Stock in letting.

I think what technique will work for you has a lot to do with how patient you are. Before there were power tools magnificent furniture (and gunstocks) were made but it took a lot more time and patience. I do not have that kind of patience but I've made a bunch of furniture and a few gunstocks.

I would not attempt a gunstock without at least a plunge router. A router table is better at some things but, as has already been mentioned, if you have a router and a piece of MDF or smooth plywood, or a sink cutout you can make a router table quite easily. The OP seems to be struggling with the barrel channel (on an airgun it is really typically the shroud that fits into the channel). I get a router bit about the right diameter and use my router table. It's one of the easier aspects if you do it this way. Cutting all the areas out for the action to fit into and doing it accurately is harder in my opinion. A plunge router will work for this as will forstener bits on a drill press. I use my domino but that costs as much as a nice air rifle.

I would not try to use a washer as a scraper but maybe it will work better than I think. You could just buy a card scraper and use a grinder to make a scraper that will work. Or you could spend a few dollars on a router and bit and be done with it. People more patient than I am can get a lot done with slower working tools, however.
I believe he's free floating a synthetic stock. Which is where I would just shim the entire assembly in the stock to lift it and keep changes reversible. I've had guns that didn't like being free floated.... Mostly air guns.

Benjamin  Benjamin Bulldog

I believe the stock Bulldog is an unregulated airgun. It is set up to give you a few shots at high power. You could easily reduce the hammer spring tension reducing velocity and gaining shots but you'd have to try it and see how you like it. If you decrease the hammer spring too much the valve won't open so the velocity will be super low. So then you have to decrease the fill pressure and any gain in shots is reduced. If you can figure out how to restrict the transfer port it would help gain shots without making the velocity swings really high. If you really want a lower fpe airgun with more shots it may be more practical to go to a regulated gun.

Quietest, and most accurate

Thanks for all the advice! I appreciate it. Low budget is not my #1 priority, but I'm not quite ready to jump into a $1.5k - $3K gun up front either. Love the look of that Daystate Revere! Maybe someday... Did lots of research and ended up going the PCP route and ordering an Air Venturi Avenger with wood stock. Seems like a good compromise between cost and performance for a first gun. Now trying to figure out what to do for a compressor and a moderator.

new guy to airguns

Retired. Thinking about a pcp rifle. Have been using a Hatsan model 25 super charger pistol at the ranger. Its a tin can destroyer. Shooting at a 50 yard range with my 'powder' guns. So thinking about something inexpensive & hand pumpable to get my feet wet (G). Like it then I can go crazy and really annoy my wife of 52 years. "You don't need another gun.".
(a week late ) Welcome to the best A G N
As a First PCP i would suggest a Marauder , not complicated , realizable , sturdy , Hand pumpable ( i would suggest keep topping off the air say 20 or 25 shots , then pump .)
Stan in KY.

Tank failure, anyone? How many?

Firefighter for 25 yrs full time dept never had one blow . Anything is possible , they will start leaking at the neck or if the carbon fiber starts to delaminate .

Hey rayroz, thank you for your many years of service as a first responder!

Snowpeak  Max 1 Tube Threads

I went ahead and degassed my Max 1 to see what threads were used for the tube to gun.

Much to my surprise it appears to be m11x1.5 or m11x1.25. What a bizarre thread.
Definitely not M10 or M12

I was hoping the Zelos/M60 bottle adapter would work. But that is M16

Now the question is do I go custom?
Given proximity to the shroud the bottle adapter will need to be offset or angled.

That or leave the poor fun alone 😀

Crosman  1377 upgrades

I have been working on my 1377 over the past week trying to get it to shoot, the trigger was pretty heavy and creepy. I disassembled the gun and made all new pins for a more precise fit, polished the sear and trigger surfaces to a mirror finish and changed out the sear spring to a lighter one. I now have a trigger that breaks at 48 oz with no creep. Also changed out the breach to a longer one with a rail for a scope it came from AirGun Mods and looks to be very well made and solid. Also added a trigger shoe.
My past life was working on firearms for the past 40+ years, having retired and turning over the shop to my oldest son I can now play with other neat stuff.
I bought three cans of pellets two were Crosman Premier wad cutter and pointed and one can of Gamo pointed, out of all of them the Crosman Premeir pointed 7.6 grains worked the best for this test. My back yard range at this time is only 32 feet. Haven't tried for fps testing yet. I am using 5 pumps for now and am waiting for some 10g pellets if Amazon will ship.
I have been collection Crosman guns for a while and hope to get some of the others working as well
Anyhow that's my story.

One thing I haven't seen mentioned. Depending on the compressor you ordered, it may not be suitable for filling tanks, only guns. Some of the smaller compressors can use a car battery, or a 12v battery for use at the range, if you don't have power there.
I'll fill the gun first and see how many shots at the range. So much ti figure out. The compressor I bought also does 12v off the car's battery. Thinking a 3liter tank with applicable hoses/valve/etc would be real handy for the range and not too big to fill with the inexpensive compressor I bought. All this talk and dreams and I still haven't gotten the gun (G)!!

Resources  Bench rest lane set up.

As soon as I can get some help I am moving the whole benchrest set up I have to the wider lane.
This is what I have learned so far.
I need to have the bench on one side of the lane. Then line up the permanent targets with yardage markers and a spinner so you are shooting across the lane. With a narrow lane and everything lined up I can’t see all the targets.
Plus there is not much room setting up the other targets.

What did you do airgun related today.

One Squirrel less to eat bird seed , Shot with PP700 S A open sights , holding a pistol scope on the PP700 didn't work well , eye box was to small , long eye relief but if my eye was not in a very straight line with the scope center , maybe rested might be better ?

What did you do airgun related today.

so you have dogs ? I had a motorized one probably 50 years old , worked great actually cutting the grass like scissors instead of whacking the ends off leaving ragged tears instead of smooth cuts . That was on the city lot , here my front lawn is 70 x 300 feet i have a zero turn 52 inch cut 28 HP motor ! it will do 8 MPH but not very comfortable going that fast .
I used to love cutting the grass with my John Deere zero turn. 54 inch cutting deck,14 k’s an hour. We had 97 gum and iron bark trees on our footpath, zooming around them was a breeze. Used to take me 3 hours to mow what I could mow, we had just over 6 acres of land that I could mow the rest was dense bush and creek.
