First day with slugs!

1) Excellent work! You had quite the day!

2) Something about shooting lighter weight slugs super fast just WORKS when it comes to hunting. I’m shooting 31gr at 970-975fps right now now and it’s instant kill too. How did they sound when they hit?

3) Looks like there’s a real pest problem at this property you were at. Zan slugs aren’t cheap either so if you need someone to share the burden with you just let me know. I know a guy 😂😂😂😂

H&N HP2 slugs

930-1000fps is fantastic for these slugs, have not tried the 28gr, but the rest of them yes.
I tried the 28's, The fx .25 1:16 liner just didn't like any 28gr slug aside from the Mk2 zans. The Hp2 30-32 were perfect. 860-952, Couldn't get higher than that using my dreamline tac ( with a little work)

JUST A HEADS UP! Stable, Sturdy TRIPOD SALE!!!

They have $10 Arca mlok rails https://www.amazon.com/Adapter-Compatiable-Arca-Swiss-Dovetail-Ballhead/dp/B0C1RYKJPB

Since the 8kg NatGeo one is out of stock I got this $56 15kg ~36mm ballhead arca 71" tripod https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B63VTW46

I think the NatGeo is a 24mm ballhead if it's 8kg. There's some $30 45mm ballheads but they don't have a 'damping' screw.

Used this $35 saddle clamp https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BZPNLHVN

Some bungee cord system or something to secure rifle onto saddle in case the head slips and slam tilts would be nice as a stopgap until there's best known methods of adding permanent mounts on each type of rifle.

Thank you bro I appreciate that. I have a clamp on my tripod now and it’s actually pretty secure but it always wants to grip it at a cant since my gun isn’t flat on the bottom… I’ve been looking around online at this stuff but I’ve been trying to hear from other airgunners on which specific models they actually use and like. Haha don’t wanna buy a 3rd time on this since after the clamp this is already number 2 haha

Mike:
Thank you for taking an interest in this. I think I figured it out. The cocking arm was not going into full battery. I didn't realize this. I did do the suggestions Skout suggested. Skout was thinking micro contact was not engaging when pulling the trigger. While staring at the rifle, is when I found this. There is a tiny screw that worked itself loose and was blocking the travel of the arm. Once tighten the cocking arm went fully in. Tried the rifle with no air in match mode and it didn't give an error cocking, and pulling the trigger. If I pulled the trigger twice with out cocking, I got a fire fault error. So at the next national 50, I will be trying it. Hopefully this solves this issue.
Fantastic..i hope the issue is solved

Events  Some thoughts for match directors or clubs trying to Grow Field Target

Field Target not only improves your marksmanship, it also can provide your social life. It can add a whole new list of friends and places you will want to visit.
Point?

Since i live in the Deep South of Mobile, Alabama, i was reminded of WHY i like field target sooooo much:

#1) The people are great, very helpful and It is a very social activity to share with like minded peeps.

#2) A chance to go places one might not otherwise visit.

#3) The challenge of shooting at unknown targets, at unknown distances on unknown courses is really a kicker for me.

Concerning #1)

I think it is very important, esp in summer, to remember just HOW important the socialization that takes place at field target events is.
If we start a match early in the morning, while it is still somewhat cooler, people will be ready to help set up and they will be much more ready to help break down and restore things after a match.
And then they will tend gather in the early afternoons / evenings for food and drink and stories galore.
But, if you take those same people and start a match late, especially in the heat of summer, by the end of the day, they are all toast, they are tired, grumpy, they want a shower, an air conditioned space and rest... especially if they have more days of competition ahead of them.
#2) plays into #1) because, based on where your venue is, you might have to adjust the dates and times to accommodate these environmental factors.
#3) means an existing venue has a huge challenge of keeping things new and fresh. Not as easy as it seems, and my hats off to all those match directors and clubs that work so hard to do this!
Don't be afraid to get creative, and throw something new or different into the target mix... it doesn't have to count for the overall course score.... but it may just count for a lot of laughs and some bragging rights at the social events that follow.

And don't forget we need young people who will grow into older FT shooters! less the sport should die...

Daystate  How to Take A BLACK WOLF Shroud Off? (SOLVED)

There are 2 small screws at the base of the shroud but they are very tight. Someone else told me just grab the shround and twist, no allen screw removal necessary, but that agian is very tight and does not seem to want to budge. The manual does not address shroud removal.

How do you remove the Daystate BLACK WOLF shroud?

What springer did you shoot today?

