new guy to airguns

Read the gun manual, and read the manual for the compressor. Filled the gun tube (reservoir?) 1,000 PSI at a time, watching the comp's temp gauge. Finished up at the recommended 3,000 PSI. Compressor and gun gauge match pretty close. Put a scope on it.
"Sniper". How can I go wrong with a name like that? 4 - 24 power, of course fuzzy around the edge at higher power but acceptable at 20X. $120.00. Thinking of the range tomorrow to sight in. New scope on my Ruger PCC in 9mm so sight that in too.
Life is good!!

When all else fails

There is something to be said of just needing an airgun (springer) and a tin of pellets to shoot.....👍
Ranchibi, it makes a huge difference in knowing that "a springer or spring piston airguns" is where things took root in my life as a man in 1983. When I'm up for the challenge, I'll grab one of my springers to see what I'm made of.

Dang it don’t make me blush when I’m trying to be butthurt 😂

And yeah I don’t care what people think I about my gun. I’m not that insecure.

What I don’t like is gatekeepers and people “yuking other people’s yummm.” This isn’t the cheapest hobby in the world and I think that kind of stuff makes it more inaccessible. Especially for the younger generations. So when a noob comes on here to learn about their new gun and see’s some middle aged or old dude (I’m middle aged haha calm down) that doesn’t really do a lot for the sport.

I want the sport to get even bigger than it is now. Why? Because more people means a bigger market and thus more products. More innovation, more mods… just more cool new stuff. I personally would love to see more kid sized PCP’s because I wanna start my daughters on airguns before I get them powder burners.
I asked in an open forum what gun I should get for my specific needs. About 2 pages of nutless giving no practical advice…then cantinaboy256 just lays out the truths. He was right about the airgun advice. I can’t keep up with his Tesla like paragraphs of explanations on machinining these guns to his needs. All I know is when cantaloupe256 speaks…just listen!

Air Venturi  AV Avenger Bullpup, Reg in the Red?

Update: I'd like to get some feedback before proceeding.
Air Venturi tech support was fast to reply. Their theory is that the regulator was originally set too close to it's maximum setting. They want me to reduce it's setting and that should clear it up.
I did think right from day 1 that it sitting just under 3000 from the factory seemed high but it held and was consistent till now.
I'm just wondering if any damage could be done? I'm not right to against the warranty so I guess it's worth a shot.

Any thoughts?

When did you turn the grease pot for the first time ?

When I first got my CS4 I turned the grease knob every 4-6 hours, as recommended in the initial blogs
I since have read that 6 hours is much too often and have backed off to every 10-12 hours
The machine currently has 70.9hours on it and has been (fingers crossed) trouble free.
At 70 hrs I cleaned out the burst disc area even though the dead head test was right on spec.

Over this time period I have filled 4 bottles (smallest 60 minute) from empty and now top them up as needed only when the relative humidity is low
I also fill guns.

I use the bottles when the RH is high and fill/refill when the RH is low

That's my story and I'm stickin to it

just my 2 psi
Edward

PS
FWIW
In my younger days I used to turn the grease pot alot

I was wondering,are the100yd. groups getting better

The PCP 100yd benchrest sport is young. Money is being made...sufficient to support dedicated BR rifles being manufactured and available to the public. It would follow that more money should equal climbing scores. I expect that perfect scores (250-25X) will happen. Last year a 238-10X won the Pyramid Cup. I think I saw that a 240 was shot by somebody this Spring. BTW, the current rules only allow commercially available diablo pellets, no slugs.

When perfection becomes commonplace, the sport will change. Whether that involves a tougher challenge or adding a limiting factor, remains to be seen. I expect a separate slug competition will happen soon. All it will take is prize money.

30-Yard Challenge

Great shooting - it's not the arrows, it's the .... .
Cheers,
Greg

Thanks Greg.

I "fixed" my .22 RTI Prophet today - the 0-ring in the foster fitting failed - once I knew the size I think I took 30 seconds to fix it - as I had taken the foster fitting apart once before.

