Just got my Airmarksman Ace slugs

Mine came in this week as well so I raced out and did a quick test last night as it was getting dark
comparing them to my go to Altaros King 40gr slugs, it was getting dark and I was rushing last minute so
when chronographing with the FX true ballistics both strings where shot as weighing 40gr in the chronograph and with a G1 profile.
Shot the Altaros first to settle the reg and warm up the rifle, again groups where shot rapidly in the fading light but are there to serve as a reference

For Reference the rifle will shoot the altaros extremely well and it appears the air marksman have potential but while I plan to do much more thorough tests for reference I don't see anything to make me switch from the altaros at this time. Certainly not the supposed game changing higher BC's than any other slug on the market but the final verdict is still out.

For reference in good lighting here is how the lataros group out of the panthera:

The Real Science of Airgun Suppressor Selection

The absolute best sound suppression you can achieve comes from an airgun that has both a shroud and a moderator, provided it has been tuned to use air properly. IMO. I'm not a big fan of BIG cans hanging from my barrel and they do cause a POI drop. I prefer the Svelte sleek nature of the Weihrauchs and Huggetts and Zero DB's. Of course reducing the diameter of a moderator means you need to maintain moderator air volume by adding more length; to me this is why a shroud really works well as the length can be kept minimal.
in the picture take notice of the silicone washer placed between the shroud and the Zero DB moderator; i'll let your tech team figure out WHY this is a good thing. I highly Recommend Donny FL offer special made washers / spacers to go between the moderator adapter and or shroud and the moderator.
What do the washers/ spacers do? Deaden sound further? Affect POI drop or grouping size?

Thoughts on buying used?

I don’t think they actually do any of that, plenty have attested to that, it couldn’t have been done after receiving a broken rifle.
All the times I have bought guns from them they included a certificate stating that it was done, guns all worked properly and held pressure, so I am going to believe them versus some random posts online.
It's not to say that even after the inspection is done, the gun can't depressurize or not function correctly, but very least when you call customer service the phone call goes different, because they checked it prior to shipping

Events  Looking at getting into benchrest

One good thing is I can shoot at my house. I have a shooting bench in my garage.. I open the window and have 100 yd range.. I’d just like to get some experience at a live competition.
Me too I shoot out of my garage a I've got 85yrds. I'd love to find some people who would all shoot in real time and upload on tube or something like that. I'm not very savvy in what would be the best way to do it.... I think it would be fun. I'm from Nebraska and Noone shoots air guns..

The Real Science of Airgun Suppressor Selection

I fully support your plan to provide a selection guide.
Also would like your perspectives on how important it is to tailor the moderator to the caliber of the pellet, e.g., can a moderator designed for .25 caliber be nearly as effective as a smaller diameter moderator for .177 pellets?
And why not offer a moderator that extends back along the shroud as well as beyond the muzzle.

Regarding prioritization of your criteria... to me, I look for maximum quieting without disrupting group size. I don't mind POI drop as long as group sizes don't widen. And all else equal, I prefer a lower longer tone versus a higher frequency noise with any sort of crack.

As far as testing, I did a lot of comparisons of moderators on my Daystate Pulsar. But I also looked at sound measuring devices. I found that examining the time/intensity plot from a decibel recorder (like a Microtrack) gave guidance more in line with my ear than a simple sound meter that shows the max decibels (e.g., BAFX). The Pulasr with no moderator was fairly quiet. With a Falx it was whisper quiet at my shooter's ear. The decibel recorder showed a significant difference with vs without the moderator. But the simple max decibel meter only showed 1 dB quieter with the moderator; perhaps it was more sensitive to the action noise.

Postal Service Woes, Lost Barrel

USPS is terrible. I ordered some orings. Delivery day tracking said undelivered as there was no access to delivery location (whatever)…..go out and lo and behold it’s actually there. To this day the tracking info says not delivered. I could be a 🐓 and claim I never received it but I don’t do that.

What springer did you shoot today?

Fantastic day for E. Texas mid August. Cloudy and high about 88. Shot the little HW35 a bit more. Weather report showed some areas not far from us getting heavy rain over 3 inches, We did not get enough to wet my bald head, just a few drops on the way home from grocery store, not enough to turn on windshield wiperss. We need rain now, but at least the cool day was a relief.
