Brocock/BRK  JSB Hades 15g vs. Jumbo 18g

I'm shooting a BRK Pathfinder .22mm (loving it so far). This question pertains to hunting Iguana more than target practice/plinking.
I would like to establish which pellet is best suited for these extremely tough skinned creatures. I’ve had great results with the Jumbo 18.13g pellets But got started thinking that the lighter Hades with the hollow point type quality may do more damage or better stated, cleaner kill than possible straight through shot from the Jumbo. Taking an average of say … 25 yards & no wind to speak of , I tested both however, my results were inconclusive. Im probbly testing on the wrong targets. Here is what I did: @ 25 yards I set up a metal basin. Pretty sturdy, a little thicker than a coffee can. Five shots on the right with the Jumbo 18.13g & five shots on the left with Hades 15.89g. I knew all of the pellets would go through & make an entry hole, it was the result of the exit hole that I thought would help me see the benefit of either. As I guessed the entry holes were impressive. The exit hole were non-existant. I can say the entry holes from the Jumbo, inspecting from behind seemed just a hair more aggressive but the exits were nothing more than divits that were almost identical. Still the Jumbo seemed to be a hair heavier. Next the only thing I could think of was to shoot some coconuts that were laying around the yard, same results. Entry but no extit ( bad choice of target). Lastly, the only fruit I could get ahold of quickly was a large apple. I thought I could at least get a good view of the exit. As you may have guessed both pellets just passed through. I’m not suggesting that the 18g doesn’t make a more impressive thump on entry. It certainly hits with more authority than the 15g. I’m trying to find which makes more damage. I plan on continuing this experiment. In between time I’d like to hear from anyone that can tell me definitively can the Atomic like head of the lighter Hades do more damage than the Jumbo heavier pellet.
Any feedback is appreciated.
For big lizards don't overlook the hades that is the sister to the 15 dome. The 18 will do it really well if you have the steam to send them close to 900. Then there's the heavy hades/monster redesigns. The hades format is a nice middle ground of energy deposition, tissue damage and energy retention imo. If it's just energy dump I like polymags or hybrid slugs. The little 17grain nsa slugs aren't bad if your gun likes them.

If you can send a dome pellet fast enough and accurately they'll expand. My slug gun in 22 happens to like monster hades even if it's a bit fast. At 960 they really do things.

I use all those words to get here : pellet speed (within reasonable energy to kill your quarry) and pellet type don't matter if it's not THE most accurate and repeatable pellet your gun can shoot. If you can put a shot exactly where you want it every time, the rest is irrelevant imo. Happy hunting!

Dust Cover fo FX DRS Probe

I was concerned about my fill probe getting dirty sitting exposed while target practicing, so I designed a 3D dust cover. It fits loosely over the O-ring section but is a snug fit on the metal closest to the whip. I only had to print 3 before i got the dimensions correct, not bad for a rookie. I uploaded a file to thingiverse so anyone can print it. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:7112912

If you put it on thingiverse careful how you label it. I might use "xyz mm fill probe dust cover."

Well done!

Skout  Everything Skout EVO and Epoch

I always got a slight raise in reg pressure with the fill pressure, but will now monitor now I seem to have the reg pressure under control, but I am now finding that both 10.34 gr and 8.44gr pellets shoot at almost the same velocity, something that it's never done before! More testing to do, but it's looking hopeful for the fabled single figure FPS, but right now I am chasing leaks! Teach me to remove and reseal the fill valve as I had to check it since several have reported shredded O rings, and strangely mine just has a metal plug with just a single O ring that just slides up and down first time I have seen a valve like this, should have taken a pic.
I’ve actually seen one like that on Amazon and thought about using one like yours just because I figured it would probably give him longer service life. But I wonder how it acts under high-pressure like that versus the other one.

FX  Funny thing with this Chrono

That's a very good point @6gun
Mine triggers whenever I go from shade to full sunlight.
For example, poking the gun from indoor shade out the window into full sunlight
Taping off the sides worked for me

just my 2 rays of sunshine

What do you mean by"Taping off the sides" Maybe a picture?

Hornets nest

I was successful because of preparation . I would not attempt this without the full kit of protection. I have it all in a blue tub. I only used one can so I am ready for the next one. If it was honey bees I would leave them alone. Yellow jackets I can live with from a distance. This nest was right over the picnic table location and I could not have hornets stinging people. I hate to kill anything . But this is Field Target and we don’t take prisoners.

