CHEAP, plentiful targets 🎯 at Walmart, NOT in Sporting Goods

Was trolling my local Walmart a few weeks ago, and in the Stationary section, I found these PERFECT, stick-on bullseyes.

Several hundred (924 to be exact) for $2. Originally intended for repairing holes in paper used in ring binders, these things are awesome for making aiming points on almost anything.

Air Venturi  No leaks...but no pressure?

Ouch. If only it was an oring or two, I could understand it. But no leaks anywhere from what I can tell.
There will be expressions of horror, but I have only managed to find a couple of very tiny leaks buy removing the stock and barrel, then completely immersing the gun to reveal tiny bubbles, periodically leaking. It's not rocket surgery to flush the water when done.

Sefic carbon air tank inside damage

I don't know anything about their quality. It all could have been translation issues when I was chatting with them.

The other one I've never felt comfortable with is Snow Rain.

Alibaba is generally the cheapest then AliExpress. Amazon is 3rd, Ebay 4th. Alibaba you can chat with the sellers, most of the time you must to get a quote. From a US perspective Acecare and Tuxing/Alsafe have US warehouse for larger tanks so shipping is less than a week.

Tuxing (same as Alsafe) is a good choice.
Thanks for those information.
From europe perspective buying US or China is more expensive because tax, customs and shipping cost.
Also it take more time.

Nice that there is lot of options where to buy those tanks.

Didn't know that Tuxing and Alsafe are same.
I wish they are good choice.

Other  Canting, harmonics, or shooter error?

I’m shooting at 43 meters on a -5° slope. Target: 20x20 cm card with 5 bullseyes (2 bottom, 2 top, 1 center). Rifle: FX Crown, 700 mm barrel with carbon sleeve and spacers, .22 JSB 18 gr at 870-880 fps, tuned. Setup: Huggett Astille moderator, SEB AR250 front rest, rear sandbag. Wind: 1-3 m/s.

I can shoot hole-on-hole sub-MOA groups on the first (bottom) bullseye after zeroing. However, when I switch to the upper or center bullseyes, the POI shifts, mostly in windage, even though the rifle is steady and grouping well. Could this be harmonics, canting at this distance, wind effects, or an issue with my shooting position/technique?

H&N Slug HP II - A small step for a slug, a giant leap for its terminal performance

Why doesn't H&N come out with slugs that are harder in compound in order to penetrate harder objects because of the harder object too much expansion is not what you want? I'm going to test the new H&N slugs as well as pellets back to back with a 22 caliber 600 mm FX Panthera. I've reached the conclusion after doing my own research that the subject of calibers, pellets and slugs in relation to calibers, accuracy and lethality is a very complicated. Here is what what I am going to do. My theory is that too much expansion is not a good thing especially when it comes to harder objects like bones and skulls of animals and larger game. A lot of slug manufacturers are just looking for expansion and they're not testing for penetration through hard objects. I'm going to test pellets and slugs with the same gun and the same caliber on hard objects and soft objects like and see what the results are because at this point after looking at a lot of information I'm still not convinced and still have a lot of questions. I've seen a 25 caliber versus a 30 caliber pedals deeper and have just as much expansion as a 30 caliber. I suggest you watch the video baker air guns did it . I don't recall the title.
ZAN makes solids. So could H&N.

FT & JSB 13.43's?

For a time I was running NSA 15g slugs in hunter class. Because of the shape and weight, they maintained velocity further out. This meant that the rounds dropped slower/shot flatter than you might think. My 55yd holdover was about an inch lower than the Air Arms 10.3. In a comparable wind they had half the hold off of a pellet. It would be nice if they hadn't been banned. Oh well.

Western Airguns  Western Airguns Mordax Venom

Most compact airguns cannot produce the FPE wanted. E.g. Brocock path finder, Atomic XR, and Notos to name a few. Im hoping to get 25-35 FPE on the .22 Mordax venom either shooting 15.89gr or 18.13gr JSBs while keeping the gun compact.
Numbers from my Pathfinder XR, out the box, close to 25 FPE, am sure a little more power can be had if desired…

FT & JSB 13.43's?

@Raider03:

I keep my maximum velocity under the 20 ft-lb or 20 ft-lb + 2% velocity. I shoot multiple fills and track my velocity during practice and matches.

Typically I tune to as close to 818 as I can and then if there is some float in hot weather if I tuned during the winter I won't go over the 2% max.

