FX  What causes regulator to be same pressure as the rest of the air tube?

As a physicist I find your O ring timeline quite satisfying, I was confused about the behavior but that seems an entirely plausible series of events, thanks for that. I can stop scratching my head now.

The 'washers' I was in fact referring to are the Belleville washers, conical washers made of spring steel. It is a neat way to make a tunable high pressure spring I may incorporate into my sciencing in the future. And in the video they describe the first two washers, those next to the piston head, as the 'black washers' and indicated that they are a different color which I did not notice when I looked at them.

As for the grease, thanks for the advice. I find earned experience such as this quite valuable. I may try it when the rings come in although the only oil I have currently is bar oil and two stroke mixing oil. The two stroke oil is right out but the bar oil has a number of the mechanical features you would want for reg use but I have no idea how it will interact with the O rings so I probably would not rely on that unless I plan on tearing the valve apart again this winter. It might be an interesting exercise though? You say mobile one? Seem like there must be some of that in my garage somewhere for the four stroke four wheeler, the garden tractor or the small lawn mower in there. I mean I must have a botte somewhere in there. I can't get around like I used to because of the chair but I will ask my wife to have a look.

Thanks for the help, much appreciated.
Hi etothen. Thank you for following through with your questions and responses. Many, for lack of a better word, "newbies" ask questions and then just bail out of the thread after many AGN members have tried to help. As you know, shooting is physics. That's what I like about it -- trying to understand the physics of it all -- advanced rock-throwing. Details, determination, curiousity, patience, follow-through, etc. all come into play. I think you will do well and, hopefully, have fun too.

Diana  Springer Shooting Technique

I would try the heaviest pellets I could find to start with, you gun has lots of power and lighter pellets will be squirrely after about ten yards. I would hold the gun as center balanced as possible so the recoil travels back and forth not up. You can put enough pressure on the butt against your shoulder to keep it from kicking you like you would a firearm and a firm but gentle grip with your support hand. As some have said try to be consistent with your hold.
I didn't read every post so if you have it tuned down from magnum power than lighter pellets should be fine.

Hornets nest

And they are back. Rebuilding in the exact same spot.
This is why I did not want to pay a professional. I knew I would be doing this again. This time I will leave the nest. After I practice tomorrow morning. I will gear up and soak the tiny nest down and leave it there. Maybe the rest will comeback and die from the spray.

Results  August TEXtreme Competitions Match Report

Was I not exhausted from fighting everything Technology related in Ronny World going haywire for the last three weeks, I might apologize for this match report coming later than usual. However I won’t apologize for Technology gone haywire. From what I can tell, HAYWIRE is what Technology does! 🤬

The August TEXtreme competition(s) being 20 and 12 foot pound field target allowing any airgun in either class falling within the respective power restriction, competitors were also allowed to purchase two scorecards if they liked. They liked. In fact if two shooters’ 12 foot pound pistols hadn’t sprang leaks at the last minute, every shooter would have shot two scorecards.

My priority in setting the courses being 20 and 12 foot pound pistols with very high Troyer difficulties in both cases, interestingly only two shooters contested 20 FP Pistol on the 40.6T average course. Also interesting (since it’s usually not the case), four shooters shot 20 Foot Pound Rifle class on the same course (that translated to a low, 25.8 Rifle Troyer).

Four competitors also took advantage of the opportunity to exercise their 12 Foot Pound Pistols on the high, 39.1 Pistol Troyer course.

If you think describing the opportunities available to shooters by allowing them to shoot one or two scorecards with rifles, pistols, or both on (essentially) two courses, imagine the challenge of squadding those opportunities.😵‍💫 The things I do for my shooters!

Strangely, the first priority of Extreme Pistol Field Target had the least number of shooters (two). Derrick Wall captured top bragging rights in 20 Foot Pound Pistol with an excellent 39/40 score. Matter of fact he was clean the whole match going into not only his last target on his last lane, but his very LAST SHOT.🥵 Unfortunately his last target boasted 'far and away' the highest Troyer difficulty of the day. “How high”, you’re wondering. The 1” kill-zone dove at 38 yards on Lane 4 is a high difficulty for rifles at 38T; WAY OFF THE CHARTS for pistol at a whopping 59.9 Troyer!

You’d think a squad-mate with over a decade of Field Target experience might have absorbed some amount of Field Target etiquette along the way. You’d be wrong. Upon Derrick’s last shot on his last target of his last lane not dropping the OFF THE CHARTS DIFFICULTY 1” dove at 38 yards, his squad-mate burst out laughing! 😂

I’ve long suspected Derrick Wall super-human or space alien, but now realize my mistake. Any regular human wouldn’t have taken such a gauche reaction from a squad-mate at such an emotionally taxing moment without an extreme reaction to it.😤 But not Derrick. 😐

Those unfamiliar with coming THAT close to achieving one of the rarest achievements in Field Target can’t imagine the let-down of missing that goal on the last shot. Suffice to say it’s exponentially more depressing than otherwise.😭 That Derrick came that close to a perfect score on such a high-difficulty course is evidence enough he is super-human. That his squad-mate survived such a breach of etiquette is proof-positive Derrick Wall is a saint🧚‍♂️😶‍🌫️ (sorry D, these are the closest emojis I could find 🥴), who only contests Field Target competitions to demonstrate how humans should act.

DW’s super-human 39/40 score was posted with his .20 Brocock Commander topped with 4-18X Discovery scope, and shooting 13.73 grain JSB pellets 805 FPS. Phenomenal shooting, Derrick!

