yes sir. Def found that .25 or even up to a .30. Could use .30 for hogs even from my research. I’ve been scouring the classifieds all morning looking. Trying to get to my post requirements to be able to start dming to make a purchase. Lil nervous honestly about sending someone 1000miles away 1k+ so trying to find someone in Texas or surrounding states I could drive to. A little less nervous about there being an issue in person.

Field Target is an arms race.

Let's revive this topic with a twist. We will objectively be trying to prove if the $cost$ of your Field Target Airgun and your choice of Scope have any correlation to the overall performance - and thus be a true arms race based on investment rather than ego.

There will be three/four classes for testing this:

<12 FPE - any scope any magnification

PCP
Springer

<20 FPE - any scope but limited to 16X magnification
PCP
Springer

All interested persons will take their current or favorite "or all of them" Field Target rigs and shoot a white 5"x7" graph style index card, marked dead center with a 1/8" circle. You will shoot it (10) ten times at 55 yards.

Ideally, for a proper comparison we will need the following information:

the name / type of airgun (price point with upgrades if any)
the type of scope (price point)
any special tuning that may have been done (cost)
total investment =
total net return on said investment = will require some math, as in, a way to determine cost versus the smallest 10 shot group created.

You are welcome and encouraged to repeat this process for as many airgun / scope combinations as you have, but the weather conditions need to be the same. Shooting from a bench is also encouraged as the overall stability in grouping will have some of the human factor removed, some not all.

Please post your pictures of your 10 round (not cherry picked)
Just to clarify - we are more interested in your group size than we are you hitting the bullseye.

I will be doing this test for approximately 10 or more high end HFT rigs / scope combinations. A Crosman HFT Challenger and a Thomas will be in my samplings.

your welcome to add your pellet choice and speed as well but the group (measured) is the most important thing.
Love the idea of seeing groups with different guns but what is the main thought behind this? That cheap guns aren't as accurate as expensive ones?

kill with intention!Whatever it takes to do so, do it.More power is better.I have Benjamin PCP ,to me the best for the money.all under $450.A Marauder,a Kratos and a Akela bullpup. All can shoot 1/2" groups at 30 yards. You do not have to spend more than that.Plus scope and air suppy.Check them out. I got mine from Airgun Revisions.

Howdy,

Just join the community and looking to get into the hobby. Mainly for pest/varmit control around my property here in Texas plus get the family more involved with shooting. Have a cheap ol .177 I use to rid the yard destroying armadillos around my property now. Only prob with that is gotta get close and head shots only. Hoping to find something in the pcp line to give me more reach and ability to go from my back porch. Been watching a lot of videos and now researching this forum to learn more about this hobby. Glad to be here
Its old, it's discontinued, it's hand pump able. Look for a used benjamin discovery..... or a marauder if you want a magazine and more steam. If you want to spend some money, I have recommendations for that juncture if you'd like lots of power and up to and just past 100 yard capability

‘Dillos are tough. Ideally, a .25 cal would be best or a .22 able to deliver heavier pellets like 25.4 gr. I don’t know what your budget is, but I recommend an FX Wildcat Mk3 VP which is less than $1500. Check out the classifieds. Good deals can be found there.

''Member Classifieds" section suggestion.... what is the group thought?

So I gave the filter a try. It would seem you cannot filter just air guns only. You have to pick one of 22 categories. And you can only pick one category. There are four categories for "airguns".

PCP rifle
PCP pistol
Traditional rifle
Traditional pistol

To do just a search for air guns, I would have to do 4 separate searches. Four separate categories. It would be wonderful if you could pick more than one category, but I was unable to do so.

In addition the results are not chronological, regardless of the ascending or descending option.

Sometimes simple is easy.

GX-E-5k2 vs Tuxing Dive Compressor (Blue units)

I don't have experience to answer what you are asking, but I wanted to point out that one should not focus on the duration it takes to do something that you might only do once every 5 years or even less often (like filling a 6.8L tank from empty), and more on how long you might have to run it every week (or however often you'd need to) in order to meet your shooting needs. I think you'll find the difference in compressors is not really that noticeable when you think that way - something like a 10 minute run vs. a 14 minute run; I mean does it even matter at that point . . .

