Spring piston rifle scope not holding zero

@Byahkin - Might be a good time to upgrade your scope and rings.

This a decent scope that is springer rated

One piece Leapers mount

Springer vs pcp

That’s cool. You were very fortunate to get that angle for the kill shot.
I know, in my experience, you rarely get that opportunity when the critter lines up just right and the crosshairs are on the right spot.
Well done.
Yes sir that took work! I spent a few nights figuring out exactly which direction he was coming from and then I had to make my own blind using a tent’s green rain fly and some pine boughs… then I had to spend 4 nights freezing my a$$ off hiding in that blind before I got him… definitely a powder burner would have been way easier but even though I live on 6 acres it’s technically still town so no shooting allowed.

I still agree with your point though. I just wanted to point out that the power level of an airgun is only limiting if you’re not willing to find ways of mitigating that factor.

Skout  Skout EVO precision with slugs

What a funky gun because 3 days later I went to try to air it up in the chance it wouldn't leak and guess what, now the darn thing takes all 4000 psi so I've been putting lead down range?! Last Wednesday I let some other guys shoot it and there's no challenge on a larger steel at 150Y in 10-15 mph winds. I took a few shots and was hitting the leg of a full size ram. I did miss it a few times left and right but the ones that hit made a small group.

BTW the trigger is working normally again.

I bought a bunch of steel to set on my property. They are the Shooting Target 7 NRL22 AR500 semi spinners. Have 11 total because they gave me two because I surpassed the money amount they set. Anyway I can't recommend these enough and a "far superior" system used than any company selling steel so far.

I tried Zan 28gr slugs yesterday for the first time and NOPE it wouldn't work out because of huge flyers. 2-3 touching at 100Y and then one 4" away. It only took 15 shots to abandon the notion of using these. I'll try Zan 33gr next.

Man those Altaros 32.2 grain shoot well as usual. My farthest steel is 132Y away and I was able to put in some 1" to 1.2" groups with 3-4 out of 5 making a large splat. This was in the wind too. That .18 G1 BC makes quite a big difference at 49 fpe!
When this gun works it's impressive!

POI shifts from different shooting sessions are small or not present which is a positive reason I like the gun. I've been laying the gun on both sides because of how and where I store it and also with some other guns on top of it with a blanket in between them so I haven't been nice to it. If I ever take it to a match again it'll be in topmost place a few days before though.

N/A  New to PCPs

Hey. One more question that I forgot to ask. When doing my chronograph testing, overall the velocities were super consistent. Like within a couple FPS either way. But on a couple occasions, one shot out of the string would drop a full 10 fps. Would that be an indicator that it needs a little more tension on the hammer spring?
More than likely those pellets were slightly heavier than advertised… the further you get into the hobby you’ll see some talk about “sorting and weighing” pellets… it’s mostly for competition shooters and long range shooters but it’s to minimize deviations like that.

HW/Weihrauch  Stainless HW guys

I have a HW50 (new style wood stock) with a stainless coating, it is definitely not galvanic, but in any case it is more practical than the usual one, it is not afraid of water.
nickel alloy is most likely might be some variant of a Cerakote but i doubt that .

Springer vs pcp

I am looking to get an air rifle for pest control up to the size of foxes or coyotes. I like the idea of a pcp but I don’t have it in the budget to get a big tank or a compressor so I would have to a hand pump. I would need the gun ready for when I needed it, can you leave a pcp charged for an extended period time or would it damage it?
There are no spring guns IMO that can ethically be thought to be useful on a coyote. I have taken coyotes with my .25 M-Rod set to near maximum power, .25, 34 grain pellet at 960 fps which is around 70 fpe and far more than any spring gun can generate.

You would be better off to get a good .22 rifle, a properly acquired, tax stamp legal .22 PB suppressor and some CCI Suppressor or Subsonic HP or Segmented rounds and even then coyotes can be tough, heck, even raccoons can be tougher, the big one can put up a fuss.
