yep.... and to be fair, I dont consider elevation (if that was the shimming you referred to) as an issue. I've shimmed many a rings... but the two instances I mentioned were windage related. I got rid of a ton of rings a couple Hickory shows ago. Literally giving some away to folks. That was 2-3 years ago and I again have a box full of various rings. Seems I always need a different set for whatever I'm doing. Part of the fun of the hobby!
Stopped having to shim when I started using adjustable rings.

Never had issue with windage but I haven't shot further than 50 yards more than 3 or 4 times in the last 15 years.

GX CS4-I shutting off

My CS4 has been great for the last year. But I have only been using it to fill guns. I recently acquired an SCBA tank and since I started filling the tank, the compressor will shut off. I don’t know if it is some kind of fault protection but when I try to press the start button again it won’t start. If I relieve all of the pressure allow the fan to run and cool it down and unplug it and let it sit for a few minutes and plug it back in everything works fine. I am usually running it for 30 to 45 minutes when topping off the SCBA. Also it won’t fill the bottle past 4200 psi. Fills tubes and bottles on guns to 4500 no problem but just can’t seem to get that number on the SCBA.

Other  thoughts on "tactical" vs traditional rifle

"tactical"

I really despise this look . Reminds me of the Armed Forces , and the Karen's think your carrying a "AR" killing machine . I would bet if you set up a table in a Mall with 10 tactical guns on it AND 9 of them were Air guns , 99 percent of the people would say they are ALL AR15's military guns designed to kill .

Yes i know the tactical stock is designed to be rugged , easily exchange parts of a real "AR " and have a working gun again in the battle field .
Reminds me of when i was a kid and wanted a real looking 6 shooter cowboy gun and Daisy complied .
The only beef I really have is that they go so far out of their way to make a gun look tactical that it no longer has anything to do w actual function. And as durability goes there is nothing rugged about air guns...especially in comparison to the real thing. So yeah, it's often down to just looks.

Anyone who's actually humped a M16 around for any length of time will probably opt out of the tactical look. Just sayin

I have no idea of what you mean.
I would never order too many of anything or order the wrong rings.

1 box, there is another with dovetail cantilever. And a couple scopes

Daystate  How to Take A BLACK WOLF Shroud Off? (SOLVED)

I’m the one who told you to twist and it works for me. Didn’t seem especially tight.
I have been getting fliers randomly with my .22 BW to the point that I took it in to AOA and they pulled the shroud, pulled the barrel and checked everything and got it to shoot a good group at 20 yards. I have not been able to replicate that even though I can do it with my RW so it’s not me.
Today I shot with shroud off and on and grouping is worse than ever - 6” and not consistent shot to shot although I did get three shots out of 25 to touch (and then the fourth was inches away).
I looked at barrel and muzzle with Borescope and don’t see clipping but barrel seems to be very leaded so I’m going to clean it (again) and maybe polish it.
Suggestions or ideas appreciated
I was having the same problem, I finally got it to shoot good, I have set my reg at 110 bar and white spring at PL 15 with 22 18.13 I have 23” barrel 50 yards

N/A  New to PCPs

I know slugs are the cool thing to shoot and I've messed around with them too but you don't really need them for rabbits. I think I used my little 18 fpe Prod for the last one I killed. Worked fine. You could lower your regulator to shoot lighter weight pellets and gain shot count but if you don't want to I would stick with the ones that don't go faster than about 925 fps. I just shot a nice target this evening with cheap old Crosman 14.3s at 925 fps from my Bullshark. They would drop a rabbit very quickly. But so will a 20-25 grain pellet. You might want to add H&N Baracuda 21 grain to your list if you don't find a winner from what you already have. They shoot the best from my P35-22. I killed a small raccoon with them (and 10 squirrels so far, all DRT).

JSB or Crosman?

This is a bit of an odd situation but I am honestly trying to decide whether I want to shoot JSB 18.1 grain or Crosman 14.3 grain pellets from my new-to-me Bullshark 22. I started shooting the Crosmans early when I was trying to get the regulator working just because they are cheap. But I noticed they were grouping pretty well. So I tried a 30 yard challenge target with them and I think it was a 194. I shot a 193 with them this evening in 10 mph winds. Earlier today I shot a 195 with the JSBs and I shot a 198 with the JSBs a couple weeks ago so I think they shoot better. But is maybe another 3-4 points worth roughly double the pellet cost? The Crosmans are flying about 925 and the JSBs about 875 fps. The tune was really selected for the JSBs, it just happens to work well with the Crosmans. It is even possible I could get a little more out of the Crosmans by sorting them and tweaking the tune.

