N/A  New to PCPs

I did contact Jes about getting some of his slugs but unfortunately, a part broke in his .22 cal tooling, and he is currently waiting on a part that does the hollowpoints, so I'll check back with him in a month.
In the meanwhile you have so much fun stuff to figure out and decide… the main thing id say is just shoot a lot… my experience has been that the gun does get better with some breaking in… and as I’ve mentioned before the factory lube is crap. I really feel like the whole action got snappier when I relubbed the hammer spring and valve body/poppet… I have really grown to love the tuning side and I’m actually sad my barra is almost done haha.

Oh man that’s a bummer for everyone. Jes is absolutely top shelf though so he’ll get you sorted out eventually. Honestly I think it’s better this way. When you do get some slugs from him you’ll notice the difference.

Good job brother I really like my rifle. I think you get a lot of rifle for the money. It’s just like anything it’s made by man and we’re not perfect but your tenacity and patience. It’s paying off the numbers you’re getting now are very close to what I get a 2000 psi The good thing. Is you eat a lot of the hard work already so I think you’re well in your way to be a happy customer please let us know how it goes. Thank you and good night.
Completely agree. My other gun is a 250z that I swear can out shoot a lot of guns that cost twice as much… why? Because it’s good design but isn’t always perfectly made. Also I’ve gone over every inch of it, polishing, lubing and sometimes modifying.

Well! I think I have solved the problem.

When I disassembled the poppet valve and body, the valve body was ~ 0.080" from fully seated. I'd noticed that when I got it, but didn't know enough to recognize it as a problem. Not being fully seated means that the valve stem wasn't sticking out far enough for the hammer to drive it fully open. Worse, it was loose, so it may have been moving a bit while the rifle was being shot.

I dug out a picture of the day it arrived back June 4. The circled area shows the gap.

Here's what it looks like properly screwed in:

With it screwed in properly, I did some chrono testing...about an hour ago. At 1100psi reg, I got over 730fps...I knew I'd done something right. I hit 900fps at around 1900psi (.25 cal, 33.9g AEA pellets). First time this rifle has shown what it can do!

So, I aired it back up to 4300psi, set the reg to 2000psi and shot a magazine. Max 930fps, Min 903, 28fps drop, SD 7.94...26 shots.

I'm a happy guy! Now I can go out and see what all those slugs I bought can do. :D
F*** yes bro! Love to hear that. Way to push through and figure it out.

New Cometa in walnut & brass trigger!

Charles..... Have you received any Cometa rifles lately? I am in the market. Any way you have an in-stock list available?
Thanks much, Kurt
About a year ago just been playing with other air guns this year, as I have about 17
Cometa rifles and like them all, Charles

Other  Why so many .25 cal. for sale?

If there are more 0.25 for sale it's because people have more of them.

Just same as there are more Toyotas for sale than Cadillacs because more people own Toyotas.

I remember there was a {DMV?} study that said 77% of the car accidents happen within 15 miles of their homes. Someone may conclude that people drive more casually close to their homes, but the reality is that most people simply drive mostly within 15 miles of their homes, hence more likelihood of accidents happening within that radius.

If you look at Pelletshop right now, they are out of 0.25 caliber for M4 compact, 0.22 is still available.

Karma  .25 Karma EQ has arrived!

I posted an EQ trigger update the other day. Took it apart, stoned the sear smooth, reassembled, shortened the 1st stage travel, got it breaking reliably at 15oz (but raised it to 1lb 4oz as it was too light for me). Breaking cleanly. No, not an Anschutz-grade trigger but I'm happy with it. The matching sear surface on the hammer bar needs stoning too but it looks like a PITA to get out. If I do that, I think I could get it down to ~10oz. Again, not a fine match-grade trigger system.

Granted, It is certainly one of the most fiddly trigger systems I've ever worked with. I have some ideas on how to fix that...
Thanks trap,
im getting to not hate the gun and will get to the trigger again.
I hope I don’t bring more suffering down on myself but just bought the
Red Panda in .22

N/A  What’s the most beautiful airgun you’ve owned?

Hard to say on the most beautiful, probably an FX Tarantula but can't find photos of mine on new phone. Here's a mix of old school classics and some newer guns. Of these the Sheridan Slab stock is probably may favourite for its svelte shape and nice walnut.

David, I'd sacrifice a pinky finger for that TX200 Tyro.

I have to ask; When you are shooting for accuracy

I shoot sitting, using a stool at a bench or table, a bipod, and NO rear rest, just my right shoulder and left hand supporting the butt.

If my first shot at 50 yards hits clean* inside the 10 ring of an N50 target bull, then that shot is accurate. I do that 24 more times and that is precision, meaning I am skilled, experienced, and knowledgeable enough to adjust my POA to compensate for conditions and each time get a clean hit inside the 10 ring.

I score by - number of clean hits inside the 10 ring divided by 25 bulls.

25 out 25 means I am a "Precision Shooter".

20 to 24 clean hits means I am an "Accurate Shooter".

19 or less means I wasted a day at the range.

* Clean; Pellet hits inside the 10 ring and does NOT touch the inner edge of the ring.

Hit is scored using a Freeland's plug of the same caliber as the pellet being shot.

By "10 Ring" l mean the thick ring.

Have you found that “ One Airgun”?

I’ve been lucky that I’ve found ”two” PCPs that do what I practically require. A .22 Atomic and Pathfinder XR they both simply perform outsize my expectations. The sweet aspect of threads like these is how many other nice PCPs are out there. I enjoy reading the reasons their owners feel as they do. But to keep to the spirit of the OPs‘ question… Darn it! If I was “forced” to choose only one? It would be my super sweet Atomic XR…
