Other  Why so many .25 cal. for sale?

I imagine it's just the downside to the previous trend. It seemed like for the past 3-4 years all you'd hear is about people buying .25 cal rifles. The arguments didn't make a whole lot of sense to me. I certainly understand why someone would want a .25 cal, but I always suspected many of those purchases were just fad purchases and not really well-motivated. That's my guess.

RTI  RTI P3 leak in barrel ?

Can you go into this thought a little deeper? Cock the P-3 then fill to 300B and then release hammer manually or dry fire? Does this just need to be done once for his gun or every time? Cool trick just trying to learn. Thank you.
Yes, On many PCP rifles, if the hammer is "not cocked", they will leak air through the poppet valve and through the barrel, the poppet valve is the main Valve that holds the air back from the barrel chamber, if the hammer is not cocked and resting on the poppet shaft, it might have enough spring tension to hold the Poppet valve open slightly, by cocking the hammer releases the tension on the Poppet shaft and allows the Valve to close allowing the air to be held back filling the guns air cylinder, you can then release the hammer manually by pulling the cocking mechanism back holding it while pulling the trigger and slowly moving the cocking mechanism back to the the closed breach position,
this is only needed when the gun is empty of air pressure,
as I said this happens to many other PCP rifles and is common, backing off the hammer spring tension can reduce this from occurring, but may affect the power output of the gun, tuning the regulator pressure higher may compensate for any power loss.

N/A  High shot count .177s?

Taipan Veteran Standard, first gen.

If you can find one in .177, sure. You're looking at 130-140+ shots per fill if it's around 19fpe, which is plenty of energy for the birds and rabbits you mention.

If you can't find one in .177, a .22 tuned down to the same power level will be just as appropriate for your uses. And about the same shot counts....call it 100 shots per fill. Use pellets in the 13-14grain weight and you're just as safe as a similarly powered .177.

(A "Short" will still get you 85-90 shots per fill @ 19fpe, simply due to he shorter airtube).

And since these are tubed guns, hand pumping is doable.

Airgun Technologies  Vulcan 3 barrel

Got the vulcan 3 500. Would love to be able to change barrel length like other guns.agt don't just sell a barrel you got to buy the complete gun.Has anyone done this by using a different barrel 🤔 even if you have to have it engineered to fit
The only one that has 14mm barrels or liners is TJ any twist you might need
. or you could have the tooling made to your needs at pacific tooling, after that you will needto send that tooling to TJ so he could make the barrel, then you need competent machinists to do the work .. fx liners with some minor custom work might do the job to .. any othe barrel will need serious machining to get it to size where the notches clamp the barrel..

FX  Wildcat consistency problems

I haven't shot my WC for a few days, maybe 4 days, and I picked it up today to try it out and fired 3 shots to see if there is any creep in the system, 893, 891, 897 fps guess it's looking pretty good, no creep at all.
I've tuned it somewhat to shoot 25fr MRDs at right at 896 fps, so I'm looking good.

Taipan  Taipan Slash first tuning report.

I think it's a bit scummy to advertise a high-power airgun, and then lock the max power setting behind a paywall. Especially for an airgun in this price range. The high-power kit should've been included in the box.

Anyway, I'm still waiting for those range reviews. So far there is still only 1 video on youtube where someone actually shoots it.

Springer vs. PCP

Jonnes, you have a nice air rifle and that is a very good target. But shooting one nice group is not like touching a 1/8th inch 10 ring 20 times. Those of us that shoot the 30 yard challenge target have observed that many times. I've shot smaller groups than that but it doesn't prove much. I want me and my guns to be able to consistently hit what I shoot at. That is what benchrest shooting is all about. Groups are great for testing pellets but they are not like shooting a benchrest target.

I remain unconvinced, in other words. The pdf for the target is on the thread but if you want I'll put it in a pm if you ask. You just print it out and "waste" a few pellets. I hope you find it to be fun and do well. But if all you show me are nice groups I will be remain unconvinced your nice springer will shoot with even my inexpensive PCPs. I shot a 195 today with my Stoeger Bullshark in 22 caliber, for instance, in 5 mph winds. That gun has shot a 198 in my hands. I am not claiming to be a great shot, just providing examples of what I think a gun should be able to do to be considered very accurate.

Other  thoughts on "tactical" vs traditional rifle

For field use and general manipulation, I prefer the tacts… love the feel of the pistol grip. Shooting from ether side, etc… I do like traditional rifles the bulk of my PB rifles are tradtional… just prefer the versatility and ease of adding what you need and leaving out what you don’t…

Huben pistol.

