FX  FX Maverick - loose barrel

Last evening when I picked up my 0.30 FX Maverick by the barrel it came out of the gun, WTF!!! The barrel slides easily in and out! There is a set screw near where the magazine goes but it does absolutely nothing. How is it possible to have a gun with no way to secure the barrel in place? What am I missing here?
Something is wrong. Obviously wrong. The set screw holds the brass barrel tube adapter in place. When correct it holds well enough you can tension with a shroud spacer.

Look to see why the set screw isn't doing set screw things?

Daystate  New Daystate Alphawolf Owner With Some Questions

I just ignore the regulator pressure, when in factory mode the gun automatically adapts the voltage and dwell time to keep pellet speed consistent. It's a new gun and I didn't touch the regulator knob yet, I just left it at factory setting. I might experiment with it a little more in the near future. But I can keep on shooting at 860 fps until +/- 120 bar. Essentially the gun becomes an unregulated gun in this way, but with automatic hamer/dwell time adjustment to keep speed steady.

after rereading and rethinking my post it’s maybe not the best idea to have the regulator that high. I had some spare time and lowered the reg from 190 to 140. At first view accuracy is still the same but the ES seems better. And the slow first shot seems gone. So I guess it's a keeper like this.

Air Venturi  Avenge X with no Oomph?

Thank you for the reply gents. Gauges swapped out- I used them on my compressor to check that they are functioning normally, and both are fine. There must be an internal blockage able to hold back all that pressure from even reaching as far as the gauges/reg/valve assembly.
Which is why i was terribly insistent on checking them off gun. Now port obstruction testing with monofilament or a guitar string (radius the end of it) will probably help you find the blockage.

Issue with GX Pump Air Filter

Good point! I was filling my Huben K1 after replacing a few 0-rings, so it was empty. Of course, it doesn't have a conventional valve, so I'm not sure it would have made a difference with it, but I can see where it could help with more conventional airguns!
Unfortunately, it will only help if it lets out a bit of a "dump" of air, as in much more than the compressor puts out at a normal rate. If the regulator is really precise in terms of what it passes, the flow rate at output won't be any higher than the flow rate of the compressor - and if to an empty gun, after the air leaves the filter at high pressure, it will immediately flash to the low pressure of the line to the gun which will also be at zero.

I expect it won't really help in this situation - a tank, even a small one, would do much better to help with this particular problem.

WRABF World Cup Finland 2025

The WRABF World Cup Airgun Competition has ended. Unfortunately, the Iranian team was not present in the competition due to the lack of visas. This was a very sad matter, but I personally followed the competition until the last moments through communication with my friends in the range.
Yesterday was the 50m Unlimited competition, for which our team was very prepared, I expected much higher results from our competitors, especially the US team.
The Italian team, although they were not present with all their members, have always been a surprise at the WRABF competitions. A month ago, when I talked to Giovanni about whether you are shooting with the Thomas rifle this year, he was not satisfied with the results obtained with the slug! As a result, he was thinking of a replacement rifle! But the Panthera they used yesterday was not a factory rifle and was used in the competition field with optimizations on it, the details of which I do not know in completely.
Mike did not perform well in the third card, although I expected more from him and the American team in the first and second cards. There must have been reasons that Mike will explain.
I hope to have the opportunity to compete with my friends again in the 2027 World Championship. Here are some of my teammates' training that they did on the 50m practice day during the world cup 2025 in windy conditions.

Compressor Safety

John, I see you do not have many posts on AGN since 2020 when you joined. As you can see, we like to chide each other from time to time, all in fun.

Seriously, you might call AoA, Air Tanks Plus, or some Dive Shops and ask their service department what they recommend, if anything. I'm guessing most don't wear anything, not that this makes it right. I think AoA ( Airguns of Arizona ) works on repairing compressors for their customers, so that would be my first call.

I think the use of wearing safety glasses and using one way valves, air pressure gauges, double checking adapter fittings for proper fit; all of which add some level of comfort to working on your compressor fills.
Thank you for your advice. Your comment is much appreciated. I’m trying to post more but I mostly review posts and instructional info.

What did you order / receive airgun related today? Thread

Matter of fact, I just traded e-mails with Troy and he told me he just got done adding several new mags to his website.
Looking at his mags - quite appealing! Zombie Green strikes my fancy, just wondering if the interior is "not black". I'll find out when I get around to ordering them.. The two mags from Amazon worked fine, just not enough air in my gun )(G)..

What Paper Target Did You Shoot Today

Decided to test 33.95 gr FX pellets today. They shoot dang near identically to the 25.39 pellets after adjusting my transfer port. However, something seems to have broken as on the last 5 shots (I thought I felt something on my second shot), the rifle won’t fire when depressing the trigger. A couple of times it fired when I pressed the trigger forward, another couple after I push the trigger forward then depressed it again.

