What are your thoughts on lead exposure?

As a kid one of our biggest fears was getting stuck with a pencil and getting lead poisoning. I think it was just a scare tactic to keep little boys from messing with little girls.
I mean, if pencil lead was such a hazard why would they allow it in elementary schools.... and still do today?

Air Venturi  Avenge X with no Oomph?

Thank you for the reply gents. Gauges swapped out- I used them on my compressor to check that they are functioning normally, and both are fine. There must be an internal blockage able to hold back all that pressure from even reaching as far as the gauges/reg/valve assembly

Drain and disassemble fully and start looking for obvious issues.

Pure Lead: The Unspoken Advantage in Airgun Slugs

hi this thread is saying other manufactures not using pure lead for slugs , my question is why would they add tin , lead is $3 a pound and tin is $28 a pound so would it be less profit for slug manufactures to run tin in air gun slugs? , we know with powder burners you need to run tin to harden slugs as if they moving say 2000fps they would deform in flight , so we discussing airgun slugs sub sonic , and not pellets as sift skirts bend easily , so thats my question making slugs harder would cost alot more to make , I understand if you cast you can quench but we only discussing swaging let me know please
Hi, what does "sift", just want understand.

Airmaks?

Would love to know that myself.

I did email Chris @ CDR in the UK (he does a lot of the vendor management), and he definitely seemed like they wanted to expand their footprint here in the US but our conversation trailed off after like 2 emails, so not sure what's going on there.

And still, their rifles are very hard to find, PARTICULARLY in .177...

Other  Gentle Shot Cycle

I do like the RW looks, from doing some research they seem to shoot well, of course the Alpha/Delta also seem to shoot lights out too!
One thing about bullpups - you will hear more (action) at the ear compared to a traditional long stock which takes the action forward of your ears a bit.

The Real Science of Airgun Suppressor Selection

I fully support your plan to provide a selection guide.
Also would like your perspectives on how important it is to tailor the moderator to the caliber of the pellet, e.g., can a moderator designed for .25 caliber be nearly as effective as a smaller diameter moderator for .177 pellets?
And why not offer a moderator that extends back along the shroud as well as beyond the muzzle.

Regarding prioritization of your criteria... to me, I look for maximum quieting without disrupting group size. I don't mind POI drop as long as group sizes don't widen. And all else equal, I prefer a lower longer tone versus a higher frequency noise with any sort of crack.

As far as testing, I did a lot of comparisons of moderators on my Daystate Pulsar. But I also looked at sound measuring devices. I found that examining the time/intensity plot from a decibel recorder (like a Microtrack) gave guidance more in line with my ear than a simple sound meter that shows the max decibels (e.g., BAFX). The Pulasr with no moderator was fairly quiet. With a Falx it was whisper quiet at my shooter's ear. The decibel recorder showed a significant difference with vs without the moderator. But the simple max decibel meter only showed 1 dB quieter with the moderator; perhaps it was more sensitive to the action noise.

"And why not offer a moderator that extends back along the shroud as well as beyond the muzzle"
Some manufacturers do (RAW) for example has their big ol Donkey D..ks. Alan Zasadny makes some amazing shroud type moderators. Daystate and Brockock shrouds def make a difference esp when combined with a moderator. I am interested as to why no one installs thousands of pin holes within a shrouded system to further dissipate air volume existing the muzzle end. dunno?

Me vs. My Cat -- pt. Two

Well,... last nights total,....
Four Rats and one Mouse. It was a busy evening.

This is a pair of images, screen captures, from last night, and are from the same single 10min file.

The Rat started the file. Then, at around 6 minutes into the file came critter two, an Owl

Me vs. My Owl

The video starts with the Rat.
At apprx. 21sec, the Owl appears from the left. It immediately bags a beetle-like insect, eats it, then looks around, and then flies off. It missed the Rat by mere seconds. There were no pauses or breaks in the vid timeline.

The Real Science of Airgun Suppressor Selection

What do the washers/ spacers do? Deaden sound further? Affect POI drop or grouping size?
At the end of a barrel, in-between an attached moderator, we have a hard interface between two (separate) surfaces coming together and attaching via threading forcing a mating between two flat surfaces. This juncture point creates an opportunity to mitigate some vibrational transmission or whip (some call harmonics). The use of Silicone washers, felt washers, leather washers etc... all can help to slow down, dampen or absorb some of this transmission.
In my "very unscientific tests" from my bench on no wind days, the use of a soft spacer like silicone, reduced my group sizes ever so slightly. Hard washers not so much, no washers not at all.
Another interesting trick to catch or dampen vibrational whip along a barrel is the use of thick, yet snug, O-rings placed at 1/2 the distance from the barrel to the breech, then 1/2 the distance from the middle of the barrel to the muzzle. Perhaps a silly trick but it is something we learned how to do when we were making linear / directional shape charges with high explosives. Most shooter (except indoors on a bench) will not see the difference.
Tennis players may be aware of a similar trick used on their high end rackets which helps to minimize injuries from tennis elbow.

Dual cylinder compressor - my review

Just want to share my two cents on this subject.
I had smaller shoebox vevor compressor for over 2 years now and it's been working fine, good little thing, hundreds of fills still running strong.
My only issue with the little guy was time, filling 4x580xx bottles is long, since I had good experience with vevor so far I searched what they had to offer and found this big boy, dual cylinder one.
After looking at the other brands of same design, they all looked same to me, I check in to details of the build, zoomed in to photos and they seem same exact thing down to every tube bend, fittings, shape, controls, has to be same company.

So I ordered the VEVOR one few months back, yes it's little big but boy is it fast, 580CC FX bottle from 100BAR to 250 BAR 2 min 50 seconds, you got to be kidding me.

My full review is here if anyone is interested

Just got my Airmarksman Ace slugs

Thanks for posting.. Seems like the BC is identical to the Altaros which would make sense as they weigh and look almost identical.

Looks like the spread was much different though. I wonder if thats due to the uniformity issue as some f the pictures above illustrated.

Let us know when you get some more testing. I also shoot the Altaros 40g at 910 FPS. The much higher advertised BC of these slugs peaked my interest but I was skeptical. I asked them a few days ago what velocity this BC was calculated at but they have not responded.
