AirMaks Arms  Airmaks Katran/BRK pathfinder - Airgun euphoria

Compacts! Yet to try a BRK product. Taipan Veteran, Airmaks ... CZ barrel ;). I believe there are some others AGT etc that use CZ barrels which I have not tried either. I have a past few issues with Airmaks right from the horses mouth on their end ( gave another chance cause the Katran was a wonderful intro for my wife into PCPs from springers ), but they pack some darn good features around that CZ barrel for the price/quality point. Humm, yeah, seems like my venture into this has also found some sort of pattern. SMH, thanks for the post and sharing. (y)
Definitely priced below what they actually are.

What diameter barrels for Airforce Talon and Escape in .25caliber?

Chard, I have the Airforce Escape UL with both the .22cal and the .25 cal barrels. My favorite ammo for both are interestingly the same. The .22 cal does very well with the H&N Baracuda 21 gn pellets and the Apolo 21 gn slugs. The .25 barrel does very well with the H&N Baracuda 30.89 pellets and the Apolo 33 gn slugs. The Escape UL, IMHO, is the perfect field hunting rifle... very light weight, can be power wheel adjusted in the field easily. I normally keep mine set up to shoot 10 shots per fill at ~60 ft lbs with the .25 cal barrel, from about 2300 psi down to about 1800 psi, so hand pump friendly. A few more shots are available in .22 at about 45 ft lbs, again hand pump friendly. I do have a compressor, but only use it to fill my buddy bottle that I take to the field to refill the Escape UL if necessary.

What do you have your power setting at when you’re shooting from 2300 to 1800 psi?

Taipan  Taipan Slash first tuning report.

I'll post more power curve results from my slash when I have them. The data tables I posted all ready summarize the general performance range from my Slash for a dozen pellets and slugs over a minimum to maximum regulator pressure.

I expect that direct comparisons of the Slash performance to that of other air guns will generate their own separate threads once we have some more performance results from the longer barrel models the 30 caliber models.

That's great. I owned the K1 and it's great, but as you say ..There are a bunch of threads about it and turning this thread into one of them isn't necessary IMO.

Taipan  Taipan Slash first tuning report.

I started this post as a Taipan Slash thread.
I'll post more power curve results from my Slash when I have them. The data tables I posted already summarize the general performance range from my Slash for a dozen pellets and slugs over a minimum to maximum regulator pressure.

I expect that direct comparisons of the Slash performance to that of other semi auto air guns will generate their own separate discussion threads once we have some more performance results from the longer barrel 22 and 25 cal models and the new 30 caliber Slash models expected this fall.

Cure to the illness?

I have had my first PCP less than a week and I just ordered a GX pump, tons of pellets, and already looking to upgrade my rifle. No one warned me this was hobby was so addictive and the bunny hole is deep enough to not have a bottom.

I grew up shooting a Benjamin Sheridan many years ago and was a menace to any squirrel, rabbit or bird my entire youth. Over the last 40 years, I have shot lots of rimfires, rifles, pistols and muzzleloaders but never really thought too much about pellet rifles. Until recently.

I decided to upgrade my old sheridan to something more modern and ordered the first rifle I saw on YT that had a good review- A Gamo Urban. I knew it would get my feet wet and help me decide if this is something I want to do more seriously but had no idea what kind of addiction it was unlocking. Now I'm looking at high-end shooters that I have no business buying right now. The healthiest thing for my pocket book and marriage would be if yall ban me right now!

Diana  Springer Shooting Technique

As I now have a Diana 350 magnum that for now is my favorite air rifle I need help with the Springer Shooting Technique that you use , or have mastered.
If your shooting off a rest do you hold the rifle tight to your shoulder. I'm afraid if you don't it will kick you. Do you use the Artillery hold. I looked this up , and didn't quite get it explained where I understand it. Hold it loose ok well how ? Any others thoughts , or practices , and Ideas. I'm shooting the H&N Field Target Trophy 8.4g at 15 yards ar 888 fps , and quite a few were close to where I was shooting , but could not seem to hit where I was aiming for exactly. I'm new to springers , and had the Hatsan Air Tac shooting dime size groups , but this one needs more of a technical hold. I have a cheap Birchwood Casey Fox Trot rest but the 350 fits great the scope is a Westlake 6 x 24 x 60 it's a nice scope. Just need help to lean the right way to shoot this.
Maybe pellet suggestions , or is speed to fast , and I need heavy ones to slow it down. OldVet.

Taipan  Taipan SLASH Review (World's Top Semi Auto Air Rifle)

That was an awesome video. How much are you gonna sell it now that is used
This particular one I did not get to keep. But I liked it so much I bought it. So it's going in the glass case. I won't sell it until I accidentally drop it on the pavement or it falls out of my car while I'm driving or something like that. In my life that is a real thing. The virtus 22 I reviewed, I accidentally ran over it with my truck on the way to mail it. I told the guy who was buying it and he said quit messing with me. It was mostly okay so he took it anyway and I gave him a few bucks off.

Those are some of the guns that made the cut.

FX  What causes regulator to be same pressure as the rest of the air tube?

I've been messing with regulators for awhile with some success. But I had to think about what was going on more with a couple SPA regulators that were not working and I think I finally understand basically what is going on with the regulators I have in my SPA guns which work the same as the Huma in my Caiman.

The basic functionality is just a piston formed by the shaft the spring washers are on that has a plastic disc on the top that interacts with the end of the adjustment screw. The "piston" closes the valve formed between the plastic disc and the end of the stem when the air pressure in the regulated chamber raises high enough. The spring washers are pushing to open the valve. So if you increase the force from the washers by turning the adjustment screw clockwise it takes less pressure in the regulated chamber to close the valve. That's why you turn clockwise to lower the regulator. I think it's a good idea to make sure you can easily move the stem with the washers up and down after you finish servicing a regulator. The air has to be able to move it. There will be a little resistance but if there is too much it won't seal and the gun will be unregulated. That is what happened to my SPA regulators. I didn't put enough silicone grease on this area.

Taipan  Taipan SLASH Review (World's Top Semi Auto Air Rifle)

Got $2500 burning a hole in your pocket? Here you go:

This aint' no Western Sidewinder...way nicer. Worth the $, if you got it to spend, in my opinion. Best slug shooter out there for sure. Thanks for watching! -Nate

Air Gun Gong

We use a 12" or 14" aluminum plate or steel disk/gong at 160 meters, usually under windy conditions. Those can be 100% hits with pellets, off the bench with front & rear bags. The aluminum plate has a much nicer and louder ring to it.

40, 60, 77 @ 100 meters, we use .22 rimfire metallic silhouettes hung from two chains. Good fun.

The 100 meter ram needs to be of lighter material in order for it to move well. IIRC, 1/8" steel.

We also shoot disks at 125, 135, 145 metres, hung from chains onto steel rods, up the rock slide at the end of the range.

The steel disk is an old cut/off wheel with 126 hits at 160 meters, despite the wind. We repaint after every day's shooting.

IDK if that is of any value for your shooting.
