i never chrono it
i would think it would be around 500 as a guess
CO2 like a longer barrel but at what point is the guess
the 2240 barrel is too short but the 10.2 always seemed about right
i did all my barrel cutting with pillow block it is a poor man's lathe
you can put the hack saw right against the pillow block and turn the barrel and hold the saw in place nice 90 degree cut and then you can dress the barrel end
if the barrel or anything is over 3/8 use a socket a 1/4 drive adapter for a drill
this is a small setup that i used to file a larger barrel groove to adapt a Crosman SSP-250 barrel for a Gamo compact
the pillow blocks are hot glued to and sturdy board

A real treat for Sheridan lovers!

He looked way out and spotted some large black bird in the distance. Pumped up 8 times, aimed and shot . HE said I got him!! So I went out there looking for this bird under his guidance of direction. When found it ,it turned out to be a grackle. I paced back 100 yards out! Talk about magic !! But this was true. And those Sheridan bantam pellets were not only accurate but super penetrating. 30gallon steel galvanized garbage pails were completely penetrated and still went into soft wood the depth of the pellet. Just want to mention to AirnGas man to take that rear site off as the spring pressure will eventually crack the solder of the barrel to lower tube. Earlier sights had set screws and presented no problem. Just tap out the thin plastic blocks under the clip and it comes right off. Instead have it drilled and tapped for the williams 5D Peep sight. Youll shoot it even better!! Heres my 3

HW/Weihrauch  Vintage HW30S Courtesy of Air Canada

Since Bob & Doug Air is shut down and I’m not picking Kim up at airport today I decided to peruse estate sales. First one had a pic of what looked like two Blue Streaks, a Daisy underlever carbine, and an unmistakable HW breech block. Couldn’t tell which model from pics. First time I’ve ever seen respectable air rifles at estate sale here. 33 miles away, was rolling in less than 5. The Streaks and Daisy had sold on first day of sale Thursday, but this little HW30 was still there. And it was half price day too! Some wear, some surface rust, trigger guard so loose I’m surprised it didn’t fall on the floor, this girl was used. But, rifling looked good and Rekord trigger on it. Pre-safety. Paid and ran. Got home, tightened trigger guard, grabbed some AA 8.4 that were already on table. Not only did it shoot, it shot great! Beautiful shot cycle, NO buzz, NO twang. Trigger was crisp. Will chrono when it’s not 98 degrees and 110 heat index outside but my guess is it’s close to spec. Date code puts this one at 1967 according to The List so assuming it’s a leather seal? Looks like the metal cap on the end where safety would be on a new one just pops off to fit on a spring compressor but someone correct me if I’m wrong. Neat little rifle, glad I found it. Just hope Bob & Doug don’t expect a thank you, because they’re definitely not on our Christmas list this year.

My guess :There is contention amongst hunters about feeders, fences and sometimes blinds.

For feral hogs I am of the opinion that all of the "fair chase" and ethics arguments go out the window. At least here in the states.

Ive run into people who've argued sitting up on a boulder 500 yards away and sniping pigs isn't hunting, it's just killing. That sort of stuff because It doesn't give the game a chance to get spooked and run off.

Its been good, ive had one for 8 months. I've never had an issue with it. Its fun semi auto, easy to shoot off hand. Its internally baffled and pretty quiet for a 10 inch barrel 30 cal. It makes just shy of 50 ft/lbs. 690-710 fps with 45 grain pellets. I get 6 mags /54 shots per 300bar fill. Its pretty accurate to like 40 yards. Hits its mark. The only negative is using the "bolt action" is difficult to manipulate, there's a release lever that's a pain to deal with. I just leave it in semi auto all the time.

FX  What causes regulator to be same pressure as the rest of the air tube?

I of course am just in the camp of not being a fan of the fx reg design. Be it Huma or whatever. Every other brand gun I have owned lacked the hidden and tricky to get at orings present in the FX design. No thanks. Great shooting guns though. 100 %. Selling my last one.

Digital calipers are your friend. Measure the groove inside diameter, the outside diameter and the width for the cross section and measure the orings..... If they're not obvious ones. It gets tedious but you can make a cheat sheet on the first rebuild and trace orings onto the notes.

Match Report Boerne Field Target Club Aug 2025

The Boerne Field Target Club located at the Boerne Shooting Club, 33 Shooting Club Rd, North West of San Antonio, Texas just off I-10 held our monthly match on the second Saturday of the month on a warm morning with light breezes changing to over 90 degrees with moderate winds by the end of the event. The results:

Hunter PCP

Scotty H. RAW TM-1000, Sightron SIII, JSB 13.4 gr, 48/60 80%
Jim C. Daystate Red Wolf, Sightron SIII, JSB 13.4 gr, 47/60 78%
Glenn D. BK Ghost, Sightron, JSB 13.43 gr, 30/60 50%

Hunter Piston

Robert D. Air Arms TX200, Hawke 8-24 x 56, H&N Barracuda FT 9.57 gr, 32/60 53%

After the Field Target and starting precisely on time at 1 p.m. we held an introductory session of what we call “10 Meter Silhouette”. This event is designed to be shot mostly with 10 meter airguns using open or red dot sights, but other guns up to and including 20 FPE Field Target guns may be used. The targets are 1/10 scale metal creatures at 10 to 35 yards. Quite a few targets and ranges were put out and a large variety of rifles were made available for free use. Around 10 people attended and they all had tremendous fun.

At our next match day (2nd Saturday of each month) we will hold a more formal 40 shot match but will set up a sight-in/practice/play area as well. Cost will be only $10 per shooter with the demo area free.

Next Field Target Match, Saturday 13 September 2025. Show time 8 a.m., start time 9 a.m.

The best thing I did thus far is set up a 2240 with a 16 inch barrel and a tko ldc and set a paintball tank up for 1k output instead of 850 on the gun. So the foster on the tank takes 45oo fills or she can come to you for fills or tank swaps. The gun is single shot which isn't conducive to older dexterity sometimes. Part of me wants to say she needs a semi auto 22lr.

Pic has an air switch and vent, 16 fpe 22 and you can switch paintball tanks, run co2 or air but air is slightly higher performing. This is loaner 1. Loaner 2 is similar but more conventional same power level and it's regulated.

The nice thing about loaner 1 with wood grips is the gun is tuned to play nice with 850 psi... So she could technically swap bottles at a sporting goods store or paintball supply store and stay in business. I shot co2 with it for years for the high shot count. It was meant to fold and go in a backpack to ride to hangout spots on our dirtbikes and have some cold snacks and shoot at junk or hunt occasionally. No it's not a big powerhouse but it can shoot hundreds of rounds on the pictured tank. If she has access to a sporting goods place that will fill paintball hpa it gets more powerful but requires more fills. The tube adapter cap got the check valve pulled out so that when the air supply is switched off it degassed the whole gun and the tank spun off easily. Also the valve had to be anchored. Yes there's noise and gas waste

I don't think beyond initial training and occasional zero confirmations that granny is going to go thru too many rounds?

The regulated shorter barrel conventional pcp conversion gets at least 50 shots on a fill but operates at much higher pressures.

My mind goes back to what I used to use before the mrod came out, cci cb longs. 20 grains at 7-800 fps but firearms regulations come into play. It's hilariously quiet for being a rimfire.

I hope you find a solution beyond bringing your friends over for a day of siege on rodents.
