If only I had the skill of a taxidermist!

My grandpa "pa" used to raise award winning Redbones when I was a kid. He had many dogs featured in coon hunters magazine. Tricycle Annie and a lot of her pups turned out to be amazing hunting dogs. Sus Vide, cock pot, and basting while slow smoking all have turned out great for me. Haven't tried many other ways but they are hard to beat in my opinion.
The best part of the hunt was sitting around the fire and listening to the dogs sing. Have not seen or met anyone who hunts with dogs in a long time. I will have to remember the crock pot the next time I get a shot at a coon. Mark

Pellet Groups at 100 yards

It’s because shooting airguns at 100 and beyond and trying to land projectiles on top of each other is an art form. Powder burner? Easy. A kid can do it.

Ha! Have you been to public rifle ranges? Most of them won't even try to shoot centerfire rifles at 100 yards. Most set their targets at 25 or 50 yards. And even then... shotgun pattern groups.

A few can shoot tighter groups. But 1-MOA or sub-MOA? Pretty rare.

But yeah... taught the right skills... a "kid" can do it. My daughter is one. This is at 300 yards:

Daughter-300-yard-e-target.jpg

To qualify to shoot the e-target range, she had to shoot a 3-inch or less 5-shot group at the 100 yard range. Here's how she did:

That all said... I'm new to air guns, and yeah... 100 yards is TOUGH to shoot a tight group. My first attempt at 100 yards with my brand new Marauder F&T... Humbling! I could see the flight of the pellet (and the effect of wind).

For comparison, here are some of my 100-yard targets with a centerfire rifle (all 5-shot groups):

What pellets to order?

I recently ordered some H&N Precision 22cal 33gr .218 slugs from Hatsan. I also ordered the same slugs from Pyramid about six weeks ago and Pyramid says that they haven't gotten their shipment in yet, but Hatsan sent me an email the day after placing the order saying that my slugs are on their way. Why did Hatsan have the product I wanted, but Pyramid cant get them for themselves? One note, the price of the slugs jumped after I ordered them from Pyramid. Were your pellets in good shape when you got them from Hatsan?
Hatsan is the US rep for H&N

My last order was for Apolo .30 Air Boss pellets (20% off and free shipping). Wrapped tightly in bubble wrap, no damage.

Huben  GK1 - Carbine or Stock Mods

Rustic does a great job. If you're looking to do a shorty nows the time. Kraz Cool is running a special. Just tell him Jamie sent you. I still think V1 is the best GK1! A shorty would look sweet with that stock. Kraz could make the shorty to fit that stock.
Kraz Cool has all the other accessories your looking for cheap

Huben  GK1 - Carbine or Stock Mods

Here is my review on the Slide Stock I recently bought. I have no affiliation with the company where I bought it from. If you need to know where I bought it, you can PM me or search for it.

I love my folding stock, but IMHO, this stock is perfect for those who want to holster their GK1 but also want a carbine without the bulk or weight! The Slide stock is rock solid metal with minimal slop, no major wiggle. It allows for more points of contact. It also can be partially extended and locked to use as a pistol. There is a 13" LOP, a 15" LOP would be perfect for me! The Stock poles are angled sloped downward, but if the LOP was a little longer and that the butt plate was longer, it would provide a more comfortable scope sight picture, and the small angled slope not necessary, but I still think it is awesome! I will let the company know of my opinions. Overall, It is a holstered hunting machine! The only issue I have is that it does not have the ability to have a cheek rest. But the benefits far outweigh the need to have a cheek rest!

I am ordering a top Pic rail to move my scope back more, and a 1911 grip, and blacked out accessories, and this baby is finished! Unless I decide to go Shorty!:)

H&N Baracuda Match pellets

I agree the listed head size is smaller than what my head size gauge says. But the 5.51 run smaller than the 5.52 but there is overlap. They are my P35-22's favorite but it shoots both head sizes as accurately. This year my best 30 yard challenge score with this gun, a 198, was equaled by the 21 grain Baracudas. The one 200 I've shot with that gun was with the Match, however.

N/A  Dots, Peeps or Scopes ??

the daisies come with diopters so let set those aside
now they are going to be a great little rifle with a scope because the rifle is not heavy and the would be adding much and in this case the Daisies are easy to shoulder
now a Reflex Sight is an interesting idea also light but with all the non C models loading can be a PITA so i think i would move it forward
the diopters that are put on these are, lets say, very cheap but if you still have the eyes 10m shooting will be fun
i think i agree that these are fun to shoot with whatever sight you use

N/A  Best *Obsolete* or *Discontinued* PCP Rifle?

Still being made but my vote is for the HW100. Not much has changed on the rifle since its inception, a new biathlon lever and the old blocks didn’t have a threaded insert. Other than that that they have stayed the test of time. If that one doesn’t count then it goes to the Theoben Rapid MK2.

Aim line , poi, to target position

Never. I do like how you put it "real doctor" .. classic.. lol

Yes , stock hw/r9 irons at 50y ( my norm) ..
Ok, iron sights...

I attended (as a civilian) service rifle clinics with the US ARMY Rifle Team, some 30yrs ago. One of the lectures and demos was on errors caused by lack of front sight focus. Their mantra was "the target is a distraction". The demonstration was fun and enlightening. We shot std targets at 100yds, plotting all shots as usual...and then they replaced them with blank paper. I shot a beautiful group with nothing to aim at...front sight nicely in focus.

It may be that...

Gamo  Gamo swarm magnum multishot to singleshot...

I did just that with my gen3. It works a lot better without that kludgy magazine mechanism. I gained a lot of consistency and about 25 fps. Before I removed the magazine system velocities would vary up to 150 fps. Afterwards it was about 25 fps of variation and 25 fps higher velocities than the peak velocities I was getting earlier.
can you explain why you think your accuracy and power increased? i can't figure it out.
