Yeah, everyone claims that THEIR competition group is nice and welcoming. Based on my admittedly limited experience... I remain skeptical. My experience left a very sour taste when it comes to shooting competitions. Too much time, work, and "politics" to be worthwhile to me.

Maybe I'll change my mind some day and give it another try. But I've got a "day job" and family. I just enjoy my range time. It's therapeutic and relaxing. I'm not interested in a shooting activity with very limited time actually shooting (but a long time standing around) and lots of rules with the male version of "Karens" watching your every move. Nope... gonna pass for now and maybe forever.

I understand a lot of people like that. :)
I’ve learned after 68 years that the world is what you think it is. That which we project we attract more of…. An odd truth that proves itself again and again

Anyone have a Air Arms S510 XS Tactical pcp?

They are nice built pellet guns, same quality and function as they were 15 years ago...they are the opposite of FX in terms of changing and creating new models. The S510 is same power plant and tech as the s510's were 15 years ago just in a chassis and ar furniture. Nothing wrong with that as they are dependable quality pellet shooter. It definitely doesn't have power to spare for slugs nor is the heavily choke lw pellet barrel suitable for slugs...I modified the valve ports, add huma regulator, increased spring tension, machined parts to fit a 700mm fx liner. It ended up shooting nsa 17.5 grn slugs at 1000fps and was at that point a sweet shooter.

N/A  Will a gas piston trash a scope like a springer?

I hear mixed opinions about the affect a gas piston has on the life of a scope. FYI, I am using a Hawke AirMax 3 x 9 x 40 on my 15 foot pound gas piston rifle. Some otherwise knowledgeable sources say a scope is safe on a gas piston, and others say a gas piston is harder on a scope than a springer.

What is your experience.

Thanks in advance.

Bill

FX  Fx drs 500 vs 600

Looking between these two lengths for which would be handier to carry in the denser woods. Would have a moderator on either but main difference is the added length of the 600 with the smaller plenum being easier to maneuver than the 500 that comes with the larger plenum. Which would you go with as being easier to get around? Would be shooting pellets 95% of the time in 25 cal. Pretty new to air rifles.

I've been to a couple of events here in MA as a spectator. The people are wonderful and inviting to their world of fun.

Correct way to fill a brand new Zelos without pressure via a CS4-I

Hello everyone,

I have a brand new Umarex Zelos and want to fill it via my CS4-I compressor? After I function check it an fill it with coolant? Also, it better to fill the compressor with water or coolant? Thanks in advance for any guidance.

Lots of threads here about the GX compressors to research and get information. Mine's the CS4 and just hit 100hrs, am going to do a tear down inspection and possibly preventative maintenance. Still dead head test within a few seconds of new. Per others here, I added tad of Purple Ice, some use Water Wetter. Making sure you really purge any trapped air out the radiator is important water flow. If just direct filling a gun shouldn't have much worries about high running temperatures. Large tanks, long runs, better to do in intervals with cool down periods despite 5hr rated run time. Heat is what kills compressors over time. Over greasing will also cause higher operating temps, it's a case where a little is better than alot.
Hope yours gives you as much use and satisfaction as mine has. Any issues and GX is pretty good with their customer service and warranty.

First week of owning a Maverick 30.

Definitely. I do alot of whitetail and predator hunting in fields. The tripods have become a new set of hands for me. I start with a basic set and moved up. FATBOYS are where it's at! I find that my tripod is more stable to me than sitting on a shooting bench with bags. My main focus with PCP was to be able to teach my son to look through a scope and see picture in picture at a young age without hearing protect. This way I could talk him through what he was seeing. He is very excited to whitetail hunt but no way am I going to allow him to shoot at game until I feel confident it will be ethical. My powder burners have thermal that I can watch from my phone but that does me no good if he is wearing hearing protection.
