PCP Rifle  SOLD FX Dream-Tact Compact/Carbon Fiber, .22 cal (#2)

For sale: FX Dream-Tact Compact/Carbon Fiber, .22 cal, $1050 shipped. Number two of a pair that we purchased new from Utah Airguns. Like new, packed in a Flambeau hard case. Included is an extra FX 300cc carbon fiber bottle to extend your remote shooting adventure, fill probe, three magazines, speedloader, a compact Donny Tatsu moderator and the owners manual. It has about three hundred rounds through it. It truly shoots like a dream, super accurate and with that smooth side lever cocking that had me imagining that I was shooting the FWB 300s I lusted for in my youth. Of course the Dream-Tact has a lot more punch and doesn't require the cool sled recoil reduction of the 300s.

Ships in the Flambeau hard case packed in the original Flambeau box, insured, signature required, CONUS only. A phone conversation with buyer is mandatory prior to purchase. $1050 via PayPal, shipping is included.

Quietest, and most accurate

I've been shooting and hunting all my life, but never with airguns. Do you advise starting with a simple break barrel rifle, or jumping right into PCP with all the related paraphernalia?

Main use would be for general plinking and target shooting, marksmanship training, perhaps some small pest control and light hunting. I'm not a competitive shooter, but accuracy is important and would like to be able to consistently achieve 1" groups at 30 - 50 yards with practice. I prefer classic looking rifles over the modern chassis/bullpup/AR styles. I also need back yard friendly noise levels, and this might be the most important thing. It needs to be as QUIET as possible. Cost isn't the biggest concern, but is a factor. I know break barrels are simpler and cheaper. But what is the quietest and most accurate without making a huge commitment?
My, by far, most quiet setup that fits your description as to what you like: Dreamline classic .22 with a mod. Doesn’t really matter which, even the empty FX can coming with the impact makes it dead silent. May also be due to the tune (meaning how quiet it is), it’s sitting at 100b shooting Hades at 900fps. If it would ever produce a 1 inch group at 50 yards I’d be mad :) all you hear is the hammer hitting the valve and then the pellet hitting the target.

Snowpeak  Max 1 Tube Threads

Picked up a .22 MAX1 but did not like how it felt with my hand on tube. Contacted BRAVO3D about his ZELOS forestock since I have the Zelos also and tubes are same size. Well ordered one and received today and I think it makes the rifle a lot easier to hold. What do you think ? I also am witing for someone to come up with a bottle conversion for the MAX1.

Pictures and Stories of our hunts with Springers/Gas-Ram Rifles.

I checked it on maps, and it's a clean little town(y)
You have Mount Graham and Mount Lemmon close by. Lovely, they are the place to be hunting and camping in.

You're welcome to share your adventures and hunts here anytime; it's a pleasure to have you Zeke.

Jake.
Where are you actually located?

MAC1 USFT Analysis/Overview

I feel like I've got @SAZs #95 Hunter ready to rock and roll. He had three barrels with it, and after fairly extensive testing, and some barrel work, the best of the three was a 12 land and groove. One of the three has flashes of absolute brilliance, but would occasionally throw a flyer. The third was generally "okay" but pretty ho hum.

So here is how the best of the three barrels does...

Left column is 10 shot groups, each at 30 yards. Right column is 10 shot groups @ 55 yards. The top right and middle right were just held dead in the middle, the bottom right was trying to adjust for wind. This is 16x and stool and sticks.
I believe the 10 ring is just shy of 0.5" and the 9 ring on these EBR style targets is 1.25."
Shooting quite good now.

Beeman  Beeman R-7 .20 cal rebuild….. results….?

That's 17.5 fpe for jsb and 18.6 fpe for the FTT. If I'm correct in thinking that gun has the same bore and stroke as a Hw95 that is a lot of power for that caliber and gun. That's R1 territory.

Hw95s in 20 caliber usually make ~16fpe with vortek kit and seal. I have three and done a few others. Either I'm wrong in thinking a R10 is the same B/S as a Hw95, your chronograph is off or your gun is dieseling.

That's too much power for a 20 cal Hw95 to make without dieseling
Dieseling , I don’t believe so. I have heard a dieseling gun before . I put a tin or 2 of pellets through it since the rebuild about 2 years ago. I moved and everything was a mess for awhile.
I’ve been working on some other Airguns recently. So I took it out of the case and shot this video. It’s only 2 shots but it’s close to what I had recorded back then. I have no knowledge of the r-9 I don’t have one …yet…lol
but I do believe it’s basically the same gun with the exception of the screw in block. I can tell you that the tube on my r-10 was like a mirror finish inside. It was manufactured in 1987. I’m the original owner. I did polish everything inside and used limited moly and Tom’s red goo on the spring sparingly. The other guns I have worked on so far have a cross check in the tubes like a cylinder block in an engine. Does that matter ..who now’s. These things are finicky for sure. I remember back in the day guys were getting over 900 fps from 124’s ….as for the chronograph… I couldn’t say. In not an engineer . I only shot through it and record the numbers.
it shore isn’t helping my r-7 at the moment…

MAC1 USFT Analysis/Overview

Great info Frank. Good to see a good old fashioned unregulated shot string again. I must say that I am enjoying the more compact version of the MAC 1. I also got done working/ tuning my bottle gun. Got it shooting between 17 and 17.5 FPE with an 18” barrel. I removed the internal regulator from the tube, which also increases the size of the plenum, and now just working off the ninja bottle regulator. It’s set to 1750 psi but is slow to replenish and is working around 1600. I would think it should fill back up quicker? I’ll work on it some more or try something new. Love working on this gun.

Well, around the Gila river you're not gonna die of thirst but it's pretty dry elsewhere around here. I was actually surprised when I moved out here that there are some large lakes less than 2 hours away but if you were on foot trying to reach that lake, yeah you'd probably not make it lol. Here's my little town of Kearny with the Gila River just south of it.

Everything talked about so far , are higher prices guns . One inch @ 30 yards is fairly easy . i do a lot less than that @ 30 yards ,1/4 inch and i shoot Springers , TX 200 12.25 FPE in .177 . Good for rabbits and Squirrel , Ground hog but iffy for Fox . Now for what you would spend for a TX200 ( $700 /$800 you could buy a PCP that could fill your needs ,. I am not going to suggest any (PCP )because i don't own any that do not cost in the 1k /2k + area .

EDIT im late again .

Stock in letting.

I think what technique will work for you has a lot to do with how patient you are. Before there were power tools magnificent furniture (and gunstocks) were made but it took a lot more time and patience. I do not have that kind of patience but I've made a bunch of furniture and a few gunstocks.

I would not attempt a gunstock without at least a plunge router. A router table is better at some things but, as has already been mentioned, if you have a router and a piece of MDF or smooth plywood, or a sink cutout you can make a router table quite easily. The OP seems to be struggling with the barrel channel (on an airgun it is really typically the shroud that fits into the channel). I get a router bit about the right diameter and use my router table. It's one of the easier aspects if you do it this way. Cutting all the areas out for the action to fit into and doing it accurately is harder in my opinion. A plunge router will work for this as will forstener bits on a drill press. I use my domino but that costs as much as a nice air rifle.

I would not try to use a washer as a scraper but maybe it will work better than I think. You could just buy a card scraper and use a grinder to make a scraper that will work. Or you could spend a few dollars on a router and bit and be done with it. People more patient than I am can get a lot done with slower working tools, however.
I believe he's free floating a synthetic stock. Which is where I would just shim the entire assembly in the stock to lift it and keep changes reversible. I've had guns that didn't like being free floated.... Mostly air guns.
