here's the Texas regulations for PCP Air guns:
In Texas,
pre-charged pneumatic air guns are
legal for hunting deer, but they must meet specific requirements. These guns must fire a projectile of at least .
30 caliber with a minimum weight of
150 grains and a muzzle velocity of at least
800 feet per second, or
any combination of bullet weight and muzzle velocity that produces at least
215 foot-pounds of energy. Additionally, hunters using air guns must comply with all other hunting regulations, including licensing and hunter education requirements.
I think you might be better off getting 2 guns, a cheap Plinker (.22 Notos) for the small stuff and a Big bore (.35 - .50) for the big stuff.
I'm in Texas also, but I have lots of PCP's from .22 to .50, if I hunt deer I'll use my .457 Texan or the .510 Hammer, My .357 shin sung Fire is not enough power to meet Texas regulations.
