TJ barrel on Evol 3 circular indentations near muzzle…

To me it looks like the way the choke is formed. Get something rougher than jb bore bright and hit that area for 20 to 30 strokes with the paste on a bore mop , clean then hit with bore bright for 30-40 strokes and see how it shoots. Also looks rough farther down and possibly has lead sticking

The Buck Rail tactical kit was a great upgrade to my Avenger. Next plan is to convert it from .25 to .22 and replace the short air tube with a 2nd long one.
The reason for the caliber change is that I cast pellets/slugs and I have a wider selection in .22.
The Avenger is my only .25 gun and I plan to sell/trade the one .25 mold I have for another .22 mold.

The other reason is that I enjoy tinkering nearly as much as shooting.
I beat ya to it. Put my .22 avenger in a BR stock and swapped the short bottom tube for a second long one. Under $500 build that has produced sub moa groups at 100yds. With the BR moderator it is LONNNG! I own 6 PCP’s and the most expensive one is my Cayden. I think I gave $550 for that beautiful tack driver. Three Hatsan bullpups that will cut pencils at 30yds, and all my guns are tuned to run Crosman pellets. The only one that I didn’t buy used is my only .177. Got a “refurbished “ Akela .177 from Airgun Revisions that was actually brand new, and STILL under $300! Too much fun for not much money. Can’t say the same for my powder burners. Too much fun for WAY too much money!

Balistas?

I buy from both and have had minor problems with each but overall I continue to buy from them. I have gotten guns from both and mostly buy pellets. The secret is to increase your tin count until you reach the next level in shipping cost to determine the lowest "per tin" shipping rate! You can repeat to the next level to maximize your savings!
I've noticed that too. But I wonder if there's a cap where shipping prices stops going up? I think at most I've seen the shipping at $108.

K&F Concept Mini Tripod

I got another one as well but a tall one. It's the national geographic one with the twist legs for $57 it can hold! I posted it on the Tripod Thread.
I got the Primos Trigger stick tripod. I like the adjustability but the trigger/palm rest is plastic and flexes when you put on a gun. That's my only gripe about it.

22cal Airgun for Wildboar Hunting!?

I shot a boar years ago right behind the shoulder with a 150 grain Corelok from a 30-30 at 20 yards. Complete pass through, he flopped in his tracks, laid there a few seconds and jumped up and ran full steam right at me. Another one between the eyes dropped him a few feet in front of me. That’s a hunt you don’t forget. Think hard about a .22 airgun.

FX  When you’ve got (2) 500mm DRS’s but one of them has a larger plenum!

I wanted to see how much power I could squeeze out of the larger plenum version and still maintain a good shot count of at least 3 full magazines (42 shots).

Here's my baseline
  • Both are .22 caliber
  • Both have a rather small 210cc air capacity
  • My DRS Classic Synthetic has a 32cc plenum
  • My DRS Tactical has a 54cc plenum
  • Both regulators were set at 100b
  • Both of these came perfectly tuned at 880 FPS with 18g pellets
  • As is they yielded 4 full magazines (56 shots). Plus I got 2 more shots within 5 FPS after it dropped off the reg
  • 225b to 100b = 2.2cc's per shot
My goal was to shoot 22g pellets @ 880 FPS. While this was easily achievable, I had to increase the reg to 120b and +30 HST clicks, which was using too much air.

So next I tuned for 22g pellets @ 860 FPS. With the reg at 115b and +21 HST clicks I was able to get 38 shots. Good, but shy of my goal of 3 full magazines. 225b to 115b = 2.9cc's per shot.

Next I tuned for JSB Monster Lite 21g pellets. With the reg at 110b and +12 HST clicks I was able to get 46 shots @ 860 FPS. Goal achieved. 225b to 110b = 2.5cc's per shot. That's as much power as I want to squeeze out of this airgun. With these settings I also tested the velocity of the following pellets: AEA 22g @830 FPS, JSB 25g Hades Monster @800 FPS (I've confirmed that these shoot faster than you'd think for the weight), and 22g FX Hybrid slugs @ 820 FPS.

If you do feel the need to tune it, the adjustments are more accessible in the Classic version as all you need to do is remove the stock to access the HST. But, in order to access the HST on the DRS Tac you need to remove the top rail, trigger guard, and stock adapter. It looks intimidating, but its actually only 11 screws.

IMO, the .22 caliber 500mm DRS is a moderately powered (30-35 FPE) pellet shooter. The platform is ultra light weight, yet very rigid. I believe it was designed to simply take it out of the box and shoot, no tuning necessary.

Brocock/BRK  Need some help with a BRK atomic and hand pump

I will try that tomorrow in the morning thanks. Trying to think everything through, but it seems like it just stalls as soon as the pressure builds up in the fill line.
If pump is acting up, clean check valve. Coby, of Topa Manufacturing Company, has Chinese handpump tear-down videos on YouTube that helped me. Might be one-way valve in Atomic is stuck, few drops silicone oil in male foster fitting, or inserted fill probe end, allowed to soak overnight, might help loosen. WM

Crosman pellets

If Crosman is switching the .22 Hollow Points to the Daisy design, I welcome it. I've bought them a few times since 2020 and each time they have grouped well in multiple rifles, and better than most Crosman HPs I've purchased over the last 10 years or so.

Example of a couple of 30 yard groups from a QB79 HPA conversion.

The last time I got a tin of Crosmans that would produce ragged holes was 2013.

And the Daisies are straight up wrecking balls for pest control. One recovered from a gray squirrel:

Thank you for an emperical glimmer of hope for the quality of the now “imported” CPHPs…

I'm no Ron Robinson but I enjoy being competitive in the 30 yard challenge with my under $500 bullpups. There are some similarly prices rifles competing too but most seem to be over $1000 and even a few Thomas rifles that I understand are several thousand dollars. With your record, you could do really well with one of your inexpensive airguns. All you need to do is go to the thread on this website, download the target, and print some out. Set them at 30 yards and post pictures for the rest of us to admire of your results. You will probably also want a 22 caliber scoring plug but you may already have one and if not they are inexpensive. Very few rules. There are also guys shooting at 40 yard but I don't have the space for that at home. Ed keeps a spreadsheet of results which he updates at least once a month.

Thank you for the invitation Jim. Unfortunately between competing in AAFTA Field Target, Extreme Rifle & Pistol FT, Airgun Bench-Rest Silhouette, Steel Challenge competitions, and hosting, staging and Match Directing the Extreme FT Matches, my competitions cup overfloweth already. But thanks again, Bud.

Happy Shooting,
R

Other  GK1 vs Leishy 2 250

Nothing is coming close to the L2 for a backpack gun.

Well, I don't just need the gun to be small when I pack it
I need my gun to be small when I shoot it.

😞 And the Leshiy has to be "unfolded" to shoot.
➠ For that reason, I never considered the L1 or L2 as an option for my stable....