So apparantly there are 2 new GK1 models coming out. The GK1 Mini (which is basically Huben's own take on the Shorty), and a .30 cal version. Not sure if the mini will also come in .30. The mini will come out end of summer 2025 in the US, and the .30 is still TBA.

Never thought Huben would actually make the jump to .30 cal, since they've been reluctant to do so for so long.

Oh and the K1 will also get a .30 version. You can get more details on Gregor's YouTube channel. Im curious how much power you can get out of it.

Other  thoughts on "tactical" vs traditional rifle

I love wood "furniture" on a gun! My FX Royale 500 & my FX Boss are my favorites. Even the new to me Edgun Matador r3 long has wood vs metal stock. There's just something personal about handling a gun that has a nicely worked piece of wood in my hands & cheek weld. Maybe it's because I'm old too (73).
I just can't get used to all metal parts. Not pleasing aesthetically either.

Can you recommend an informative, comprehensive and well written text book on air rifle shooting?

Although not a book, I have found a lot of information and advice reading Tom Gaylord's posts, which, besides reviews, has a lot of guidance on airguns use and maintenance. He has 687 posts. There are other resources too in the Pyramid Air Resources section. You can use the search function to research your topic.Gaylord just does a thorough job when he discusses a topic.

N/A  High shot count .177s?

So far I'm really liking my mighty chode. Just the ticket I needed for something scaled down to my Vet .25

Performance / build quality is beautiful. Not as refined as the Vet, but holds it's own (the AGT ping is for real). More than adequate power for what can be expected from such a small caliber.

The plan is to buy enough magazines to pre-load for sessions while zoning out doing something else. Loading in the woods is always more of a challenge (poor light) & those 177s are tiny in comparison. Between sausage fingers and my vision, droppage/ spillage is always a high risk and bummer. Id much rather pick up spilled pellets off of my living room floor carpet than out of forest duff.

this is the only one i can find... mine has one, does not PIIIIIIIIIING!.

I'm in love with mine. Did some really fine adjustment and spent time adjusting the valve housing screw and hammer tension. Got a spread under 11fps now, and to me, 1015fps with 15gr .1775 is sending the heat.

N50 at 100 “In The Rings” Slug Challenge

I have no interest in the 1 card final 100y pretendrest matches.

Looks like Pyramyd is gonna take a step closer to a real match by having a 2 card final with bench rotation. I applaud that, but still a ways to go.

Mike
I'm working on holding 3-6 card local matches. 3 relays in the morning, 3 in the afternoon. I was trying for this summer but I have to wait for September to gain membership at the club with the facilities to do so. 🤞

What pistol did you shoot today

I shot my Crosman 1701 S at 1/10th scale NRA Silhouette animals 10 chickens at 10 yds, 10 pigs at 12.5 yds, 10 turkeys at 15 yds and 10 Rams at 18 yds.

Results - 7/10 chickens, 8/10 pigs, 7/10 turkeys and 5/10 rams.

My animals are 1/4 inch thick and just about the limit for a 5 ft-lb pistol, but they go down and you don't have to chase them 10 feet to find them.

Nice shooting! Looks like lots of fun!
I have two sets of the 1/10 Silhos ordered from Quality Targets, should be here soon so I'll be giving them a try with my pistols.
Do you shoot offhand? One or two handed?
You didn't include a pic of your 1701P? Open sights or ?? I think I need one of those!!

HW/Weihrauch  Ok Weihrauch Airgunsmiths, I need some advice... HW35 Barrel Latch Worn

You got me wondering, so I just checked all mine with a good whack to try and break them open.
Years are 1956, '59, '68-69, late 70's, and a 1980. That's five HW35's and none broke open when tested.
Yours doesn't look like it's been overly used, so maybe there's rust or crud in the groove impeding a solid lock.
Good point. I'm gonna' tear it down for a better look.

HW/Weihrauch  Ok Weihrauch Airgunsmiths, I need some advice... HW35 Barrel Latch Worn

The barrel in the op’s picture almost looks like the barrel is rising upwards as if it was set off prematurely. This could have damaged the lock. Or maybe it’s not the original barrel. I’m sure back then these were hand fitted. Switching barrels could cause this. Like stated earlier this gun looks as if it was not heavily used. Could be just the angle.View attachment 578436
Yeah, it's the angle. The gun shoots straight. If anything, a little low, but certainly not high. There is visible wear on the face of the breech at the engagement point of the latch.