For the Worlds you can't be one fps over the 12 ft-lbs so I tuned to around 715fps (with 10.34's) and monitored the rifle during practice and the first day of the match to make sure I did not go over...

***For some reason I could not quote your post, it would not post my response. What is up with the auto-mod, it COMPLETELY misses full on swear words and then blocks completely harmless posts. And it was my first post of the day so i'm not spamming.***
Thank you for the info.

Air Arms S400

Twenty years past now, I bought an Air Arms S400 EFT to shoot field target. Twenty foot pounds, .177, flat shooting, lots of air storage, great looks. What was there not to like? However, time happened and with it ERB, long range, bench rest, magazine fed guns, speed shooting, NRL-22, Extreme Field Target! Many Airgun Nation readers know this drill.

My S400 became a back bencher, and then developed a leak. It sat unused until interest in field target returned to Pocatello, but I did not have a suitable, and working, air rifle.

A new filler valve assembly fixed the leak as well as having a lug to lock the filler cap to the gun. My gun came before the lock on cap and I have shot the filler hose off the gun several times. That was not cool during the field target nationals at Ashland, Oregon. Now days, I have a compressor and I used it to air the 400 up to 100 BAR. It held the pressure for ½ hour and I increased the pressure to 200 BAR.

The next morning the gauge still read 200. I was ½ way there, but what about a scope? I took a 2.5 – 10X Swift with its mounts off a Career 707, and, wonder of wonder, it printed at 12:00 five inches high at 30 yards.

There is a Field Target match in Pocatello next month. We will see how well I and the S400 can do. Likely that post will be in the FT section. Wish us luck.

Airgun Capital

I am all for calling companies directly out for bad experiences 100%. I like this was put here where responses can be posted. I hate the industry feedback section. Utter waste when not even the company can respond. Stupid. Anyway I digress. However you should make sure you are informed about all the equipment you are using before you publicly announce to completely avoid a company. It’s highly likely your problem is due to poor QC from the manufacturer of the jts Airguns. Actually a relatively well known issue, pellet clipping on the Airacuda when using a mod due to poor alignment of barrel and shroud. Just saying you should be sure that’s not it before bashing Airgun capital.

HW/Weihrauch  MK1 HW77 Front Sight Assembly Question

Shot my early HW77 the other day. Cocking lever fell out after a shot. Expected to see the detent ball rolling around on the ground. Nope, still staked. Was thinking maybe tired spring until I realized the entire front assembly had moved forward. Slid back into place. Holds for a shot or two then moves again. Looking at schematics for the current version it appears there’s a grub screw that holds the front assembly in place on the barrel. Correct me if I’m wrong. Does anyone know if the first version had a grub screw? There’s something that looks a bit like a grub screw, but if that’s what it is I think I’m going to have to drill out because the head doesn’t look right. Hoping someone knows for sure. If it’s friction fit then only thing I can think of is to tap back in place with a wooden block, maybe heat a little first?
MY HW77 long (newer) has a tiny grub screw on the bottom , most likely a tiny Allen wrench . not near my tools to try it .

Skout Epoch Compact or Custom Delta Wolf?

I never owned a compact just a full size epoch and currently have a DW so I think I can compare pretty well. Off the top of my head I would say you really can’t go wrong with either. Great guns. The comparisons. You mentioned slugs and that nod goes all day to the Skout. The daystate you will have to order a special barrel that is long and as far as I know a bit un proven. Or go completely custom like it sounds you did with the one you owned. Extra hassle. A factor in favor of the DW for me would be price vs features. Used DW are cheap. They go around the price of a new epoch and you get a lot more functionality with the on board computer/chrono vs just an electronic gun in the epoch. The other nod to the DW in my opinion would be the safety. To me this would be a pretty big deal if using for hunting. The DW has a very deliberate safety with a long throw. The epoch is just a button with no feel at all just a light. Just not conducive to hunting in my opinion. Everything else to me is pretty much a wash. Both great guns but If it were me I would get another DW for sure.
Love that answer and domt like it too. It is def more positive towards a delta, which is what i really want. On the other hand it is going to ne costly to get a barrel and shroud made, which is why I was going more toward the epoch beforehand, due to I dont want a barrel chrono. Too much weight out front, my compact was very nice to shoulder, the delta before and the delta after, both were fron heavy.
