Other  Canting, harmonics, or shooter error?

Hi Doc,

It looks like your front rest is allowed to rotate freely when moving from target to target…

… however, your rear sandbag is stationary. Is it possible that some stiction builds up when shifting targets - the stiction getting released when your Crown recoils? Admittedly, recoil is very mild - but you are shooting precision targets…

A simple test to determine if the PoI shifts are stiction related is to take the rifle butt out of the sandbag and reset it prior to shooting new target - and note if PoI shifts is still happening…

Airgun Technologies  The Future of Springers – Are We Still in the Game?

The way I see the great springers.....they are the true survival rifles.....when all goes to turds, you can't take a PCP.....totally useless; however the good ole Springer will be with you for the journey, anytime, anywhere and at a moments notice! That and a good knife!
I totally agree with you on this, although it is quite hard to hunt some specific wild game in a particular type of train, a high-quality springer is still a great source of hope for a survivor in an off-grid situation, which I'm quite a fan of.

Personally, I've had Diana 66 in 4.5mm, and this is what it looks like if you're wondering. (This particular one is not mine)
Diana 66.jpg

And after this, I've had a Diana 350 Magnum in 5.5mm and then a Diana 35 in 4.5mm.
Although several of my buddies had Gamos, we did not appreciate the plastic in critical areas like, breach block and barrel latching sear, which later on, one of them broke a barrel latch.

I wanted to share some of my hunting pictures with springers, although I think I should start a new thread for it so people can join in as well.

N/A  Is air pistol cheaper in the long run [edit:] than competitive firearms shooting?

Yes, the FAS is a good choice. One reservation is that the velocity is a little low to consistently punch cleah holes in target paper:

The Weihrauch HW 75 (aka Beeman P2) is another good SSP choice:

The IZH 46M may be the best entry-level SSP, but now rather hard to find. The easiest-to-charge SSP I've ever shot.

Another popular choice is the uber-classic FWB 65 springer. No longer made, but plenty of them around in good shape.

Lots of other good ones out there! I am not really a target pistolero to be honest, I'm sure others will have good suggestions.

What springer did you shoot today?

Really enjoy your posts! Charles
Thanks, Charles, really. You should see what I do for an encore. Crow
Dusted off the Custom FWB 124. This, from what I was told, is a Jan Kraner job. I mainly shoot from a bag. I can make almost ANY springer shoot well from a bag, but the standard 124s and 124Ds have always given me trouble. Not this one. I was shooting one hole at 25 yards without any extra effort. What a smooth shooting rifle. It's goin' on the bench for a trigger job. The pull weight is much too heavy for me. I'll bet I can do even better once that's taken care of. View attachment 580295
Nice gun. FWB‘s drips with quality. That’s one of four on my bucket list. Crow

69F right now, high 79 today with sun. Perfect to tackle this job. My dock and shooting platform for long shots in winter, 75-100 yds.

This 40 yr. old relic is toast. Crow

HW30 Galling

I already had a spring break on a brand new HW 95. It was in three pieces. It didn’t even make it to 500 rounds before it broke. It just started getting harder to break the barrel over I knew I had to take it apart and check it out. I had a TBT Kit I hadn’t planned on installing until the break in was over but Im glad I had it ready .

Weihrauch springs are junk but they usually last longer than that. Very early spring failure is usually caused by dry firing, detonation and or excessive dieseling. Usually the those conditions trash the piston seals too if a damaged piston seal didn't cause those conditions in the first place.

What keeps you shooting?

Nostalgia!

Some of the BEST memories I have are of me and my dad shooting together. Everything from combat pistol, to clay pigeons to random plinking.

Later on, my mom "hired" me to "deal with" the hordes of chipmunks that were totally destroying all her plants on her deck and uprooting her garden. My dad had developed Parkinson's and had difficulty holding on the miniature garden roto-tillers, so it was up to me.

I'd go over a few times a week and sit with dad on the deck with my rifle and plink any chipmunk that showed up. We'd sit there for a few hours, just enjoying each other's company, while slowly whittling away at the legions of chipmunks 🐿.

I lost dad December 6th, 2021, and with him, my desire to shoot. I recently got the urge to shoot back, and have gone to mom's a half-dozen times with the rifle and a few pellets, returned to my "usual" spot on the deck to snipe a few rodents ... all the while remembering my time with dad.

HW/Weihrauch  Eighteen dimes??

I love the fact the little HW30 can hold its own with the big boys:) I have the Beeman R7 version, and it too loves AA 7.33 pellets.
I had right shoulder surgery first part of May and I am in serious shooting withdrawal:( I am hoping the R7 will be part of my physical therapy soon!
My Hw30s are every bit as accurate as my other Weihrauchs inside 30 yards. That's not even it's best showing. That particular lot of AA 7.33s aren't particularly good in that gun. A good lot of them or the JSB 7.33 will shoot one ragged hole all day long. My wifes Hw30 is even more accurate than either of mine. And stronger too. It's a real anomaly.

Also I just enjoy shooting the 30s more. Why cock harder and manipulate heavier rifles only to shoot paper at 25 yards. At least that's my feelings.

I'm hoping your recovery goes well

Looking to get into the hobby

Willy Nelson ate them all the time ....

In that movie . (Barbarossa)
Ah, yes, one of my MANY musical heresy, like the man, not a fan of his music. Specifically his voice. From WAY back when he would be on Sunday TV shows like Ferlin Husky's (?) and went by Wee Willie Nelson.

''Member Classifieds" section suggestion.... what is the group thought?

No, I like it the way it is. I set the filter for what I want to see. I usually scan 4-5 categories separately.
Nothing would change for you with my suggestion. You would still be able to set the filter for what you want to see. The ability to pick one category (your method) OR multiple categories would serve everyone.

Scope Mounting Tip

I just use adjustable rings, makes up for forgetting to check clearance. Which I do every !@$% time.

Like Monday mounting a scope on my HM1000x before I had the QD_FOX magazines in hand...

Pull the adjustment screws, move the scope up a couple notches, put the screws back in. Magazine now clears the scope.

Man, that’s nice. Look at the stippling! And I love the old Beeman scope.

Hatsan  Help 6" groups

Sounds like a Gamo then ..😉

Dont know what the definition of budget is for any one person, but if .,25 this could do

I have a .22 Shin Sung Career 2 707, the predecessor.
Love that rifle, very good looking, lots of power. A heavy rifle. Accurate and has that slide in linear magazine which i find i like a lot better than rotary that the Seneca has. Or any rotary magazine.
