HW/Weihrauch  Twenty dimes! 177 Hw95 remains King.

This morning I shot my first Weihrauch. My 177 Hw95. I ran Five different tins of pellets through it with zero scope reticle adjustments.

View attachment 580625
It shot this target of five shot groups at 25 yards.
View attachment 580626
The worst group could be covered with a dime ctc.
View attachment 580627
After each set groups at 25 yards I shot two groups at 50 yards.
View attachment 580629
Two groups could be covered ctc with a quarter. Two ctc with a dime and one completely coverd with a dime.

I don't think I could do this well with any other air rifle I own. Especially across so many different pellets.

Thanks for letting me show off.

Be well
Ron
I'm enjoy your showing off!
That's great shooting from both of you! 👍

N/A  Webley Hurricane

I recently had my Tempest resealed, but I'm only getting 365 fps with Hobbys. I do get 425 fps with 5 gr RWS. Something is off, but I have no idea.
Don't forget the RWS 5 grainers are going to be a good 2 grains lighter than the Hobby and should be coming out in the upper 400s or even 500 when at 5 grains. This means nothing is wrong with the Hobby selection here.
From your information the gun is a good 50 fps down on only average potential.

N/A  Do most suppressors clip?

I have had clipping two times. One was operator error, didn't finish tightening the moderator down. The other was a commercially 3D printed moderator and I'm not sure why.

Given how many moderators I have, 16 or so, clipping should not happen. If it does my prime suspect would be the mount. As was explained above a shroud mounted moderator without solid connection to the barrel would be the most obvious. The alternative is something altering the pellet trajectory at exit from the barrel. That could be a damaged pellet or a pellet with a defect making it unbalanced.

we dont need no stinking sling studs!
Mine was more like: "Ok, I don't have any at hand, so let me get creative." kind of a situation 😂

there will be no partridge in a pear tree this xmas
Not sure about the reference here, Hmm, is it a Proverb maybe?

much prefer using an air gun to hunt birds head shots and no picking out lead pellets from the meat.
Hi, I think I'm not that good of a shooter to begin with, but it also isn't easy to do so after crouching or running up hills for a while, and these guns are not laser accurate, so I didn't risk it, but as you said, it's preferred.
About the pellet getting stuck in the meat, it happens maybe less than 5% of the time for me; It's always a clean pass through because the gun is 4.5mm.

Also whats with the tape holding your gun together ?
It's protecting the stock and barrel from scratches caused by stones; the gun is fine, held together by bolts.

This is the terrain:

So you can imagine the land is not very kind to a beautiful marriage of steel and wood, hence the need for protection.

American Air Arms  Any skilled machinist out there?

Im looking for someone to take on a project. I bought a AAA slayer 357 on the classifieds awhile back and it quit holding air. I opened it up to replace some orings and found out the lower reciever had been damaged and then fixed with epoxy. I had around 100 shots and 4 week with it before it wouldnt hold air anymore.

I tried getting a new lower from tom but that didnt work out so my next option is to see if someone skilled can handle it. I would hate to have to throw it in the trash so if you or someone you know can help me out that'd be great.

A machine shop with a skilled tig welder and lathe operator could possibility repair it. Im a welder ive done hundreds of repairs on non replaceable parts. Shaft journals, bearing surfaces, bores etc.

N/A  Do most suppressors clip?

I've experienced clipping with two rifles/suppressors. Both suppressors are DannyFl, one rifle is AV bullpup and one is Hatsan Bullboss, both .25 cal. It seems that it doesn't take many bumps on the suppressors to cause them to clip.

Is this typical?

If so, why? Is the suppressor construction that flimsy? Is their attachment just too weak?

Of course, one could keep boring them out until they no longer clipped, but at the cost of more noise.

Your thoughts and experiences? Thanx.
I had the same problem with DonnyFl ,30 cal

American Air Arms  Any skilled machinist out there?

I’m not sure I see a fracture, I see what appears to me as expoxy buildup edge that might appear as a fracture to others.

I do, however, see what appears to be damage to an area that I think may be the sealing surface you are talking about. ?? Just guessing though, because I don’t have experience with this gun. I marked it up below, if that isn’t where the seal problem is, please explain more.

If it is where the seal problem is, why is there epoxy buildup in a non-sealing area. My opinion is that epoxy type products do not have a use in pressure vessel applications.

Other  American made springers

None currently in production. The Sig ASP20 was an anomaly since it was the only high end piston driven rifle made in the US in recent memory. It's unlikely that you'll see another one either, since there's far more interest in the PCP market and it's more financially viable for manufacturers.

The high end options will all be European.

Airforce  Condor Threaded Slug Barrel

Very generous offer. Do you know how many thousandths the choke removes? I'm guessing it varies from .22 to .25.

The OEM .25 barrel on my Condor SS slugs out at 0.245 in the imparted grooves (so lands of the rifling) if pushed all the way through the choke. Tight choke. When stopping far short of the choke, no daylight can be see around the edges of slugs that are dropping out of the mold at 0.249.

LW reports a bore of 0.248 and grooves of 0.254 on their website, and no specs for a choke, but those stated specs always seem to be more of either a guestimate, or perhaps an average.

New Scope or Not (Hawke vs Athlon)

If you buy the second focal plane version- yes! But the FFP version reticl will be very tiny at 16X
I'm surprised the FFP reticle would be so small at 16X on a 6x24 scope. That would be 2/3 of the full 24X reticle. I've never seen this scope at 16X so I don't doubt you, just surprised.
