Daystate  How to Take A BLACK WOLF Shroud Off? (SOLVED)

I’m the one who told you to twist and it works for me. Didn’t seem especially tight.
I have been getting fliers randomly with my .22 BW to the point that I took it in to AOA and they pulled the shroud, pulled the barrel and checked everything and got it to shoot a good group at 20 yards. I have not been able to replicate that even though I can do it with my RW so it’s not me.
Today I shot with shroud off and on and grouping is worse than ever - 6” and not consistent shot to shot although I did get three shots out of 25 to touch (and then the fourth was inches away).
I looked at barrel and muzzle with Borescope and don’t see clipping but barrel seems to be very leaded so I’m going to clean it (again) and maybe polish it.
Suggestions or ideas appreciated
What is your barrel length on your 22?

That $13.91 fill probe comes to a total of $102.39, thank you very much

I have done this with every airgun I have. I keep them (guns) in cases ( they all are in a climate controlled basement & are handled/ inspected almost daily)& have the
probe attached to the microbore whip , the probe lubed w/ silicone & stored in a small plastic ziplock bag. This way everything stays with the gun and is ready
at all times . No need for separate storage or lost items. Yes ,this means purchasing a hose & fittings ,included in the purchase of all new guns. Just my way of organization.
I'm going to have to start doing this w all of my probes

I have one probe on a dedicated whip and it's definately way more convenient...and cheaper than lost probes

Seneca/Sam Yang  Dragon claw 2

Hey folks the dragon claw 2, just as effective with the iron sights or no way needs a scope .what you folks think??
, Well how good are your eyes , what do you intend to use the gun for & what range can YOU actually shoot accurately w/ open sights ? Not being a smart
a%#, just laying it out like I would for myself .

Dreaming of this scope

That makes sense, my only problem with finding a perfect scope is I won’t have anything to complain about. More importantly I won’t have that as an excuse, no excuses is a rather uncomfortable situation IMHO.🤣

That being said! I think you mentioned you are in HFT class and interestingly it makes scope choices rather difficult due to the constraints of 14x magnification especially when it comes to ranging to put it mildly as a self proclaimed scope snob. Your list of wishes aligns with my selection criteria very closely.

Here is my list for HFT scope selection:
1. FFP, since I use ballistic calculator having FFP saves a lot of confusion and headache.
2. 16x-20x MAX. Due to FFP changes the reticle size 16-20x FFP at 14x gives most usable reticle size. Also scopes range better at or near the max magnification
3. Biggest objective lens possible, most at 40-50 but 56mm would be better. Bigger the objective lens the narrower the depth of field and better at ranging. This aligns with your S3 base as it has unusually large objective lens for the main tube size and magnification but glass is on par with coke bottle. Lower magnification(below 20x) almost never comes with 56mm objective lens, which is why I think getting the “perfect” HFT scope to my liking is almost impossible or at least VERY expensive.

For me in HFT the rest of your list like turrets are personal preference as you don’t touch them. In the lower price point I found the old element helix 6-24 does an admirable job especially at the price point. On the high end the S6 might work but MOA only right now. The new element titan 3-18 might work out well too, but haven’t had the chance to try one but I’m tempted to for other reasons.

Lastly, the problem with high end scopes is they are not made for this quirky requirement of HFT use case and have way too much magnifications. Even looking at March’s and other tier 1 scopes at north of $4000 price point, I still can’t pick one to use for HFT. Which makes a perfectly awesome excuse for me and my wallet, what did they say about the journey vs the destination again?😅
@steve123 - S&B states 10 meter parallax focus… at 16x will it focus at 10 yards?
Nightforce is similar but it is not perfect at 10 yards

New to HFT and looking for advice on Pellets

I found the AA and JSB 13.43's in 22 to be better than the 14.35's. I shot some of my best (and worst) FT matches with a 22. The worst was due to two tins of pellets shooting lights out indoors (1/2" groups at 55y) to full on miserable sized groups in the Alabama weather (Nationals).

My biggest issue with 22 in FT was that I was using an unregulated USFT and keeping at the 20.0 ft-lbs limit (this was before the 2% leeway rule). Every fps over 20 ft-lbs increased the accuracy of the combo greatly so it was tempting to risk shooting hot over the chorny in the middle of a fill to eeek out as many fps as possible to gain some additional accuracy during a match.

I've repurchased the same barrel (a two groove Benchmark benchrest barrel in stainless steel) and some 22 ammo to test in my regulated Thomas... I already tried to get four LW barrels in 20 cal to work, non-poly LW barrels appear to be absolute trash (being generous the best one was shooting 3/4" groups at 35 yards indoors).

You may find it difficult to detune your current rifle and have it be consistent for FT...

Typically we tune the pellet speed to the rifle (find which speed works best), for FT its the opposite, you have to have things that work at the velocity your limited to. Those 22 13.43 JSB pellets really like going closer to 900fps than 800fps so if you rifle doesn't shoot them well at 818 (835 at 2% over) or lower you're kind of screwed...
Use your Google and search engine and find airgun energy calculator
Enter your Pellets weight and speed and voila - you will have a answer

Would be cheaper to leave it attached to the fill line, even if you have to purchase a extra line..

Oh the package that gets hung up in Chicago customs for a year or so ..

That pcp ..lol. Racket .. youd think they could make the probes universal fit or just go foster.
We just need to be sure that if we order anything that it can fit in an untracked envelope, LOL

I ordered a part from Best Fittings out of the UK last year and you'd think it was used for nuclear enrichment the lengths I had to go to get it delivered.

One probe to rule them all probably makes too much sense to ever happen.

Huben  If you can only have one and cannot resell: Hubens K1 OR Daystate Delta Wolf?

And all these mention of possible problems and other bs is why i said ghost straight forward highly adjustable and simply built and very solid and trouble free. You want 1 high end gun that will go the distance there you go 👻

What springer did you shoot today?

Danced with a couple different frauleins tonight. FWB 124 .177 and Diana 56TH .177. FWB is such a smooth, elegant, easy to cock little rifle. The 56TH is its polar opposite, but man is it accurate. Both are a joy to shoot.

View attachment 578508
I have had my first FWB 124d a little over 50 years now, and picked up a second late last year. I was always amazed at the ease of cocking, accuracy and power. It was not long after I got that 124 from ARH in W. Va, that I spotted a Williams receiver sight at Beemans and put one of those on. I was in the USAF at the time in base housing. so I would shoot in one bedroom down the hall into another bedroom. I did not have a proper rest, so would set a dining room chair in the bedroom, sit on the floor and use the chair as a rest. I was probably shooting at about 15-18 yards max. but little one hole groups were common. I have increased my collection or accumulatin of air rifles a lot in the ensuing years, but those remain among my favorites.
I remember the hype about the power, so tested it I think with silver jet pellets against a 1" (3/4") white pine board, and at about six inches from the muzzle it would completely penetrate the board.

Stoeger S3000 .177

Just received the rifle and mounted a much better scope and what a fun an easy to cock rifle and very accurate too both. Four the money it is in a very nice wood stock and is very close to my several HW30 and that not an easy task. Charles
Here’s a photo of the rifle! Charles

Crazy theory but maybe huma just puts some crazy upcharge in their so no one here buys some of the smaller items because they are tired of dealing with the blowback from customers here over after the fact charges ?? I don’t know. I know A of A has been out of a small o ring kit for a long time supplied by Huma. Almost like they won’t send them or they just won’t come in 🤷‍♂️
