Garmin vs Athlon Chrony

Garmin app is absolutely TERRIBLE and the units SW is clunky. Other than giving you real time data on your current string it's difficult to do anything else with it. The unit itself works great but the app and SW is a real let down. I've been on the phone several times with Garmin and they don't really care. Maybe they get their stuff together now there's competition.

My extensive experience with marine Garmin electronics is they won't. Their SW has always been clunky to the point of being unsafe and updates are usually only done to fix operation flaws.

If you occasionally want basic information in front of you. The Garmin is great. If you want to do anything with the information look elsewhere.
Wow, I have been running Garmin for many many years from handheld GPS, Marine electronics, mapping devices in my car and now shooting and trap shooting. I would rate the customer service as top notch! If i have issues they get them resolved right away. Sorry for your bad luck.
I am really happy with the Garmin Chrono, works great and the app is easy to use!

Pellet Groups at 100 yards

I have no airgun competition around my place within a big driving radius.
But I train and practice with rings, as I would be competing - against myself at least.
Whenever I am thinking precision and accuracy, I am averaging my scores from a full tin (prepared pellets), which is usually my daily volume at a range.
In an average day, no best or worst,
I can have a one MOA (1") groups of 5 at 100 meters about 80% time.
The rest of 15% is more between 1.2-2.0 MOA,
and of course the last about 5% is a real mess trying to figure out the elements.

How well does Hatsan USA pack their pellet orders?

i just did a search for field supply airgun pellets and this website address came up:
it looks like an eBay site.
the reviews look good on eBay..but i've no personal knowledge or experience with them

sorry....thought i found the correct site...i apologize

Shooting Airgun in residential neighbourhood

My city in the northwest metro Atlanta allows airguns and slingshots, provided you have a safe backstop on your yard. . The law is antiquated as the town has become much denser in population, but so far is under the radar of the City Council. Just will take one complaint, and shooting them will be illegal, so I hide my shooting the best I can.

shut off and bleed valve

A buddy bottle will change your life with a small compressor. Paintball sized will have a check valved foster, so you could leave it on the compressor and bleed the little line and fill off it instantly. Tube gun or bottle gun. It allows you to shoot while the compressor runs to refill as well. I talked the new pcp users in my friend group into a small bottle and they agree it's a game changer for enjoyment. They have small tube guns too. Not only that but it's another cool vessel to condense moisture instead of your gun, if the compressor is putting moisture out.
I never thought about it before, but that is a great use of a check valved foster input . . . . something for me to consider in the future, although with full 9 and 2L tanks I really don't need another . . .

Resources  Creating Dope - my stubborn way

I just learned to click in the last couple of months. Ohhh how sweet it is! Especially with an Mrad / .10 mil scope ! A 1 holdover is 10 clicks…. How easy is that 🤪
Time to share my latest new to me trick
I’m totally stoked about my new method for creating solid dope.

First I zero my gun at rhe middle point of pellets trajectory - say at 30 yards
then
I draw 2 thin horizontal lines .20 apart on a stiff stock paperboard And place the target at EXACTLY 10 yards
I aim at center point between the lines and shoot
I compare my point of impact to my point of aim and determine my aproximate holdover
But
I adjust my POI using clicks until all my shots fall perfectly between the two horizontal lines
I then adjust the ballistics APP scope height until the point of impact matches the clicks necessary to fall perfectly between the two lines.
next I shoot only using clicks at a variety of small 1/4” to 1/2” targets at known distances from 9 yards out to 60 yards
I also set out NR/ BR 50 cards taped to blocks of putty to evaluate if any odd trend or drift is occurring
this new Way of creating dope by validating with clicks is way more accurate than just visually using a holdover value.
I’ve redone dope on four different HFT rigs and it’s like they are different 💪 guns.
No worries The Thomas got plenty of attention afterwards😎

FX  How to get to 850 fps on FX Dreamline and 0.25 / 25.39gr

I set the pressure gauge at 145, power wheel is on Max and hammer on Max. All I get is 696 to 707 fps.

If I increase the pressure the speed actually declines.

Is there any other setting to change? Trying to get to at least 850 fps.

Dreamline tactical compact? Mines in 25, reg 150, max wheel, PLUS THE MICRO ADJUSTER cranked up. It's a little Allen screw if you haven't messed with it yet. If you don't know which, I can send a Pic when you reply.

It's a little faster than 850 with 380mm barrel. Stock hammer weight and spring.

shut off and bleed valve

MY biggest gun takes less than 1.5 minutes to top off , small compressor . I do not own any bottle guns really do not like the look is all . 3 hours drive to any dive shop that might fill a tank 9 t5hey already said no one time .

EaZy Trigger Fill for PCPs

I'm using a clone from Aliexpress. The 1st one I bought worked after I adjusted the trigger. I liked it so much I bought another, but from a different supplier from Aliexpress. That one leaked forever, once the trigger was pulled. After attempting repairs I returned for full refund.

Can't see paying a premium price for the real deal when it also has issues and poor support!

Pellet Testing?

I have never cleaned the barrel of any airgun I have. My AA S410 is about 24 years old and shoots as good as the day I got it(at 25yds it stacks 10 shots with JSB's and Crosman Premiers into a dime sized hole with no flyers). My FX King has a new liner and I do not plan on cleaning it either. Since I don't shoot competition, the minute improvement cleaning might(I say might because I am skeptical that it makes enough of a difference to make a difference) impart upon the precision of pellet/slug placement isn't worth the trouble.

Current scope?

I haven't seen a Sidewinder, nor are they listed by the dealers that I frequent. Are you willing to contrast the Sidewinder and Airmax?

We are two isolated airgunners, I shoot PCPs and my friend a springer, which makes comparisons very difficult, except for online who will extend some advice.

I dislike SF because of the difficulty in reading the numbers on the parallax scale. Using the parallax to focus results in eye strain in a short time, and is unneccessary because we shoot at known, fixed distances. We move between various distances, randomly so the changes happen frequently.

Others have different habits and requirements, but I find that asking can often completely redirect my impressions.
Numbers on a parallex knob are worthless which is why you see few scopes with them. Your parallex changes day by day, or quicker, with conditions .
Airmax to me was way behind the Sidewinder and even farther behind my Sightron Stacs in brightness, clarity, and resolution. When I looked at the top Hawke with their H7 lens because I like the available reticle, I felt to my eyes the lens were inferior to the Sidewinder. Ok, none of the scopes I have mentioned here optically are close to say a Sightron SVED with the dual parallex knobs or a Nightforce Competition, nor should they be at their price point. Both the Air max and the Frontier had less then a crisp sharp sight picture. Air max clicks were very mushy, they did not inspire confidence.