What pistol did you shoot today

How do you get that red dot on that paper plate? Looks printed on.
I got them at Amazon…they are 1” sticky dots…you get a 1000 in a roll for $6.99…I love them …I buy the big pack of the cheapest paper plates I can find…and they are perfect for setting your sight’s and saving them for future references

Huben  Any issues or problems with Huben gk1 please share your experience

Hi all! I have problems with my brand new Huben gk1 caliber .25 Ver 3+. It's making pretty bad groups with Discovery scope installed at 25 yards. Groups are 4-5 inches. Scope is good Discovery 4-16x44 and the mount is good quality as well. First I thought the problem is me but other more experienced shooters gave it a try and they said that it really is shooting bad. Do you think huben shop may approve this as warranty situation? After all the gun function properly its just shooting bad.

After all these vids and reviews on the net I really expected hole in hole at this distance with scope on it. And I only use JSB pellets 25 and 34 grain, no slugs no experiments..

Need help with my tank

I can’t get it above 4000. It says 4600 when I fill it. My compressor is a cs4- i. Did it both ways, used the compressor stop and ran it past 4500 hit the switch. Did not work, checked it and it was 4000. Thanks for the reply.
While the compressor is running, check to see that the tank gauge and the compressor gauge readings agree.
If the two gauges show substantially different readings, always fill to the highest reading gauge to avoid safety issues.
For example, if the compressor gauge reads 4500 psi but the tank gauge reads 4000 psi, rely on the compressor gauge. However, if the tank gauge shows 4500 psi but the compressor gauge shows 4000 psi, rely on the tank gauge.

Dead-head test:

Do not use auto shut off.
Fill until either the compressor gauge or the tank gauge reads 4500 psi. Record the tank gauge reading.
Close the tank valve with the compressor running.
Immediately after closing the tank valve, open the bleed screw on your CS4-i.
Then stop the compressor.
Immediately dead-head the tank. Be sure to fully open the tank valve.
The tank gauge should read be the same as recorded above.

HATSAN SAD

The guy who paid $1,000 for a Hatsan from Midway will just have to learn from his impulsive decision. If you can’t stop guys that openly know they are buying a lottery gun from doing it, all you can do is sit back and watch. Hatsan is not the only one who makes guns that need to be sent back ten minutes after receiving them. But I think it would be safe to say that 80%+ of AGN already boycotts them.
I'm glad many here have learned , but it's sad some even here had to learn the hard way. Will we as a Nation let the people who buy airguns learn from there mistakes , and I don't think he openly knew it would be like this.

Field Target is an arms race.

I’m in
I am going to start with spring guns.

1 Browning leverage w 4-12x utg. $300

2 Diana 48 with utg 4-16 $600

3 tx200 Aztec Emerald 5.5-25. $1200

I’ll make this my weekend project weather permitting.

HATSAN SAD

I lurked here for months before committing to my first airgun. No regrets a year later.
Like @rcarlisle said, Gotta put in the work.
Yes I understand that . It's the good people that don't have this great nation , or understand why that is allowed to happen to them I'm concerned about. The guy said he would contact BBB , but again another innocent person not checking with BBB , and reading his report will undoubtedly get served the same pain. These good people could someday join us , and I almost felt obligated to make this post as it could have happened to me.

GX-E-5k2 vs Tuxing Dive Compressor (Blue units)

This hot weather has me thinking about a upgrade in compressors . I’ve got 2 GX-CS3
and had nothing but good things to say especially because parts are available for repairs somewhat reasonably and because the fact that I purchased them right before the Gx-cs4 was released and regretted it since not that the model 3 is not good . It’s a great compressor but hot weather causes it to struggle compressing longer fills .
I’m thinking about going for a one and done upgrade eventually like the 2 above mentioned compressors and getting a 6.8 tank .
It appears from reading the Tuxing dive compressor might fill quicker as it states 6.8 tank filled at a rate of under 30 minutes vs 45 for the Gx compressor but I like the fact that the Gx is watercooled for longevity plus having owned Gx compressors and knowing their quality makes it difficult to choose it out .
I was wondering does anyone out there have any experience with the blue Tuxing dive compressors . They have filtration standard and breathing quality air too . Electric or gas powered but I prefer the electric models . I wonder how getting parts for a tuxing would be as both are Chinese manufacturers I believe . How is he quality and longevity on the blue dive model Tuxing ? It appears to be a copied design of a coltri compressor design .Does anyone have any experience with either ?