I’d thought my 34/40 Extreme Pistol score a pretty good one, but had to settle for the highlight of my match day being cleaning both shots on the 59.9T dove. Correction- the highlight of my day was standing in the shadow of a saint.

However I did manage to prevail for the 12 Foot Pound Pistol class win with a 31/40. My Crosman 187 pistol conversion shoots 8.4 grain JSBs at 760 FPS, and wears a 4-12X Bushnell Legend scope.

Of four shooters in 12 FP Pistol, Jim Clarke came second with a 30/40 score. JC (see what I did there, after all that ‘saint’ stuff?) shot a Brocock Atomic XR pistol topped with a 10-50X Hawke scope, pushing 13.43 pellets 630 FPS. Good shooting, Jim.

Billy Davison won the 20 Foot Pound Rifle class, turning in a perfect 40/40 scorecard. His .20 caliber RAW rifle shoots 13.73 grain JSBs 803 FPS, and wears an S3 scope. Nice shooting, BD!

Jim Clarke’s 38/40 in 20 FP Rifle was good for his second Second of the day. His SIghtron SIII scoped Redwolf shoots 13.43 JSBs at 815 FPS. Good shooting, Jim.

Weather permitting, our September 6 & 7 TEXtreme competitions will be Rifle and Pistol Extreme Field Target matches (respectively), with a prize list of $1,000 in AoA gift certificates. Hope to see Y’all then.

Happy Shooting,
Ron & Maggyy

Wild Pig “Hunt” with Huben GK1 and Slugs

@CCook Because the use feeders eliminates various elements of hunting. In my opinion shooting animals under and around feeders is not hunting if one is not old and is still able bodied. The content creator is climbing a ladder into a tree stand which demonstrates to me that he is able bodied. The fact that he fails to use a harness or other visible safety equipment says he isn’t too concerned about remaining able bodied.

My experience has shown me that it is very easy to get very close to wild pigs and hogs without bait.
Interesting. So what do you consider a hunt?

Coyote hunt, skunked again

Yeah we have some of that too but not as much trees as you have in this pic. Up high we have a lot but spread out and down here the thickets are nasty AF to walk through but even my short (5’9”) self can see over it most of the time…. That landscape you’re showing me is interesting. I think the wind direction is gonna be especially important because your scent can sorta get trapped in the trees like that. Or so I hear? I’ve pretty much only had success sitting up on a hill/cliff overlooking open terrain and or around a bend in a wash. Learned that one from an old timer. I’m still not great at it but if you set up behind a bend in a wash or creek bed you can catch them coming around the corner.

Also how loud are you playing the calls? Sometimes less is more.

I’m no expert so I’m just trying to throw as many things as I can think of at you… I’ve had some luck calling them though so maybe at least I’ve got a little luck. I’m rooting for you though. I hate coyotes and I really wanna shoot some with an air rifle. I’m dying to see some scope cam of you dropping 140fpe worth of lead into them.

Oh yeah, another thing I’ve started to investigate is moon phase and barometric pressure. Trolling the coyote hunting message boards I’ve definitely seen some talk about it. Some recommend an app like Solunar, some say it’s nonsense and others just day “when there’s a lot of deer out I tend to catch more fish/see more coyote/see more critters… I’m testing an app like solunar to see if I get any results out of it.
I do keep the wind in my favor, try to anyway, and start with the volume pretty low at first and turn up the volume every 2 or 3 min for 12min or so.

N/A  New pcp air rifle.

here's the Texas regulations for PCP Air guns:

In Texas, pre-charged pneumatic air guns are legal for hunting deer, but they must meet specific requirements. These guns must fire a projectile of at least .30 caliber with a minimum weight of 150 grains and a muzzle velocity of at least 800 feet per second, or any combination of bullet weight and muzzle velocity that produces at least 215 foot-pounds of energy. Additionally, hunters using air guns must comply with all other hunting regulations, including licensing and hunter education requirements.

I think you might be better off getting 2 guns, a cheap Plinker (.22 Notos) for the small stuff and a Big bore (.35 - .50) for the big stuff.
I'm in Texas also, but I have lots of PCP's from .22 to .50, if I hunt deer I'll use my .457 Texan or the .510 Hammer, My .357 shin sung Fire is not enough power to meet Texas regulations.

Recommended airguns meeting Texas regulations
  • AirForce Texan: Available in various calibers, including .30, .357, .45, and .50, all of which exceed the minimum requirements. Reviews suggest it's powerful and accurate enough for deer hunting.
  • Umarex Hammer Carbine: A .50 caliber air rifle that's compact, accurate, and powerful, generating over 600 ft-lbs of energy and good for large game like deer and hogs.
  • Hatsan Piledriver: Available in .457 and .50 caliber, it's known for its accuracy, power, and reliability in taking deer, hogs, and other game. A new .62 caliber version generates over 750 ft-lbs of energy.
  • Benjamin Bulldog: A big bore air rifle suited for hunting large game like hogs and deer.
  • Seneca Dragon Claw: A versatile rifle, available in .50 caliber, suitable for deer hunting and also capable of shooting arrows, according to Outdoor Life.

N/A  New pcp air rifle.

That's a super bummer...way to much money to be having leaks so early on. How is their customer service?
Yea definitely a bummer, a huge inconvenience. I haven't reached out to rti directly, just the dealer. He said its possibly the valve i think. I need to call back again and see how it will be handled.
