Really nice “thwack” on a Dove last night

Nice shot! Good on you for owning up. An identifier besides the spots (Mourning) and collar (Collared)-the Collared Dove's tail is square, the Mourning Dove's is pointed. Also the Collared dove is usually lighter in color than the Mourning dove.
Thank you for that! I usually use the calls as my first identifier. The mourning dove call is very different. Then in my eagerness to shoot I thought that shadow on its neck was the ring. Definitely the wrong choice but we live and we learn. There’s so many viable species to target near me that I try really hard to make sure I’m shooting the right ones.

Adult Collared is a fair bit larger bird than an Adult Mourning .... Think smaller Pigeon size ;)
Yeah totally. That’s why I was looking up juvenile collared doves. We have a lot of both mourning and collared doves near my house and there’s lots of fledglings about. Either way it was a bad call on my part but I wanted to post because the sound was just sooo good haha.

30-Yard Challenge

Can I use my .25?
Thinking the larger pellet would be a little unfair with this scoring system.
Yes, you can use your .25. We have some .25 caliber on the leaderboards.

Please use a .22 scoring plug with the .25 - it works fine as the .25 holes are still slightly smaller than the .22 plug.

First day with slugs!

This was just a 2hour "work". Not really a day. There are plenty more for the Next weeks. Its a nice playground for food.

My uragan2 is much quieter then the "thud" of the slugs hitting. I was surprised how much noise the impact makes. I"m really happy with the setup.

I have some friends that are wanting to go with me, I have other PCPs to try out, even though this is my main rig. Are you in europe?
Sadly I’m not in Europe. Although I did live in Germany and France many years ago. I was mostly just kidding haha but thank your for asking. That’s very kind.

Yes the sound of slugs hitting is much louder than the gun a lot of the time. It’s one of my favorite things about air rifle hunting. Happy to hear you’re having such a good time! Definitely take your friends though! Haha it’s nice having friends that get hooked into the same hobby and air guns are more addictive than crack haha.

First day with slugs!

1) Excellent work! You had quite the day!

2) Something about shooting lighter weight slugs super fast just WORKS when it comes to hunting. I’m shooting 31gr at 970-975fps right now now and it’s instant kill too. How did they sound when they hit?

3) Looks like there’s a real pest problem at this property you were at. Zan slugs aren’t cheap either so if you need someone to share the burden with you just let me know. I know a guy 😂😂😂😂

Tonight’s Dog Walk Carry 🤘 (show&tell)

Nice!…into knives way over my head. First Randall was a No.1….carried it all over the world in my previous life. My brother is a custom maker too. Nice GEC too!
You in knife groups on FB? If so I’m sure we know mutual people. Thanks for your service 💪 #1 is such an iconic knife. I know of a Chris Taylor that makes custom slipjoints. I’ll just PM you lol

Refinishing safety

^ I feel ya.

I saw a few things in over twenty years working as an environmental consultant. I did a few stints in industrial hygiene as well. 'Dose makes the poison.' Controlling exposure as much as possible is one of the keys, but then you know that. The PEL (permissable exposure limit) for anything is at best a guestimate.

Always read the MSDS has become personal policy.

Cheers,

J~

Good eye. You must know knives atleast a little bit then. It’s a Randall model 7 but I had it rehandled. One of my favorite makers Treeman knives(Jim Behring) of Michigan did the handle. He used some beautiful red stag for the handle then capped it in brass. Here’s another pic of it and a before and after. You into knives?

Benjamin  Tank options

This is my current refill situation. The tank is out of hydro and I do not know anyone in the area that has a compressor...to refill on the regular. Given the current set up what are my option in terms of a smaller tank? I have been thinking about the smaller carbo fiber paintball tanks...Only looking to fill a tank to 3000 psi.....refilled a PROD.... What kind of adaptor would i need to transition into that they of tank.? Any and all information would be great.

Events  Some thoughts for match directors or clubs trying to Grow Field Target

yep, pretty much always the case
i did forget the number one thing in my mind:
We need to remember that while "competition" is part of a match for some people.....
Having fun is much more important than winning.
Yes, thats a tough one too. It hard to separate that sometimes.
