HW97 UPDATE

Had my HW97 2 years now and it only gets more accurate the more i shoot it.
Got mine from A O A and had them install a tune kit before they sent it. I shoot H & N field target trophy 8.64 gr. hitting a one inch target at 40 yards most every time but every gun has its fliers.
Cant rember the pellet speed but calculated to 12 and a half foot pounds .
If rou notice an accuracy change check the stock screws. mine came loose soon after i got it but when i snuged them up my accuracy realy got good.

Adjusting #1 regulator on the .30 cal Red Panda

I have the .30 cal Red Panda that was tuned for slugs directly from Karma. I shoot a 77 grain boat tail slug at 950 fps at 200 yards. I'm setting up the RP to shoot 200 yard bench rest targets.

Karma/Donnny FL presets the #1 regulator at 3000 psi and suggest that it should not be changed by the user.

However, my best tune for 77 grain slugs at 950 fps is to set my #2 regulator at 2950 psi. Now that I have a digital manometer on the #2 regulator, it takes an average of 1:45 seconds after each shot to obtain 2950 psi for the next shot.

The longer my shooting session, the longer it takes to get back to 2950 after each shot. The last shot I took today took 2:30 seconds.

I shoot tethered and have my external tank set to 3100 psi.

I believe it takes so long to refill the plenum to 2950 psi for each shot is because the #1 regulator and #2 regulator are both almost the same. 3000/2950 psi

As I mentioned, Karma/Donny FL does not recommend to make any adjustments to the #1 regulator. It's a pain the arse to wait 2 mins before each shot!

So, how do I do it? I just want the #1 regulator to be 10-20 psi higher or 3020 psi instead of 3000 psi.

Ranged pest control

I like post #8
Bait them in , or set up a blind 1/2 way out . No reason to spend $1000 or more (unless this is a good reason to buy one 👍 ) A .22 is plenty . place bait boxes out for several days , a week would be even better .(no shooting ) let them get comfortable

Ground squirrels are primarily omnivores, meaning they eat both plants and animals. Their diet varies based on the season and availability of food, but they generally consume a mix of seeds, nuts, grains, fruits, vegetation, insects, and even small animals.

Other  Smith and Wesson 76G Exhaust valve

i have a amend my last post
i had an idea of how the seals could fit without the stem being removed
that was take and remove the lip on the seal cup and then reduce the barb on the stem
so, in the drill the stem went, chucked up on the spring side and used an exacto knife to scrap the lip away, took a few minutes
i cut a new seal with and 1/8 center and 5/16 OD and it pushed on with a little help
now my material might be 0.3-0.4mm to thick and when the stem is out you set the barb on top on the seal and in doing so the stem to face dimension stays the same but in this case the stem length will be that amount short
so just an idea down the road

N/A  Aigunsmithing Tools - Advice and Suggestions

@maxtrouble Thank you. Which of these kits do you use?

They have very good product presentation on their site.
I carry around the Gunsmithing set in my range bag.

These are for my work bench.

New to AGN

Thanks! This approach seems to be the consensus for how to tune this particular platform from the info I could find. I spoke with Tony at Talon and he said to do exactly as you have suggested. Do you have any pointers on “fine” tuning? Is it worth playing with 1/16 or 1/32 turns to dial in accuracy/consistency, or do I look towards the valve/hammer for that? My apologies if the question is ridiculous, my experience is close to zero with this type of design.

This rifle is super accurate at 25fpe and jsb 10.3’s, it would be a shame if I can’t shed 100+ fps. If not I’ll just go dedicated slug gun and then save for something more appropriate for HFT.
No worries! Got a U2 and U3 myself, so… if your reg is sitting at 90b, which it probably will, at least if you have the 600mm regular, I’d probably go max 1/8th of a turn on the reg. Not sure how good the reg will do at 80b or below since the gun is meant for power tbh… the hammer will not help with fine tuning, the valve is 100% balanced and only knows open or not. If you keep the hammer below “fully open“, it’ll be inconsistent and the slightest reg creep will make the first shots maybe not even leave the barrel. Getting a 600mm below 20fpe might be kind of challenging to be honest…

Edit: oh and you may have to modify the stock to give the hammer adjuster enough room to go out far enough for your needs. Had to do that with the .177 U2 as well with the reg at 90b, so below 90b is probably even worse…).

any shape will do... as long as your mounting holes match. That said i like a simple round plate with a 2" hole, and you can make reducers to decrease the size of the KZ. Pic #2 shows a reducer in use.

Thanks. I'm trying for some variety for EFT. I have a new trigger design that I hope will work better.

AEA challenger pro better magazine

Did not care the magazines that came with rifle . Did an internet search and came up with a company called Maplewood Custom Products. Claimed their magazine was a much better product than AEA provided. Took a chance and ordered one. Magazine arrived in reasonable time. Magazine holds 12, .25 pellets and slugs, extremely easy to load and has an indicator informing you when you have 3 or less rounds. I have shot a few hundred pellets and slugs with this magazine and is has performed flawlessly. They truly do make a superb magazine. I now own two of their magazines. I’m not sponsored in any way by them, just thought I would tell you about their performance.
I own a bunch of aea guns, and unfortunately they come up short on magazine fitment and quality. It's such an important piece of how the gun functions, I just don't get it. People will gladly pay more for quality.
