What's with the Slug Speed fetish lately?

I think that about sums it up. Additional factors: 1) Ted made a video getting his best accuracy at 1100fps, 2) The South African crew (often, but not always) showcases very hot slug tunes. One of them recently discovered the joys of light 21gr slugs so it has been nice to see that make it into the rotation.

Harsh shot cycle, low shot count, and extensive power mods don't appeal to me. You don't have to shoot over 1000fps to gain the benefits slugs offer vs pellets. 950fps vs 1050 fps is a ~50bar reg increase! I've personally been having fun seeing what I can get out of slugs in the 650fps range.
i used to shoot 17.5 gr nsa with notos at 740 with great results

Super helpful, thank you. Its not that different from a hammer-hits-valve gun in that regard. The "best" theoretical tune would be a crazy high reg pressure with just enough of a bang to open the valve. That would launch a pellet fast with not much air volume. The realities of spring forces, hammer power, and valve opening times means that it's just not practical to get good accuracy that way on most guns. The hammer force makes the gun jumpy and the valve dwell time and air released get too variable for consistent accuracy.

Notos aftermarket moderator options....

As a new Notos owner and new to AGN, I'm loving all this info that is out here for this model! Thanks to all of you for sharing!

Same boat. The information I have learned in this thread, as well as from a couple of DMs, has been terrific. Great group and I'm happy to be here.

Need help for a PCP

Well, I'm not going to panic and do something foolish but I do want to keep shooting pellet guns. If I have to go PCP to shoot I will, damn the cost.
Well... there are these....

and this...

There are codes to get 40 off one the gun and 10% off on the compressor. Both get good reviews by folks that actually paid for them and use them.

Well, you already put the PCP guns down once and it seems picking one back up might just be temporary until you get Mr. Itus back under control. If that were my situation I wouldn't go all in on an expensive gun when I can make the same little holes as the higher dollar with some thing much less expensive.
After all.. PCP guns have the same characteristics now that made you put them down before. I don't care who makes or much much you pay for a PCP, they all need some level of attention at some point. Orings don't last forever. I hear folks all the time talk about the quality of their guns and they use the same orings the cheap ones do. And that's typically where they all fail.
Just my opinion. Never have and never will pay more than $300 for an airgun. Now maybe if I depended on it for survival I might reconsider.

What springer did you shoot today?

“Dry as a popcorn fart.” Man could we use rain. Luckily I pump water out of lake to water garden.

Nice, Crow. Those 10M guns might be my favorite things to shoot. You nearsighted or farsighted? I’m near and love the diopters. What are you using in front sight?

Hornets nest

Duct tape all seems and your neck. It doesn't take a ton to block their weapon. Aerosol contact adhesive is also a hilarious way to handle them if you can hose them and the hole down, or the entirety of a paper nest. If it's in the dirt a pressure washer is the jammy. You can move enough air with the spray to keep them back. A leaf blower helps too. Just plan it out and you will be victorious.
I am going to have tape on the seams and actually three layers. Cardboard leather motorcycle crash suit and a plastic rain cover that is taped. I figure 1/2 inch thick. For my neck I’m going with a towel and then a trash bag inside my helmet and jacket filling the gap between my helmet and collar.

Make sure you have an epi—pen if you’re allergic to bee or wasp stings
My wife is allergic I am not. But she has an epi-pen. I have been stung twice by these guys . And I don’t want to get attacked while mowing the grass. It is very painful even one. A couple hundred could bring you down

Yes, that is a fact, not a feeling or supposition. BC is NOT a fad, and there is no downside.

There are and have been members on AGN that do not believe that a better BC means less wind drift for a given speed. They also have this misguided belief that the Earth is Flat, and that the Moon Missions never happened...
Wait what…moon missions never happened? I never got that memo!🤣