I need to at least test some of the new Spanish Crosmans to make sure it likes them too but if it does, what would you do? I could also test FX 18.1 and they will probably shoot like the JSBs but they cost almost as much too. I kind of like having a gun set up for cheap pellets even though it may not be my best target shooter.

What would you do?

14.35 JSB for 16 Best deal i can find at the moment. the 14.3 Crosman Premier domed are great with that gun as well.

POI shift ?

Thread title: POI Shift?
The original purposed question by the O.P.
“But from day to day or whatever time frame you pick is it that uncommon”?

For the experienced, educated skilled shooter, employing quality equipment, ammo & wrote technique “Yes it is uncommon”.
The greatest challenge lies in compensating for atmospherics which will indeed change your POI most noticeably at distance.

Shooting in the same location, under like conditions, I have never experienced POI shift with quality equipment. I have hunted game with a kill zone the size of a walnut for 50 years at distances out to 150 yards and never experienced a noticeable POI change wether it be an airgun or a PB.

As to parallax - my scopes have no adjustment for that nor is it needed or even desired in my application. The scope has a fixed parallax at 100 yards and yet the only time it gets fuzzy is about 25 yards and in but still clear enough for a kill shot. As long as your eye is centered in the scope every time with the proper cheek weld you can throw Parallax out the window. The marketing and falsified information is out of control.

As to zeroing - anything more than a one shot zero, followed by a confirmation shot or two, is a waste of time and good quality ammo!

What works for me might not work for you but I think you would have to agree quality equipment & its earned reputation plays a major role.

RadioFlyer
Size of a walnut at 150 yards? Wow. MOA. Skill obviously up to snuff. What is your equipment?

I did shim a $15 cantilever once. But the scope was the 3-9x40 that came on a Gamo or Umarex break barrel. So no telling where the problem originated.

N50 at 100 “In The Rings” Slug Challenge

Heck, I only managed to rope in one regular RF only ( no airgun) shooting friend to start shooting some 2-man N50 RF matches. Most of the RF .22 bench shooters like shooting steel at 50, 100, and 150Y. None of those guyes have air guns. I am one of two, out of a thousand members at a private gun club who regularly shoots both air guns and RF.

Best of luck, but my sense is Mike is right here. Most of the CF and RF shooters are intimidated by the cost of the AG hobby.

And, are not interested in 100Y paper target challenges.

PCP Rifle  WTT Katran Wood .177 Tube

Recently got this in a trade and shoots great, tuned for the Mk3 Knockout slugs at 970FPS for 21FPE. Feels great and shoulders well but its longer then I want so looking to trade for something shorter can be .177 or .22. Let me know what you have and see if we can work something out. Comes with the 2 mags, fill probe, arca mount and picatinny mount.

I've had two instances where cheap rings failed me. Both times, the scope appeared to run out of adjustment. This has happened before and I would reverse the rings and all good, but twice they were so bad that I had to trash them. Twice, but I've probably gone through a couple hundred rings of various types so I'm still a fan of the cheap rings.

The latest was with a .17 HMR, not an airgun. Had some ultra cheap rings on and couldnt get enough windage out of the scope. Reset, optically centered the scope and tried again. Same result. Swapped rings around to the other side and still wonky. Tossed them and got a 'decent' set. Monstrum rings that were around $30. I will admit that I've spent near 50 bucks before for some specialty rings, but $200? Nah... Got some $50 rings on my 6.5 Cmoor and I can bust a 6 inch steel plate with it at 900 yards. Dont need much more than that.

Hikmicro Alpex 4K LRF - How to Buy in the USA

Dan,

What one has to do in the USA is to setup an VPN on your PC or smart phone that will let you select the country where you want the IP address to be used. Once you have a country outside USA (and Canada) selected and the VPN established, then you can get to the Hikmicro website and also you can go to the app store for your device and download the app.
Pfddi, I just received a Lite version from Huma.
Do you still run yours as described above? Is it something
you could explain how to do ?
thanks, Mike
