FX  Newbie Caliber Question

I agree that the .25 puts more energy on target but I've found that the .22 caliber to be more that adequate if you make a proper shot. Either way, a poor hit is not good and I don't think that a .25 will do much better than a .22 in that situation.

For long range shooting I'd lean towards the .25, for iguanas at moderate ranges the .22 for shot count. Presuming you would be shooting iguanas in a populated area you would likely be tuning to lower power so the .25 would have no real advantage.

You mentioned competition and hunting which have pretty much opposite requirements. I have both an Impact and Panthera (.22/700mm). The Impact is suitable for both applications where I see the Panthera more as a bench gun. You will have to decide what is more important to you... or buy both 😉

Lots of fine PCPs on the market, it's best to take your time and look around. I've had good performance from my FX airguns and plan on picking up an FX Leopard for longer range bench shooting (100 to 128 yards) when they are available locally.

I'm in the same caliber selection situation as you - I'm thinking .22/700mm for economic reasons but might just go for a .25/700mm because of the range. Decisions, decisions eh? 🤪

Good luck with your choice!

Cheers!

Degassed, pulled the reg, cleaned, polished the little crossbar but didn't have a spanner screwdriver to access the washer stack. Put it all back together and ran about 150 pellets thru her. Regulator creep is now gone, it didn't move a hair from 1000psi to 2000psi (in 200psi increments). As soon as my spanner screwdriver set arrives, I'll take it all down again, regrease, etc.

I'm still having velocity issues. I can't get even the light pellets (.25 X 25.39 pellets) above 850fps...no matter what I try. I've verified the Xfer port is wide open, Hammer Spring has been adjusted thru its entire range at a variety of reg. pressures. Tonight I went thru the reg. from 2000psi to 3000psi (33.9 pellets). Highest velocity was 824fps. I'm becoming more and more convinced that I have a restriction somewhere...valve body maybe? @3000psi reg. pressure, I should be having to boost the hammer spring just to get the valve to open. Hammer spring adjustments don't do squat...other than cause the velocity to drop.

My final string of 21 shots this evening @ 3000psi reg press (33.9g pellet) actually climbed 23fps (817 to 841). That's a first. If I was at 2000psi reg pressure, I would start some fine tuning to get a flat spot in the graph...but it should be shooting those 33.9 pellets @900fps at 2000psi. No reg creep @ 3000psi...I guess that's a plus.
Hmmm that’s interesting. I’m no expert that does sound valve related…. Also pray for me I ordered my EQ today in .30 cal.

You were definitely motivated to eliminate that fox.
He was getting into the chicken coop so he had to go… beautiful coat but especially the tail.

At the time I almost felt bad. Now that I’ve been doing a lot more coyote calling in this area I find them rather annoying. They love to come to the call and just linger around like a wet fart. Bobbing their heads up and down eyes just shining away in the NV… but it’s never the red foxes which are open season all year long. Nope it’s the grays that you gotta have a furbearers for and there’s a season. Mine was in season but as a legit pest but even so I couldn’t do anything with the pelt. My buddy tanned it for me and it’s just chillin at my house. I wouldn’t sell it even if I could.

Huben  If you can only have one and cannot resell: Hubens K1 OR Daystate Delta Wolf?

The evidence of this claim ?? Electronics are pretty rock solid these days. Ghost after owning a DW I am sure is 100% great. My problem was used DW and used ghost sell for about the same price. Felt I got a lot more for my money in the DW.
Regarding electronics, my line of thought is that this is more of an issue with the company than the electronics. With a company like Daystate, I imagine that they will keep making the electronics decades from now. I saw someone post a 17 year old Daystate with electronic trigger and I believe the parts are still available.

Of course, I conjecture. Others know better than me what Daystate is like.

thanks a lot, i have been looking for the real part numbers
i need a spring also but i believe that spring is used on the sear
I can’t find a part number for the spring but believe it’s one of these two. Also, check and see if you can get item number 19 (sear). Specify (see it’s got the * next to it) it is for the 853c. This sear holds the hammer back just a tiny bit further. The actuator needs this to align the clip to the barrel.

What springer did you shoot today?

Great story @jkingrph . I bought my 124 from someone on another forum. Had been his dad’s gun and he was very happy it was going to be used again. Besides it being a wonderful rifle, that makes me smile every time I shoot it. Diana 45 today. Quirky little gun and not sure they get the love they deserve. One of the best things about this gun is that it came with a Diana 75! That’s actually the gun I drove up to get. Sorry so and so saw me coming and put several other rifles in his truck, including the Diana 45 ha ha ha.