I shot these two cards back-to-back - the wind conditions were excellent by my standards. Nothing for the leaderboard as I had shot a 198 11X 40-Masters with the Prophet on July 23rd. Actually, this is the first time I shot it since then... so back-to-back 198 11X 40-Masters... amazingly docile to shoot at 40+ ft/lbs.

Super happy with these 195+ 40-Masters cards. If you shoot our 40 challenges a lot, you know they don't some easy. I must have this Prophet tuned perfect with the MRDLs going 930fps.

If you think I always shoot 40 cards like this - earlier today I could not break 190 at 40-Masters with the Taipan and 18.3g AEAs - same rifle that I shot 200 16X at 30 yards the day before. The wind was up about 7-8mph and constantly switching directions... me and the Taipan were scratching our heads - we gave up after 2 cards, lol.

Best grease for GX CS2 et al gear box

Following but I don’t know why.
I have only one PCP: PRod
I have a CS with 1 hr 9 minutes of use.
The springers get more use.
You guys would know:
Could the CS2 fill a 18cu ft Guppy from 3000-4500?
Too much to ask from the little pumper, huh?
Your little pumper will fill any size bottle or tank, even 1 hr rated scba tanks. Consider how many times it has filled a 500cc bottle. The total volume it has pumped would fill a room full of SCBA tanks. Here's the caveat, you need to fill large bottles or tanks in incremental steps. Run it, rest and cool it. I used a variable timer. It has an on timer, and an off timer. Through monitoring the temperature I used 3 minutes run and 5 minutes off for filling a 65cf tank. I used 50°c as max heat and cool to 35°c
.remember to Crack the bleed valve every once in a while to purge the condensate. Keep the bottle or tank topped of as much as you can. A tank that is low on psi can take alot of time to get to 300bar. My first fill on a empty SCBA tank took hours. I got tired of messing with a tank and bought fill valves for my bottle guns . Got extra bottles that can be filled off gun and removed under pressure. Anyway, hope this helps. Bill and Addi.

Beeman  HW30s in 22cal is awsome

Charles, back in May I pre-ordered one in .20 cal, which will take ??? to be made and get to the USA. I hope it will be as good an experience as what you have found with your .177 units. So far, the Blue Streak is my favorite gun; it made me seek another .20 cal gun that doesn't need an external source of compressed air.

AEA  My AEA Bigbore Challenger Bullpup Chassis

I was finally able to measure the air tube which was 1.47 inches.
Yeah, as i thought. A much smaller tube. only 37mm or so. This means that the receiver is totally different. The side lever guns are just a different design.
I did make a really awesome chassis for the standard non-pullpup gun that might fit. I wonder if the bullpup can be converted to a non-bullpup.

PCP Rifle  NLA AAA Paradigm .30 for your...

I have a AAA Paradigm .30 that I bought from an AGN member a while back, so I am not the original owner. The gun has been used but is in very good shape on the stock and excellent condition on the working parts. I had Derrick Wall completely rebuild all the o-rings and he installed the externally adjustable regulator kit so the gun can be more easily tuned. I also had him tune the gun for me. He did some of his trigger magic and has it shooting 50g pellets at 908fps.

I am moving my "heavier" guns as it is more difficult for me to move them around now and taking them out for a walking hunt is out of the question. I find that I am taking the more compact bullpups out hunting as it is easier for me to get them around. With that in mind here's what I am looking for in trade (Cash + or - as needed):

- RTI Mora 500mm (Standard) barrel length - any caliber
- Epic One - 550mm or 700mm barrel - any caliber
- Edgun Leshiy 2 60mm barrel in 7.62 or 9mm
- Taipan Slash ,22 or .25 550mm barrel

I have a number of other high end guns already, but these I do not have so I am more inclined to trade for one of them. If you want to buy it outright, please PM me and we'll discuss. The scope, mounts, picatinny and arca rails are not included.

Don't know much about bench rest shooting but real world accuracy is pretty damn good, from my Vulcan 3 anyway.

Not quite 100 yards but a 90 yard headshot on a squirrel https://www.airgunnation.com/thread...ck-squirrel-another-one-for-the-stew.1316079/
and 85 yard headshot on a sparrow ftw! https://www.airgunnation.com/threads/head-shot-thread.1312648/page-9#post-1776694
