Epic  Epic 2 flaw

OK, so I've looked where you indicated and found the hole. Not really understanding what is the issue when looking at the schematic. Attached you will find the .pdf and I am looking at parts #27, #29, & # 16 with part #27 being the offending unit. Is this correct? I want to address this potential issue before it causes me grief. Thanks in advance.

Daystate  New Daystate Delta Wolf, erratic velocity with advanced setting

Barrel has just over 500 shots since purchased so I hadn’t thought to clean it. Chrony was cleaned just before taking the shots in the pic. As soon as I get a chance I will weigh and head size some pellets and retest with them. Thanks for the ideas.

N/A  First PCP - need advice (Notos vs Stoeger Scout)

Hey all, been lurking for a while here and [I think] I am ready to start dropping cash into this alleged money pit.

I’ve had a cheap .177 springer in the past that was silly quiet. Could hunt the backyard all day and you only knew I was there when a stray pellet whacked wood. I picked up a “gamo gen3i swarm whisper fusion 10x” ~2 months ago and right off the bat, that sucker was LOUD. (I know I know, how could be such a fool and waste my money on Gamo?? Thankfully Bass Pro has a great return policy).

I’m looking to upgrade into the PCP world (already bought a cheap compressor from others recommendations).

Sound: by far the biggest concern for me. I’d prefer to have the neighbors have no clue I’m out there.
Range: realistically fairly close but I do appreciate flexibility in case I go hunting in the woods in the future.
Price: All told, I’m looking to spend under $600 between gun, scope, and other pertinent accessories.

I’ve narrowed it down to the Umarex Notos and the Stoeger Scout.
- Stoeger Scout: leaning towards this as it looks like it’ll pack more of a punch but it seems it’s loud out of the box. I have limited experience with AR builds so I’m not too keen on going to town with modifying off the bat. I’ve seen some thoughts of putting a moderator on but I cant make heads or tails of which to actually pick…
- Notos seems like a great fit but I’ve seen quite a few concerns about the small tank. I know I’ve heard “don’t get overly fixated on how much power they can pack” but hey, I’m human afterall

Any advice appreciated!

FX  FX M4 Slug liner?

The liner is easy to swap with a 10mm end wrench. What caliber did you get? I have 22 700mm m3, and if you want to do a weak rimfire but shoot long range slugs are cool. The issue is how much of a pain and near full teardown an impact is to change the hammer weight. Once you go tungsten you're stuck with high power.

Will you want to ever shoot pellets with it? Mine can only shoot heavy pellets with the heavy liner. Anything light spirals off into the next state, but this is 22.
to answer your question. MY m4 is in .30 cal

What springer did you shoot today?

What are those, John? I'm not familiar? They're rather unique with that stock design. Is that steel muzzlebrake original?
Mike Melnick tuned XS25SFB in .22 the muzzle break is stock. MM tuned XS25 177 in bamboo stock

USA made Crosman Destroyers?

Its rare anything around here lets you get that close. Snake ? Turtle maybe. Things are pretty skidish.
I can sit pretty still and the chipmunks are plentiful. On a really good day, I've been able to get 4 - 5 in a couple hours.

Of course once they start digging into the peanut butter bait, I've got a few extra seconds of them holding still.

Best grease for GX CS2 et al gear box

I wouldn't go exotic, it's a gear drive, a design old as dirt. Keep it lubed and it's golden. I've not tried cv grease as it's made for a completely different animal. Not saying it won't work, just that that's not what it's made for.

I'm sorry, I misspoke, you can find it on ebay
Just search "chevron open gear grease"

One tube ought to lube about 50 compressors!

FX  Tuning an fx impact mk2 22

The simple answer is
1)pick a pellet or slug
2)hammer all the way down, hammer buffer open all the way
3)reg low 75-80 bar
4) increase hammer til velocity levels off
5)if you're good w/ vel back off hammer til 3-5% below max and you're done
6) not high enough? Up reg 5 bar lower the hammer and work up to max.

Repeat til you get the vel you want and have fun
There's some more tweaking but this will get you going

Need a barrel OD ground

It’s going to be tough to find a shop to grind it properly and or not mess it up. Properly meaning the right machine to do the job. Crosman, Daystate ect do have custom center less grinders for this. A lathe grinding attachment can do it but would definitely still need a good follower on the opposing side of the wheel.
My mind goes to an engine rebuilding machine shop that can grind cranks and cams.

FWB  Feinwerkbau 800X air rifle cylinder

Basically. The rifle had been left in a garage for several years. I aired the rifle up and it lasted about three shots and just dumped air.

This was a p70. Not sure on the age of you 800 but the p70 ended up needing a full reseal. The reg seals and plenum seals had also perished. Fortunately I was able to rebuild it myself.

FX  FX M4 Slug liner?

If you're looking at reaching out past 100 yards, then slugs and a slug liner is the way to go. Liner changes are easy and you'll always have a pellet liner should you wanna go back, or you could sell fairly easily.

600-700mm barrel is ideal for long range, get some decent slugs and have at it.

Just for nfo, I shoot 22 MRDs at 900fps, sometimes a bit faster out to just over 100yds, 30fpe @ 100 is probably enough to kill a lot of smaller stuff.
The hammer weight change is the worst of it. A liner change and probe change is a matter of minutes, which even surprised my shooting partner that thought it was surgery.

When all else fails

I enjoy both but there's something about a quality spring gun. If you want to just grab and go or sit on the porch and knock some spinners around it's hard to beat. Will they outshoot my FX Impact at 50+ yards...no, but still, it's extremely relaxing and satisfying to be able to consistently hit a one inch spinner with it, something not every shooter can do. It takes a lot more focus and attention to details like breathing, trigger pull and fallow through. Its a slower more methodical way to shoot, one pellet at a time, one shot one kill, and a tin of pellets lasts a lot longer lol. After a session with my springer shooting my PCP's become easier and my shooting techniques are better.

"Its a slower more methodical way to shoot, one pellet at a time, one shot one kill, and a tin of pellets lasts a lot longer lol." You're correct because that's where it started with me in 1983 and somewhere along the line, I was bit by (PCPs). I still have my TX200, HW97 both of which are .177, my trusty Beeman R10D in .20 caliber and my Beeman RX2 in .22 that I can always depend on. I also have a couple of Chinese clones that I have tucked away for hard times if the need arises. Somes times all that's needed is one shot if you're comfortable with your shot and your target at certain distances.

RTI  Prophet Performance P1 fill port

You guys are killing me with those Prophets. I've yet to find someone who isn't amazed at how they shoot. Some grips about growing pains as they came out with new models, but no gripes about accuracy.
I saw a LR barrel advertised and thought I'd buy it because a Prophet is hopefully my next rifle, but after seeing and talking to RPB barrel owners, I'm sold on them. A P3, some slugs and I'd be in heaven!