FX Crown MK2
FX 33.95 .25 pellets

*Identified that something in the safety mechanism is not operating correctly. I can now fire the rifle with the safety engaged. Time to tear it apart...*

FX  $2500 airgun

I had the urge to compete, and still do, but it did not take long to discover that I needed to compete with myself and become satisfied with the results before heading to a competition and humiating myself. I am still a long way from being consitant enough to compete with others. But thats just me.
Please don't be discouraged and not "compete" by the belief you will be humiliated. Far from it. I really enjoy shooting with the new shooters. I'm sure everyone who has competed in some form of an air gun discipline will have a story of their scores at their first few matches.
The best place to learn to improve your scores is to shoot with others who have experience. The vast majority of experienced shooters are very willing to share their knowledge and experiences with the new shooters. Get out there and meet some folks who have the same interests and your scores will go up faster than trying to figure everything out on your own.

Youtube channel critique ideas

Most airgun reviews are shallow glossies where the youtube content creator reads off the manufacturer's propaganda, reminds you to "like and subscribe" then shoots a couple of poopty groups, claiming how fantastic the gun is while making excuses for the results.

It should be easy to do better - unless you are just trying to get rich quick off of youtube. In that case, you have a lot of competition.

A proper review takes a lot of time to break in the gun and get to know it's idiosyncrasies.

My biggest pet peeve is the reviewers who "test" a gun in windy conditions and expect you to believe that the hits all over the target are not the guns/pellets/shooter's fault.

I can read the manufacturer's sales literature myself. A review should cover things like ergonomics, operation and performance. Some baselines (velocities for different weight pellets) are useful.

The questions I have when reviewing targets that were shot are...
- Was the barrel cleaned?
- Is the gun broken in?
- Distance to target?
- Was the target realistic or "cherry-picked" from a bunch of poor ones?
- Pellet brand/weight tested that shot well.
- Pellet brand/weight tested that shot poorly.
- Were the pellets sorted?
- Was the group shot from a magazine or single loaded?
- Was a proper rest used?

Missing this kinda information casts a lot of shade on the results. And I often wonder at the skill and qualifications of the shooter. 🙂

If you really want to write good quality reviews, please keep in mind that are competing with AI created bullcrap videos that youtube is is being flooded with.

Probably the most difficult thing about writing reviews is dealing with suspicious old guys like me! 😁

Good luck!
I am definitely going to incorporate a lot of this. I am like you. I am making this because a lot of the stuff you see on these reviews, I cant tell if this was really shot at 50 or hundred yards. Also, I don't know if you cherry picked rounds. I want it to be as real world as possible. Like (when possible) you should be able to see me open the tin for the first time, load a mag, and go. Because almost no real world situation are most people hand loading every shot. I was thinking of adding a few other shot angles, like maybe a drone shot to show distance, and maybe set up a go pro near the target so you don't have to see my shakey cocking lol. But thanks so much for the input.

FX  Beginner with FX Impact M4 Extended

Hello all,

My name is Dutch from The Netherlands.

After a long time thinking I have decided to invest in a proper airgun: FX Impact M4 Extended.

I've went through a process of examening what I was looking for in an airgun and think that it can all be found in the Impact M4. It is modulair, can be tuned quick easily with proper understanding and without changing the riffle itself and is highly accurate. The last thing is very important to me because I would like to gain more experience when it comes down to high precision and long distance shooting.

Because I am a beginner to PCP air rifles (I used to shoot break-barrel) I am wondering if you people over here, have some tips before actively using the M4.

I did some research, but I would like to hear from people who gained practical experience.

So, first of all: did I made a good choice regarding I am a starter in the PCP world? What are the do's and dont's? Please consider the fact that I am a beginner and have NO experience with tuning at all. Definitly willing to learn, but step-by-step.

Looking forward to your replies.

Kind regards,
Dutch.

PS. I am Dutch; If the above text is not as clear as I think it is, please let me know. Don't be to hard on me. ;)

Redlight hunting but no Coyote tonight

Can't hunt at night with thermal or infrared in Arizona so gotta use a redlight. Definitely gonna need a brighter red light but tonight wouldn't have made a difference. Saw a ton of tracks in this area 2 days ago but nothing last night, all I saw was a cow and her calf and a rabbit. Got out there at 2:30 am and nothin all night :-(

FX  $2500 airgun

I feel like I need an impact cuz it’s the ruger 10/22 of airguns.. I feel like everyone in this game needs an impact.

Yet the red panda looks so sweet and their winning competitions lately.

Next would be the evo and the alpha wolf. I wish I could spend $12000 and get them all!!
I think the Crown would be more of the 10/22 of airguns. Nothing against the impact, just a lot of things to fiddle with on it. My old 10/22 was just load it and shoot it.
