti-pellet employees that do their utmost to damage them. Every bottom tin was bent to some degree. Opened one and didn't see any damaged pellets, regardless I'll just set those aside for plinking steel.
Pellet shipments might survive better if they were labeled "Fragile Handle With Care". Then UPS might not try so hard to damage them.
Target idea came from here on AGN, since I work in the wood mill at a furniture factory I've now requested damaged saw blades. Got three 12 inch blades today, and more will come. I'm a freebie salvage junkie...🤣

Springer vs. PCP

An excellent springer (I own 2 of them) is the HW30S. My son and daughter learned to shoot with these rifles at the age of 6 and 7. This was actually my first air rifle I bought back in the early 80's. They are fun - for parent and kid - and (again) will last you a lifetime. You can't say that for the el-cheapo PCP stuff. And pumping up a PCP is a phase we've all been through, it get's tiring pretty fast.
Give the kids a workout until they are stronger. Then any break barrel is available.

Umarex  Zelos things.

Contact Gongetit on this forum. He also makes the baffles for inside the tube.
I have seen the inspire bottle band before. I was looking for a barrel bottle band , but now considering a metal trigger guard pic rail to keep any weight completely off the bottle , or barrel.
My compact has the trigger guard pic rail. Balances nicely & keeps it trim.

Taipan  Baptized the new Taipan Vet 2 today

Great advice Tim.

The 25g MRDs are the only pellet I have not tried.

I will tune the HS up a bit and see if it can get to 920 fps.

Tx….
We tried JTS, AEA and JSB 25 grain pellets. It STACKED the JSB’s (deep). It did not like the JSB (Shallow) pellets. Since the JSB Shallows and the AEA and JTS also have shallow bases I wonder if the poor accuracy of those 3 had something to do with the seating depth? I’m not sure if the seating depth is adjustable on the Vet???

What did you do airgun related today.

Today I took the targent sights off of a fwb 601 and replaced them with a spare Trijicon SRO dot sight. This required a rail adapter being installed on the 11mm rail to fit the mill spec of the Trijicon. This was a very easy install after removing the sights. Then installing the SRO, again very easy next a rough zero with the Site Lite lazor. Then get a real zero shooting.

30-Yard Challenge

Leaderboard Submission:

Date: 7/5/25
Target: 40-Masters 195 10X
Rifle: .22 FX PowerPup (600mm Superlight)
Pellet: AEA 18.3g @ 909fps
Scope: Sightron SII 36x fixed power

This beats my 192 40-Masters that I had on the leaderboard with this rifle.

These AEA 18.3s seem pretty good. This rifle shows a bit a vertical dispersion - perhaps due to huge plenum and higher reg pressure than needed to shoot these 18g pellets. But I ain't complaining about a 195 40-Masters, lol. Right of the 1st (top) row is my 5-shot sighter group - that's dang tight at 40 yards...

Great shooting Tom. I sold my Vet II to my friend and he is loving it too. He tuned it up to shoot MRDs and it does much better in the wind than the 22 grain pellets. You might give those a try. I think his tune is about 920 with the 25.4’s.
Great advice Tim.