Do you have the original spring? I tried the 13.4 and they were in the 700-750 fps range so I just dismissed them as too heavy.
No I have the Vortek PG4 tune up kit. Even with the original spring you use, nothing wrong with your fps, that is close enough...the .177 Monster Diablo has great knockdown power.....as well as good trajectory. Better than going to .22's loop trajectory at distance. A great option! I sort them to 10gr +/- 13.43gr. World of difference.

Brocock/BRK  Can moisture in a PCP affect accuracy?

The back story.

I am a newbie to PCP guns. My first one is a Ghost with a Hawke Airmax 30 WA SF scope I have had for a couple months. I am not a serious shooter, rather a backyard duffer/plinker.

My Ghost was grouping pellets like I was a pro shooter for about three tins of pellets. Then one day my groups moved about 1" left and 1" low. Consistently. So I zeroed the scope again and all was good for 50~60 pellets. I was still grouping good but would get a stray every five or six pellets. The stray would be 2" or so off the group. One day my first pellet was 6" low! Later I dry fired the Ghost not realizing my mag was empty. A large puff of vapor came out of the barrel. I am guessing vapor as it looked like thin smoke.

I fill the Ghost using a GX cs4i in my air conditioned shop. Thinking the drier air in the A/C would be good enough without a separate moisture filter. That thinking was apparently wrong.

When I bought into PCP I had planned on using nitrogen to feed the compressor. I modded the compressor so it would accept my nitrogen tank/regulator or use the compressor like it was designed. I did this for when I was filling the Ghost outside in my humid Florida environment. So I emptied the Ghost and refilled it using nitrogen yesterday evening. Went out this afternoon and shot about fifty pellets. Every five shot group was back to what it was when I first got the Ghost. The POI did not move back but tight groups and no strays.

So, for you experienced shooters, was moisture causing my bad groups?
Moisture corodes your regulator parts. So you reg will not work right for long if you use moist air. Your gun may also blow up in 10 years from rust in the tank.

Airgun Technologies  Uragan 3 coming....

Nice setup. Which reticle, MML? I have one on my Cricket compact and it's an awesome pairing.

How much do those scope cost in Europe nowadays? They're super expensive if you can even find one in the states. Very few importers due to the tariffs.

Daystate  Does my .177 Daystate Delta Wolf shoot over 800 FPS?

This came tuned to shoot 10.3 gr .177 well, but then I wanted to shoot 16.2 and it only has 13.4, 15.89. and 8.4 to choose from. When I try to program 13.4 it won't select over 800 FPS and when I select 15.89gr (16.2?) it won't select over 700 FPS.

Does this not have the ability to push a 16.2 JSB pellet? Do I need to get into some advanced sort of tune/settings?

there are work around methods... for example tell it you are shooting .22 and select the lightest pellet from the factory menu and see how it shoots.

Parallax Wheel

@Racer88 - the best way to understand the wheels is to attend a field target match. We use the scope in a way they were never intended to be used. We use the parallax feature to determine the actual distance to a target from 10-55 yards. This requires a wheel which is large enough to tape and mark or "calibrate" to a users individual eyes on a pre-set course of objects to focus on. By the 1/2 yard is preferable from 10-20 yards then by the yard thereafter. Once a user has marked their wheel on a "known" distances range, they can go to an unknown range and determine pretty darn close if a target is 10 yards or 10.5 yards away and if your off.... you WILL miss. At 16X power or HFT we are limited to 16X magnification so after 35 yards on all scopes there is a lot of educated guessing going on. hope this explanatiion helps.

Perfect explanation. Thanks. I will not likely ever attend any competitions. I've tried a few (along with my daughter) in the PB world and did NOT like the vibe. A bunch of jerks, really. Old farts (and I'm close to being an "old fart" myself) obsessed with rules and zero desire to help newbies. I'll just leave it at that. No competitions for me. I'll just "compete" against myself and enjoy shooting just for the relaxation benefits of shooting.

Daystate  Does my .177 Daystate Delta Wolf shoot over 800 FPS?

On my .177 fac 700mm I shoot 16.2g jsb beast at 120bar. Ive made a factory set that allow adjustment from 700-1050fps
With your shorter barrel it should be possible at 150bar.
Problem is that the factory set that comes with your rifle doesnt allow it. You have to make a new factory set
OK. Thank you! Now I just have to hire someone off Craigslit to do that for me as I never learned to read (or count). And also my brain is all jacked up. I can't really do anything complicted anymore. Thank God for CL!