#1 Remind me to never have you trim my trees, you made a mess.

and ...

#2 (and most importantly) You tried to fire, but forgot to take off the safety first 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Good job

I have two TX200 .177 , one likes a tight to the shoulder the other likes loose in the shoulder , Both like the fore end in a loose fingertips not touching the gun hold . My front rest is one from Protector and has a "super Slippery cloth" that i can rest the gun directly on.

Need some ideas..favorite walk & stalk loadout

WTF is a loadout? Are we just making up words now because we are bored with regular words?
It's commonly used. It's soldier talk that spread via video games. Not unlike edc.

My edc load out is a leatherman, a big carpenters mechanical pencil, a box cutter and a flashlight. 😂

Interesting Groups

Actually, most of your groups are not that bad for 30 yrds. I shoot at 30 meters and find it a good challenge if I am not paying attention and doing my part. Are you just testing pellet accuracy, tuning your rifles, or somthing in between? Going between a 25.4 gr pellet and a 14.66 gr pellet as you did with the P35X will probably result in very similar outcomes to what you got from most rifles. That is a huge swing in weight, velocity, and trajectory. On the P35X, have you polished the barrel yet? Most Chinese barrels are good but a bit rough from the manufacturers. For what it's worth, I have started to size my pellets with a simple push through unit for a better consistancy in size.

Homebrew FX Chrony display

The biggest problems I had was arduino auto updating = the libraries.
A wrong library even just the revision of that library and won't work because the coding was asking for a specific rev.
Obviously I am not a coder and I had to chase people to troubleshoot for me.
Disabled the auto update about two years ago when I last time loaded my own gun/amo specs into the radar and never touch it again :)
The M5Gray block I was using in the beginning as a fake shot generator only, but ones I got all my stuff sorted out the parts are deep somewhere in my drawers.

Double down tex-rex 457

OLD @ 41  ! I give you credit for summer deer hunting though, I wouldn't cut it . I'm approaching 68 & have new shoulders & hips ,so my deer (or bear) dragging days are far behind me ! It's just groundhogs , crows , pest birds & rats now. Great job of video & shooting.
Yes sir nice shooting I hunt big game with air guns as well and enjoy videos and info mister hollow points work well

Brocock/BRK  JSB Hades 15g vs. Jumbo 18g

Just a couple of ideas if you decide to continue your terminal ballistics testing. Giles from Airgun101.com would tape several bars of bath soap (3 I believe) together for seeing how a particular pellet preformed. There are others that will use a small block of modeling clay for testing. I believe the soap would need to be cut with something like a sharp bread knife and the modeling clay can be split with a monofilament fishing line or fine wire.

In my opinion the most important aspect is accuracy and being able to hit where you are aiming. Not having hunted anything like Iguanas, I wonder if head shots or heart/ lung shots are the best way to go. I will be following this thread to learn more of what you discover.

N/A  First PCP - need advice (Notos vs Stoeger Scout)

My airguns are all in the upper 70db to mid 80 db sound level. Nothing that will damage my hearing but still something that could attract attention. If you neighborhood is pretty quiet normally I doubt you can find or make an airgun quiet enough your neighbors that are outside won't hear it. I measure the pellet hitting the paper target at about 85 db. A mower or kids loudly playing will drown it out but if there is nothing else fairly noisy going on people know it if they go into their yard and I am shooting. Fortunately for me, it's legal and none of my neighbors seem to care.

Im not that brave , i would have called someone, although i did like the idea of a spray can with a lighter attached

Other  Which 30 cal

The problem is some factions insist their opinion/experience is the only ones that matter. Everyone else needs to stop with their "incorrect" experience. And often these types do not have any time with the other options, but somehow know for sure xyz. Many of us have owned and shot both sides of the debate but for some reason dont get to offer our opinions. Not sure what it is, but team AEA has more blocked members on my account than all the others combined.

And to those that think we are all just a bunch of FX fan boys trying to get a sponser? please take some time to look at our previous posts. Some of us have been VERY critical of FX. But the hard truth is if you want a certain level of performance or features FX is still one of the best options.
People who think they’re married to their objects depress me. Lol

classified grind.

That is an interesting way of dealing with it.

I struggle with patience frequently myself. But airguns are not cheap and it seems reasonable to try and screen people wanting to buy and sell. I understand it can be frustrating to people starting out but I think the rule is a good one.

If you need a topic and work on the gun yourself pick a mod or a repair and tell us what you did and why. That seems more like a solid post.
