Uncomfortably hot, is quite subjective. Any idea as to the temperature? My CS1 clone's maximum operating temperature is 90C /212 F which is burning the skin temperature. My liquid cooled New Warrior (uses a Yong Heng compressor internally) maximum temperature is 85 C/185F. Perhaps some of those numbers will be useful? FWIW, the CS3 is your CS2 in a more elaborate case, with pressure cutoff gauge.

I keep thinking of installing a temperature gauge or thermal cut-off on my CS3 but feeling the exhaust air temperature seems to be sufficient.

Tell you right now the used prices are about what new prices were 2-3 years ago and they are catching up faster than new prices are going up.

Good price of most HW $375-450 as of now,of course this can vary...

Been shooting off a folding table on my back deck with occasional clipping on the top rail when I don’t raise the bipod high enough. I finally got motivated and cut out a section of top rail and built a proper bench, lfe is so much better.

And just in case the air gun ever acts up, I always bring a rimfire along as a backup to keep the hunt going. I kind of always knew I’d end up here—parting ways with all the other gear and just keeping the one air gun that really works for me. No more 74 cu ft tanks, no more unnecessary gear. Just a reliable setup that lets me focus on the hunt. Less is more these days. And the Talon P gets it done.

It may get 10 fps. But it sure is hell is not gonna get 70. If the seals snug. Was the Vac seal snug?
It needs to be on the fine line to get the most of the tiny 25 mm short stroke.

They come from the factory at 12 fpe. Due to the nature of their design, they can’t make much more. I tuned my HW95 and Tx200 to that level. They are much more pleasant to shoot. Maybe the Brits have a good idea.

I’m next door in Louisiana, crows are smart all over. The first one was on the ground by the feeder, when I shot him the rest flew up in the trees. I had taken my Krait out of the safe from 74 degrees in the house to a humid 84 and, of course, my scope started sweating and fogging up. I was standing behind my wood rack and they couldn’t figure out where I was. I managed to find one amongst all the leaves on the trees and nailed him. At this point I figured it was all over but they just kept calling out so I just waited and wiped the lenses on my scope. I figured out where another one was and shot him, three on the ground. They all flew off but one landed in the top of a dead tree at about 70 yards and I was able to put one in him. It surprised me too that I was able to get four, I’m guessing since my Krait is pretty quiet and they couldn’t figure out where it was coming from, their curiosity got the better of them. Anyway it was a fun 5 minutes.

That's good shooting , best I ever got was 3 w/ my Kral NP03 .22. I've gotten 2 several times w/ higher powered guns out of tall trees at 50+ yards . I think most times they lose sight of their comrades & hang around looking for them, unless they squawk when hit. Then it's a different ball game !

I love the simplicity of the springers. Rifle, pellets, and all the benchrest supplies and firearm maintenance tools I already have. With a little luck I am hoping to buy someone's retired Diana 34 that is already scoped so that we can start plinking right away because fall is coming fast! The idea (and expense) of buying a PCP, compressor, and managing the fittings, etc. seems overwhelming to me.

So... is a springer the right choice for me or am I missing out on a MUCH better shooting experience by not going with a PCP?

I've had springers for ever, still have my first one from about 70 years ago, and when I decided to get a step up from my Webley Viscount, I bought a new Diana 470TH, but the cocking each time and single loading became really, really old. I bought a Diana Stormrider .22 and hand pump, which was far better, I've progressed through a bunch of PCPs, Yong Heng compressors and SCBA tank, until I gave up on that and now use a GX CS3 at the range. Two FX Streamlines, FX DRS, AA S510, Umarex Gauntlet .22s, shooting pellets out to 160 meters.

Great fun.

Edit: I should have mentioned that I shoot for about 6 hours, continually, once per week, with 80 mile round trip. I shoot from 500-1,000 pellets in a day, switching guns with the last one on the compressor. Very different practice than many.
